  1. Guys, what songs did Charli do with Sophie and AG Cook that have been performed live but haven't leaked yet? Like I know No Angel, Girls Night Out, and Taxi, Round And Round, but what other ones are there?

Also screw the label because XCX3 was gonna be that album and instead it has filler-quality stuff like ATAP and Boys passing as singles. Ugh. UGH.

  2. "Label fucking love me " sounds either like a joke (because they obviously don't care about her), something they made her say because why would you want your artists talking smack about you, or some stockholm syndrome shit.

How long has it been since Sucker? She's not getting a hit, not with this crappy era. They mismanaged Sucker, which is when she actually had momentum. She doesn't have anything now. They're delusional if they think this will be anything other than a cult favorite.

Labels executives have, are, and will always be stupid risk averse fools who wouldn't understand music unless it did a PowerPoint with whizbang transitions. There may be some decent ones but they sure aren't working with Charli.

  3. I don't get why everyone's coming for White Mustang when In My Feelings is so much cringier. The hook is so bad. "You got me in my feeeeeeelings." What an anticlimactic melody. The "who's doper than this bitch part" could have saved it if she didn't then regress back to "I'm feeeeling all my fucking feeeeeeeeeelings." And she might not have even said the iconic "crying while I'm coming" lyric. It's a drag of a song.

White Mustang is underdeveloped. If the production were more varied and she actually put effort into singing the chorus, it would have been a very cute short song. The whole theme is very Lana-esque, and both the whistling and the "you're gonna ????" melodies at the end are great. I don't get why she makes songs with good verses and then ruins them with lazy production and choruses *side eyes Guns and Roses*. Anyway looking forward to that video, hope its longer than 2:45.

I'm still feeling LFL. I'm happy she made such a diverse album even if it pissed the gays off. TNC remains one of the best off this record. I don't get how some folks drag Lana for being too repetitive and then essentially say "make BTD/UV 2.0." Those records (ESPECIALLY UV) were made at a certain point in her life and she can't just get that back. Im glad she's experimenting with folky sounds and collabs and semi political lyrics. Just get higher quality trap beats, Lana. BTD had great beats, idk why they've cheapened so much. Also COMMIT to your political lyrics. GBAAATBWII makes little sense. WTWWAWWJKD is confusing. BPBP is confused. Change is cute. Get Free comes from a personal place, which made it the most genuine out of all of them. I would kill for that original overly personal version.

  4. I actually like ATAP more than Boys... Boys is cute but I like the ATAP hook better. Both pale in comparison to Ring which is the slutty bop I need in my life right now.

If her label continues delaying XCX3 she should leak the damn thing. Their lack of faith in her leaves me smh. N1A slew me hard, still my fave release of 2017 (sorry Lana and Lorde). She truly is on that new shit and they're wasting their time hoping for an I Love It or Boom Clap sized success. Let her be the futuristic pop princess she was meant to be.

  5. AKA has the most interesting and unique production. Sometimes it's a miss (Brite Lites) but I love Raise Me Up, Queen of the Gas Station, Kill Kill. Sometimes it doesn't sound high quality, which hurts it.

Born To Die has some great production but also some very questionable choices. National Anthem and Dark Paradise are two songs sacrificed for cohesiveness. The demos are so much better and more alive. Now that we have four/ five full albums out and we're I think a lot of the songs suffer from the production choices.

Paradise is really nice (Cola is so lushhhh) but also more boring than BTD.

I will never understand UV's reputation in this fanbase, lol. I don't like lofi so maybe that's why.

The first 5 songs of the album are solid (but the "strings " on UV are so fake and that always bothers me), with West Coast having a heavenly sound, but the second half really lags. Like I have no comment on MPG or FMWUTTT. My main problem is Lana drenching her voice (and everything?) in reverb. It's so muddy sounding. I've been told this isn't an issue on the vinyl.

Honeymoon is like Paradise I guess. But better? I love the production on MTWBT for example. But then there's stuff like GKIT where its just indiscriminate reverb. The whole thing is very consistent sounding at least.

Lust for Life is probably her most diverse offering since AKA, which is good and bad. She's divided it pretty neatly into pre and post Coachella, so each "side" is internally consistent. Love and Lust for Life don't fit in at all, imo. They're so slick sounding when the rest of the record is not. It's very odd. I'm really bothered you can hear hiss when Lana starts singing on Heroin. Like seriously? I know you like to sing at a near whisper but that noise drives me crazy.

I have a lot of thoughts but I'm on mobile so I'm just gonna nominate AKA for diversity AND consistency.

