LDR9 = Let me show ya'll the new next best American dream

  2. Oh how I’ve missed reading everyone’s speculation and collective freak outs since BB release:wub: . I truly love this place. Manifesting a surfy, psychedelic, witchy, synth heavy, Mike Dean / Emile / Jack produced LDR9 with an early June release date.  Lana always has and always will be summertime music to me :blush2:

Okay i know it's really mean to think about LDR9 right now after we just got Blue Banisters. But sorry, i can't help the thirst :trisha: Here's a "LDR9" album rollout in my tiny head:

LDR9 title will be: LIZ, I'M CALLING FROM CALIFORNIA

Genres: Psychedelic, indietronica, Alt Rock, chamber pop artpop, dreampop, ofc (a sweet "piano flop" to spite y'all ballad haterz)

Style: An ethereal Witch Rock Album (I'm thinking of Which Witch - Florence + The Machine kind of vibes) mixed with experimental electronic-elements, serving for random drunk screaming/ camp style.

    Produced by: herself, Mike Dean

Track 5 - Lemonade has some excerpts/sample contents from old demo "Dance for Money"

Track 12-13: To Clementine is a continuation of "Fine China"

This album is a sister to Lust for Life, but this time, it's not a celebration for her fans, rather than the celebration for herself. The album is a nod to young/innocent Lizzy Grant (yes, she will spill more tea about her past in this album) & how that make her the person she is today, more self-reflecting songs (just like WW in Blue Banisters), more fuck-you media songs (especially annoying-ass twitter stan culture), and how she been through shit to be able to love and appreciate/believe in herself & her art (as she should, she is Lana Fucking Del Rey) & more contemplating songs like in Lust for Life where she shares her thoughts about life, politics, society prejudice towards a woman/a woman in the industry, and although the album isn't an ode to her fans like Lust for Life was, it still has 2 songs as 2 love letters dedicated to her fans - Roses Bloom For You (altered lyrics) & At Peace, At Last.

and/or participated in the slaughter of the native americans back in the day, wasn't she talking about doing the najavo charity to 'heal her lineage' ?

This is what I was thinking, too.

think she's just talking about complicated family history & pain & trauma, everyone's family has some imo

Right, but she said she is scared of people looking into her family records. It seems to be on her mind as she has mentioned it a few times in this Live + the "it's my karmic lineage" line in Black Bathing Suit.

Love this. Adding to what you've shared, since she said Arcadia is about "what happened" the lyrics "They built me up three hundred feet tall just to tear me down, So I'm leavin' with nothing but laughter, and this town" make me feel like leaving social media is part of that story. So we've got two parts of the story... I'm interested in the "what it's like now" part i.e the end of the album. Perhaps when the album comes out, the final songs will be her way of telling us where she is at and her leaving social will be clearer.

I am so excited to see "what it's like now", too! I think the closing track "Sweet Carolina" will answer some questions especially because it was co-written with her father and sister. Another user pointed out the album starts out with "I was looking for the father I wanted back" and ends with a song written with her father. A full circle moment:oic3:

  7. Listening to Text Book this morning and reading this thread and I have some thoughts. Just a note, this might be a COMPLETE REACH but :whatever2:

First, the lyrics "I guess this is really the end I've never felt jealous before this year but I'm jealous now" really hit me differently after her announcement last night. Maybe she's referencing the experience of watching her friends live a normal, fame-less life on Instagram. We know she wants privacy more than ever and is probably sick to death of the trolls commenting on her posts. Her thoughts, body, music are all open to be critiqued in the comments of her posts and I'm sure she has read some hateful things. I don't see this announcement as spur of the moment.  @lustforlife said BB is "the end of Lana Del Rey". Maybe de-activating her socials is just the first step down a road of seclusion and letting the music speak for itself.

Secondly, we know Text Book starts the album. Lana said BB is about "what it was like, what happened, and what it's like now".  The lyrics "and then there was the issue of her I didn't even like myself or love the life I had"  stuck out to me. I see these lyrics as young Lizzie speaking about not liking herself or the emotionally unstable home she lived in as a young girl / teen. In some ways, the creation of the Lana Del Rey persona saved her from that life (or maybe it felt this way to her in the beginning): it brought money,  instant adoration and freedom to build a new life for herself. Years later, though, the "Lana Del Rey" name has also brought a ton of baggage: think pieces, 0 freedom or privacy, twitter hate, etc. Maybe deactivating is just a way for her to begin tearing down this image of Lana Del Rey and only letting the music shine through. I could see her being very reclusive (like Fiona Apple) and popping out for interviews once every few years.

I don't think she will ever retire from music but this record is definitely a turning point for her. I'm excited to see the story she paints in BB and hoping it all comes together.

And maybe this is just me dwelling too much on the fact that I won't get a "Lana Del Rey posted" push notification for the foreseeable future :icant:

Omg! I actually love that her or her team called Nicki to explain what she meant in the QFTC post and now is featured on Nicki’s track ???

I agree, I love that Lana reached out to clarify. The way Nicki worded this “I have a feature WITH Lana Del Ray” makes me think Nicki is featured on Lana’s song and not the other way around. What if when BoZ said he couldn’t believe Lana was doing this he meant featuring some artists from QFTC post on the album?

  9. I'm trying to insert an image I uploaded to imgur but it doesn't work. I click on "insert image from url", paste the url link and then the text box just flashes red and doesn't let me insert.

  10. I don’t know how to upload an image but I DMed Qobuzusa on insta and they just told me they have 9/5 as the release date. I asked how they got the info and they said it came from UMG. I’ll copy and paste their message below!

“We got 9/5 from UMG, but big releases have been shifting ever since the pandemic. I would say that the album is still TBD with no secured release date.”
