I read that U2's Bono started to smoke because he thought his voice wasn't manly enough or something. Then the doctors told him to stop or he'll never be able to sing again. Or something. I don't remember. But I know he smoked to get a darker voice.

But no, I don't get it either. Maybe she keeps doing it because of habit and started because it was cool and wanted to keep that vintage vibe.

I know nothing about U2 tbh, but that's an interesting way to get a darker voice? I would of assumed he could take some kind of vocal lessons maybe, but I don't know I guess!

And yeah, Lana probably smokes for the  A E S T H E T I C  tbh....    I mean it's her life but still, it's gross and as lustforlife said - it can negatively effect your vocal chords! 

How do people even get addicted to smoking? It's pretty awful in the beginning so i don't get how people get addicted. They must continue smoking even when it's still disgusting to them because it's like they're TRYING to get addicted. I will never understand it

 I had a boyfriend who used to smoke and I tried it and it was GROSS and he said you have to get past the bad taste before it "gets good"? But I don't get why anyone would force themselves through that gross taste and smell and the way your mouth feels like trash for ages after smoking just so they can increase their chances of cancer? I mean, live ur life however you want but I'll never understand it.... 

Can I just ask what's happening to her voice it's been like this since her late 2016 tour dates really muffled and quiet with a few songs with some okay, and then its sounding awful what happened to her amazing vocals during the summer tour?

She needs to quit smoking her voice is getting raspier and airier and she naturally does breathiness for effect anyway

For real though I never understand why singers would smoke?? Like surely they know it isn't good for their vocal chords? 

I think a lot of people took a break from here because of the amount of drama and negativity that filled this thread after the whole "21st July fam" mess? Reading through it all wasn't a particularly pleasant experience so I don't blame all those that skipped those pages or decided to take a little break from LanaBoards! But as soon as Lana says anything else about the album or the next bit of news surfaces this place will be flooded once more!

(Honestly, I'm just glad this place seems to be swinging back towards a happier positive atmosphere haha!!) 

After she said we're having 18 tracks I feel way more positive, it'll be a long wait til July 21st but knowing that we'll get a lot of new songs I guess can control myself and not go crazy with the wait. Plus I think she'll be releasing the tracklist in the next 2 or 3 weeks + pre-order. Maybe we'll even get Cherry as a single with a mv coming out the same day as the record (or a few days later).

But what i'm curious about is: are those 18 tracks just on standard version or in a deluxe version. Cause if we get a standard version with 18 tracks, then please Lana release a deluxe version with 4 more tracks.

I think she means the standard edition will be 18 tracks because she said she couldn't leave any songs out and deluxe tracks are usually songs that didn't make the final tracklist but get added on as bonus tracks? So I imagine standard will be 18 and we may not get a deluxe unless her label persuade her haha!

But yes, this announcement of an 18 track album seems to have put everyone back in a happier mood which is good! I hated seeing everyone so down and stressed! 

I've loved everything she's released so far, I'm really loving this era!!

I'm also very glad this thread seems to be swinging toward positivity once more, it got real dark in here for a while...

Adina Porter has been spotted filming for Season 7!! I'm really happy she's back, I thought she was amazing last season! Can't wait to find out who else is returning! (Praying Lily Rabe returns too!!!)

I don't get how after one tweet people are suddenly saying Lana has lost her passion for music and no longer cares about her fans etc.... I hope y'all are just being dramatic atm because I honestly don't understand why suddenly some people think she's lost her passion? I don't feel like anything has changed, and I still love Lana a lot, but maybe I missed something? 

I don't mean how people feel about Ben, I don't care about him, I mean it seems that some people are losing faith in Lana for some reason? And I don't know why all of a sudden after that one "July 21st fam" tweet things just fell apart here?

IDK, this whole drama on here has made me really sad. I hate when everyone is at each other's throats and arguing like this! Hope it's all just ppl being emotional/dramatic/extra atm and that there's no real hard feelings?

And also how they *re-program* certain aspects about people throughout the season so it's not so boring. Like giving Pepper intelligence or keeping Kit's first wife alive and also abducting Kit at the end

I was totally one of those people! I was praying for a creepy alien story set on an isolated farm house! The setting for Roanoke, like the house in the middle of the woods, to me would be perfect for an alien story! Maybe add in a few ppl camping out in the woods if they're looking for more casting options than the occupants of the house etc?

I think the extraterrestrial theme was done poorly in Season 2. I'm okay if we have creepier aliens though.

Yeah I think if the aliens were the main focus/main source of horror then it could make for a season that is actually scary! In season 2 they were in there on top of all the other horror stuff, I'd love to see a season primarily concerned with some kind of extraterrestrial horror! I feel like they could pull it off if they go into writing it with the right intentions?  

