Chaparelle Interview check this out! They are almost done with a full length album! I’m excited to hear it but I hope we still get solo Zella stuff too….

I’m nervous we won’t get a new solo Zella album for another 2/3 years :( I hope we atleast get an EP, there should’ve been a Sunday in Heaven deluxe released this year with Moonslot Junkie, Cherry Heart, Sober, & Better but her labels insist on starving us. I love folk music so I’m really excited about the Chaparelle project, but I hope she drops an ep/album of just her voice to go along with it. It makes me so sad how little solo music we have from her. I wish we would’ve gotten 3 new songs on Kicker instead of the EP tracks being included, we already had half of Sunday in Heaven by the time it was released if you count the IDKHTE demo. It would be so great if she released a double album kind of like Love + Fear. She has both the vocal & writing ability to do so, it really sucks that the Rodrigo girl is experiencing so much success under the same dude who produced alot of the shelved follow up to Kicker when Zella is 100000x more talented. I hope she leaks some songs on Dbree one day along with the High music video. It’s been so long, I can’t believe the ZD ep turns 10 in a few months!! She has a cult following and alot of people who listen to the same music I do adore her, I put one of my longterm online buddies onto her & they know every song.

  2. Tour dates for Zella's new CHAPARELLE project with Jesse Woods!

    chaparelle-960x540-wp.jpg

In a harmonious union, singer-songwriters Zella Day and Jesse Woods come together to reveal their highly anticipated collaboration, “Chaparelle”. Esteemed for their exceptional vocal prowess and celebrated contributions to their distinct genres, Zella and Jesse craft a musical tapestry that harkens back to legendary duets of icons like George and Tammy or Gram and Emmylou. This partnership channels the enduring allure of Country music’s golden age, weaving a melodic narrative that resonates with themes of love and the indomitable Texan essence. Prepare to be transported by the nostalgic magic of Zella and Jesse’s musical synergy along the winding path of the West Coast.

What are the chances she's gonna cancel the tour midway because of the ticket sales? I heard that it's not going so well in a lot of areas...

The venues are just far too big for her! Her team is either insanely dumb or they're truly setting her up for failure.

Several of the venues are actually VERY small....she needs more promo & another single/video release + the Guetta collab all within the next month to gain more traction for the tour

honestly the quality is not the best—there’s a lot of pops, even after 3 wet cleans through a spin-doctor. I also just upgraded to a ML stylus (vm95ml cartridge from Audio Technica) on my Rega, but there’s still distortion on TNC. It’s probably one of the worst records I own from a quality standpoint…hoping this Coke bottle one is cleaner.

What's really weird is out of all my records it's somehow always acumlating a fuckton of dust, I'm thinking about switching out the dust jacket because the amount of static and dust is ridiculous & unexplainable

i emailed interscope about my shipments for the jacket (and a few chemtrails cassettes :teehee:) like 2 weeks ago and no response like what do i do :toofloppy:

Give them hell. We give them way too much money to be treated this way

I'd love to have the Coke vinyl, but I am so worried about ordering anything else from her store. After all four of the last vinyls were damaged and with customer service refusing to send a single reply...

Always use Paypal they'll cover your ass

  6. This is the deliciousky long tracklist I’m using that flows so well, I feel like it fully represents Kim from start to finish  and has a good balance between light and dark:

    1. Castle in the Sky (the BEST opener imho)

    2. Alone 2.0

    3. Feed the Beast (New Version)

    5. King of Hearts (I added the Euphoria intro to the album version)

Well to end a shitty day, I get the titty vinyl in the mail - absolutely perfect, no defects.

then the record drops on the lid to my container. There are now like 3 square “ridge/cutouts” along the bottom of the jacket…

    :uncomfortable:

Mine arrived with the spine damaged of course, it shows on the front and the back. They truly are the worst at packaging no bubble wrap or anything

  8. Did we ever get Glow in better quality than 128kbps? I have the HQ acoustic-y lessproduced one & the AG Cook one, but do we have one with the same production as the “superstripped edit” with the vocal loops in the background and percussion? It’s the superior version I wanna use for my XCX world, but all my files say 128kbps :(

+ did we ever get a non LQ version of Do It Well?

Atleast the ayesha prod would give something sonically interesting for her

Anyone besides Jack is welcome at this point honestly, he needs to stay away from her he’s completely stripped all cinematic quality from her music

  10. Does anyone still have the iTunes/AAC/m4a of “No Sleep to Dream”? I lost mine years ago! Lossless would be a stretch, but even better

Just a reminder that Dance to Forget was NEVER on Problématique and it's just a day 1 demo she abandoned as soon as she recorded it.

Revelations and Sex Talk are the same, HIFTB got shortened.

Sex Talk is different listen to the harmonies, they’re not as prominent

I think Froot is also loved for the sentiment. It kinda felt like a full circle moment for Marina and her fans. The roll out of the album was great (with the froot of the month), she made the album on her own, she made peace with no going fully commercial & lyrically Happy is a song that adds to the full circle moment of Marina being in a happier place herself.

Overall I've always ranked the albums like: TFJ > EH > Froot > ADIAMW > L&F

TFJ & EH are musically really really good, putting TFJ is because I personally enjoy the more indie/newwave sound over the full pop.
Froot has some really high peaks with the title track & Happy, but also has some skips (weeds, better than that, gold). The lyrics and music seems to become a bit more basic than her first two albums
ADIAMW has actually less skips but is a little bit on the nose with the lyrics at times. But I don't dislike any of the songs on there.
L&F is just basic pop. Handmade heaven, To be human & End of the earth are nice. The other songs ain't terrible, it's just not on the same level as her other work.

I remember the fucking wait with the Froot of the Month being absolutely unbearable! Amazing era though, it feels like her last real one
