  1. Y'all keep saying you "can't copyright" a name. You're confusing copyright with trademark, and they're not the same thing. People can trademark their name (Kim Kardashian, Christina Aguilera, basically any celebrity). People can trademark expressions ("That's hot!" "let's get ready to rumble"). Tim Tebow has even trademarked "tebowing" and that's an action! I've warned you before and i'll do it again, because you didn't believe me, and then someone went and turned it into an April Fool's joke: NORMAN ROCKWELL IS TRADEMARKED. The Rockwell family is threatening to sue Interscope if they release the album with the name without their approval, or without an (exorbitant) payment for the use of the name. Lana won't change the name, and Interscope won't release it unless she changes the name, because they don't want to pay any licenses to use the name because the licenses they want will eat up all the profits of what they expect to make from album sales. The album is mastered and ready to go otherwise. Bye, Felicias (again).
  2. Names can be trademarked if they are associated with a distinct business or service: "For a person's name to be trademarked, it must already be distinctive in the eyes of the public, so that when people hear the name they think of the goods or services offered by that person. In trademark law this standard is referred to as secondary meaning. Also, the more distinct and original the person's name is, the more likely she will be granted a trademark. Celebrities and athletes are the people who most commonly use trademarks to protect their names." >>> https://yourbusiness.azcentral.com/can-persons-name-copyrighted-2735.html The name Norman Rockwell is already trademarked and owned by Norman Rockwell Family Agency and Rockwell Family Properties for various business purposes. Even with the "Fucking" in the name, the Rockwell Family Properties is claiming the album creates "likelihood of confusion" and have issued a cease and desist. If the album is released with the title, they will proceed with a lawsuit.
  3. the. album. is. not. coming. y'all ignored me when i gave you the inside scoop. the heirs of Norman Rockwell's estate are blocking the release of the album over the title. They are arguing that Lana and her record label should not be able to profit over the use of his name without a licensing agreement. Interscope and UMG refuse to release the album with its current name and have requested that Lana change the album name, but she refuses to change it because it is "her art". She doesn't care about having to give a certain % of sales to the Rockwell estate, but Interscope absolutely does $$$ This is why you haven't heard a single peep about the album in several months. Byeeeeee
  4. The album is not coming. The estate of Norman Rockwell is suing Lana and her label over the album title. Her label will not allow the album to be released unless Lana changes the name. Lana is refusing to change the title. RIP NFR.