I think he tried that with Roanoke but he lost himself in the script writing and he saw his views plummeting because of that horrible first person camera experience (which is WELL past played out in cinema ) so he just came up with a *very terrible* way to end the season early. Hence the 10 episode season. Asylum will forever be his best and well written season. I really love the alien theme and i thought he would continue it with  Roanoke    I hope that he leaves Aliens out of this season because I'd hate to see them done dirty by such a horrible theme of Elections and maybe

Yeah aliens are very intriguing, I'd love to see that return for a season I think it could be REALLY creepy if done right!

Freakshow was terrible but Hotel was STUNNING. The Art Deco style really fit well. I think its just Freakshow was a little mediocre for my taste

and i didnt like how all the good characters die at the end. I loved that transgender woman, i forgot her name, and how she almost killed that bitch but then he got a cheap shot on her. Also loved that really heavy set woman, hope they all come back. She probably wont because shes busy doing This Is Us which is another great show if i may add.

 

AGREE yes, Hotel was stunning! The set design and cinematography was very well done!

But yeah, Freakshow is for sure my least favourite season! I feel like Ryan Murphy is good at setting up interesting plots but he doesn't seem as good at ending them successfully without resorting to the cheap "lets just kill everyone" tactic? 

Personally, I haven't loved an entire season since the first two, and I'd love for Season 7 to change that but I'm not hopeful? They have such amazing talent in the cast as well, and some really great moments, I just want a whole season that gives the cast something great to work with and keeps the audience hooked and on edge from beginning to end, you know?

This poor show is going downhill.....I mean do u really need to get a millennial twitter politician (who already watches the show)'s view by making the season about an ELECTION       where is the genius Ryan Murphy who created Asylum. I would much rather have Return To The Coven than this shit.

Yeah Billie Lourd is the thing I'm most excited for too, so far this season sounds so blah... of course if they announce Lily Rabe's return I'll be a little more excited because I love her... But I don't have high hopes for this season at all! I just wish they'd do a season that doesn't try to be clever or edgy, just go all in on the HORROR that's all I want

At least we have some new interviews upcoming, we should hopefully find out more track titles in them if Lana keeps up the way she's been going recently with her interviews!   

tbh if Lana's pissy over that, that's her own problem. it's not our fault she couldn't answer a simple question. she coulda said July 21 during her interview after her KROQ performance but...she had that edited out.

 

Normally I respect Lana's feelings, but all that spamming and stuff was her fault. It's not like she had anything big planned for when she announced the date anyway, clearly.

I agree with you on the KROQ thing, I don't understand why that information was withheld, that's a valid question it doesn't make sense? But then again, we don't have all the information so we'll probably never know why it was edited out which - yeah - it's a mess, but at least we know now it's the 21st of July? 

I don't know how old you are or how technologically able you are, when your NOT doing a surprise album you promote the shit out of it- at the very LEAST put it on all formats of wide stream social media, an acceptable album date isn't July 21 fam- until she does that I think this is her idea of a red hearing just a pissy annoying one- for all we know she could be talking about the tour

The fact is a magazine said the album would be out 21st of July after interviewing her, it's your own faults that you didn't believe it and then harassed Ben on Insta (collective 'you', I'm not saying you specifically were involved btw) and kept demanding to know when the release date was even though she'd said it. I just don't see what else that date could refer to? 

I'm not saying I agree with her way of announcing it at all, I would obviously much prefer her to make an actual announcement on an insta post or a clearer tweet of "Lust For life - out 21st July" but that didn't happen, and I can understand if she was feeling pissy at us because things were getting wild with people calling record stores and spamming Ben and Lana and probably others.... 

It's done now, 21st of July is the date, confirmed, there's no use clinging to the denial that she was hacked or that this is a red herring. If it was going to be a surprise release she wouldn't have released two singles, two music videos, posters, billboards, a truck, magazine interviews, or an album trailer, surely?

I mean no offence to you personally, I just think it's time we all collectively accept 21st and move on?

I don't know specifically who but a bunch of twitter stans and some ppl from here were spamming his insta account asking for the release date? I don't think anything nasty was said at all and I understand the eagerness to get a confirmed date, but that wasn't particularly the right way to go about it

Right if she was being serious and not tying to be all sly "it's not coming tommrow heee heee hee stupid gays won't know" she would've put it on her insta like she has with every other major piece or info like the album cover- she has to be joking the woman is a lyric genius not a tramp who writes "July 21 fam" like some spotty teenager with terminal acne and a bad English teacher

But... it isn't hope it's denial? We literally had the date in Paris Match, and now Lana herself has confirmed it, it doesn't matter how she said it she still said it. 

Tbh she probably said it so bluntly because everyone kept demanding the date from her and a whole bunch of people decided to rudely harass her manager on social media despite the fact the date had already been revealed in her most recent magazine interview? "July 21st fam" as in 'I already said the date guys, just accept it'
