  1. Lana acknowledged the Weinstein reference in ‘Cola’ with an interview with MTV released today. She says she wanted a Weinstein-like figure that preyed on starlets in the song. She “thought it was funny then, but sad now.” She confirmed she will be “retiring” this song.

How was it ever funny? Shade to Lana if she really said this.

  2. Update on the petition. The government petition team has been shut down for now. So instead I rang her UK record label polydor they said they couldnt help as don't deal with the tours. So then I rang her management company in the UK and explained and said I'm trying to find someone who cares. They said "That's not us". Wow! Told me to speak to the venue. I rang Academys hq and they are apparently going to call me back. So i posted a bitchy comment on o2 academy brixton Twitter. They asked me to send them a message which I have done. I will let you know the response. If anyone wants to visit their Twitter page and comment on what happened would be great. My comments are under the photos they shared of Lana.

  3. "Lana is losing her muse"

*worships an old album where she repeats "gimme them bright lights" at least 200 times and ignores an album they don't even understand*

Who's "worshipping" old albums? I'm saying I think the quality of lyrics and songwriting has decreased. Others seem to agree. She obviously had/has fillers with each album shes made but nowadays her songs seem repetitive and have no heart to them, I feel.

I'm also including the directions she takes her releases in, her events, her tours. She doesn't seem to care as much or put effort in and it shows.

To get all 'You don't know what you're talking about' when someone states an opinion you don't like?

    :usrsney:

  4. lol I think that Lana is becoming a sell-out tbh. Still love her, but unfortunately those shit happens.

btw: I don't think that's it's her fault, her managers and her label are worse than hell. They just think about money

    Becoming? lol

i think that's a bit of a cop out really. when she talks about having control over the direction of her albums and music, it seems like its her in the driving seat making messy career decisions.

do you think her managers would suggest she release a song called Summer Bummer?

  5. If this makes anyone feel better, people are pointing out how shitty her past titles have been and I didn't even notice because this is the first album cycle I've been on lanaboards for (I had a stan twitter and followed her closely on other sites, so it wasn't like I wasn't aware either). I dont think the general public will make automatic assumptions like we are; I think we're thinking too much into it because when you haven't heard a track it's really hard to judge what it will be like or what it's about.

tbh the general public will look at a title like 'Summer Bummer' and think she is not a serious artist who gives a crap about her work. thats what I would think

its sad from a musician who has written songs like Yayo, Elvis (personal fave) and her unreleased albums, that she seems to want to sabotage herself. almost as if she's throwing music out towards a void and not caring about an impact or an impression.

    :sadcore2:

@MahaMaha summed it up for me

  6. I so relate to this. People always tell me how sad and depressing her music is, when in reality they've only listened to maybe 2 songs lol. She's not that depressing, people just don't like to hear her so that's their excuse. If someone else was singing her songs, no one would call it depressing tbh, especially if it were a man.

Sorry to bring sex into this, but when do people call a man's music depressing? and does that prevent him from getting played on the radio (usually alternative stations)? For example, the weeknd is pretty depressing, along with Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Vance Joy and so on. These guys get played on the radio all the time, but when it comes to women it's less accepted for some reason. Not saying that depressing sounding songs from women never get played, but women get less airplay in general, especially on these alternative stations (where Lana should be on).

    Truth.

  7. THIS. And its going to make me so sad and angry when it happens. When Bowie died I had people on my facebook (who had made fun of me to my face when we were in school for liking Bowie) sharing his songs and writing 'heartfelt' messages. I don't even get why people do stuff like that.

And Prince too. Such a tragedy when good music isn't appreciated until after the artist passes away. :(

  8. Women who cheat on their spouses in third world countries get acid thrown in their faces all the time. It's a common occurrence. In the first world? Sure it happens, but it's not as frequent. :whatever:

I'm in no way denying those in other countries aren't statistically suffering more (due to their society, lack of justice, lack of awareness, misogyny) but it IS happening everywhere, increasingly so. I applaud people like Malala and Katie Piper for showing awareness amd showing they are strong and educate others about the violence that is happening and happened to them. Of course it happens in "the first world". Women are getting killed, tortured and abused every day. It's staggering.