  6. I am salty that certain artists seem to get inflated scores based mostly on their reputation while Lana has the opposite problem. Some artists can deliver a decent album and end up with rave reviews, while Lana keeps moving forward while keeping her unique voice and gets ripped for BTD again. I feel her music is rarely actually on review. Are the songs good or not, I couldn't care less if they're ~authentic~ or not.

    /salt

    If this doesn't surpass HM....

  7. I thought Groupie Love would end up a nice filler but it's such a sexy bop that I've kept it on repeat. Queen of surpassing expectations.

This album is deff a step forward where HM stalled a little. It's diverse, it has new lyrical and musical aspects, she's trying features out (both classic rock and modern rap/RnB). I'm so proud to stan for this beautiful person (with beautiful problems). I feel so happy I've gotten to see her develop as an artist.

Not to say this album is perfect. Like other artists stepping into the political *cough* her "political" lyrics are a bit weak. GBA and WTWWAW aren't especially powerful statements. I think she does it best on Get Free, where she links her development as a person with her involvement in the real world as opposed to fantasy.

Anyway the "ITS FUCKIN HOT" part of Heroin removed my entire cranium, holy shit.

  8. Can someone send an HQ version of Ring?

I love this girl so much, why does XCX3 keep getting delayed?  :( I hate this dark age of female pop singers.

  9. Realistically right now I'm kinda at "Meet me in the Pale Moonlight." Not quite yet but  :creep:

"Be My Daddy" when I'm thirsty  :hooker:

"On Our Way" has always been one of my favorite Lana love songs. It has so many of those themes I strongly associate with her - specific references to things (pink lipgloss), 'trashy' stuff (Kmart), a road trip to nowhere, sundresses, Americana references. But it's really sweet and all the references flow so naturally together. I guess this song is more "relationship goals" for me, lol.

  10. I like it but not as much as I thought I would. I don't like the new songs as much as the ones we heard pre-release. Also is it still a concept album? Is it supposed to have a plot or is it just supposed to center around a theme?

  11. Paper Love scalped me. Don't check for a single hair on my bald little head. Also enjoying Casanova, Lifted, and Simon Says. I haven't heard the single version of OHDH enough to be able to compare the two. That's So Us is cheesy schlock, eek  :biblio:  Vintage is inoffensive but kinda cute, I could chill to it.

    Allie X delivering as always.

  12. Allie X threads are cursed apparently.

On another note, can someone give me all the details of the Allie X drama from the last thread? Like PM it to me if you don't want to clog up the thread but all I hear are vague generalities and I want the tea. I remember being present for a lot of drama between attention-seekers, but definitely not thread-closing drama.

  13. Hope they change the cover. The style of it - singer posing in front of vaguely interesting backdrop with a thick border and names on top and bottom - is dated af. This is what tacky balladeers from the 60s and 70s did; it's dated and it's not even like an original take on the idea. Not to mention it looks really amateur. Not a huge fan of the Honeymoon cover (too busy) but I like that one better than the current Lust for Life one. Don't make me have to buy an UO exclusive to get a nicer cover gurl.

  14. I love LanaBoards because in a drought of female artists, y'all bring me indie pop female artists that light up my life. I liked "Blow Your Mind"  (heard it on the radio actually  :hooker: ), but I probably wouldn't have checked her out beyond that if there weren't an active thread about her here. Don't stop delivering. This album was nice.

  15. The first minute was cute, if highlighting the fact Lana is a stiff dancer, then after that it got really boring. I don't really like her videos after Paradise. They may have been self-important and pretentious, but they seemed to be more interesting and at least consistently 'her' (as shown by the fact we can make of fun of them for the same things, while people dislike UV and HM era vids for different reasons). Her home videos were really cute. She seems to have gotten less interested in her music videos as time goes by? Maybe her taste changed?

Anyway she looked super cute in that dress, hmu if you find a similar one online.

  16. I hope she actually follows through. The Lou Reed one fell through because he died, and the Brian Wilson fell through because... she didn't show up? I can't forgive her for that last one, honestly. Lana and Brian  :defeated:

Excited to see her collabing with these classic rock musicians. Queen of collabs. Homegirl is coming for blood this era.

  17.

I have a fever at the disco
Sirens are screamin' and I'm losing control
Someone turned out the lights in Musicland
But the record starts to spin
I feel the music and we start to dance
    :rollin:  :rollin:  :rollin:  :rollin:  :rollin:

Did this ever leak in full?  :rollin:
