I’ll take it that, just like us, he doesn’t know how to count her albums If he keeps on teasing it, it’s gotta be coming in 2023
-
Would make sense that she’d be done or almost there. I’m not worried at all for the album: her computer can’t be the only place it was stored , no way Jack would have let her have the only “master” of his songs. I guess she’s afraid it would leak before it was released… I can’t see her starting over: Interscope would have to pay the producers anyways for the “scrapped album”. as for the book, this is what broke my heart: she is so proud of her poetry, so happy it could see the light of day and this happens… of course there are always the poems that were turned into audio tracks (there are at least two that we know of and there are certainly more) that can be written down, but just likeViolet, it can’t be the whole thing… i really hope a new single from the album will be out by the end of 2022, but I don’t want to jinx it

With everything we learned this week, I wonder how far off she was on the album, if it was done or not.

The problem with God Save Our Young Blood is that her voice sounds a lot like Borns and the production minimized her vocals. I was in shock when I heard the filtered vocals / solo part of Lana with music, on YouTube. I was like: What?!? She sings pretty much the whole time?!? On Snow on the Beach, yeah, she could have had a verse, but the real miss, to me, is that she doesn’t sing the “It’s coming down” line at the end. If had been the case, the song would have been perfect.

After having spent a day with this album, I can honestly say Midnights is a pop gem, a masterpiece that refined all her pop era albums while keeping some of the “vulnerability” of her folk ones. i usually think that all of her albums are often bloated with too many songs; Midnights has so many surprises that you can’t feel like skipping tracks, and there are just two songs I don’t like (Midnight rain : she shouldn’t have distorted her voice so much / Sweet Nothing: would have worked better as a piano ballad rather than a 80s synth song) I still don’t consider myself a Swiftie, but I do get why Swifties adore her: She spoiled her fans with this release.

I Love Midnights and Snow on the Beach fits the album mood. Yeah, Kana could have had a bigger part, but her presence is haunting in the choruses. the biggest letdown, though, is that she doesn’t sing the “it’s coming down part”. If she had, nobody would be disappointed.

Reputation (and Lover) is not what Taylor can do best. Like not at all (in terms of lyrics). Folklore and evermore are the two albums were she (finally?) owns up on who she is. Subtlety and yet…
-
Well it was really unexpected, plus it’s 7 tracks, some produced by Aaron Dressner. Imagine if Lana, during UV era, had dropped the album… and put out 8 scrapped tracks like Your Girl, Fine China and Fucking Yes to Heaven, a day later or on release day. We would have lost our minds.

Love or hate Taylor (and everything in between), but you got to give it to her that she gave a lot to her fans with this release (and in general).
-
The bonus tracks are awesome. it’s honestly a stunning album. i kinda agree with Rolling Stones for calling it an instant classic.

Lana’s voice is haunting. It’s the thing I hear (“like snow on the beach”) when I think of this song. true, she doesn’t have a verse, but her voice is beautifully used. not her best collab, I’m glad I really like Taylor cause it’s mostly a good Taylor song, but I was sure I was going to be majorly disappointed by it after what everyone said after the leak.
-
Like I said in the Taylor thread, listen to Snow on the Beach (and the whole album) in HQ. Honestly, Lana’s voice is haunting… When I think of this song, it’s Lana’s whisper saying “Like snow on the beach” that comes to mind
-
I Love that we do get songs where Taylor reflects on herself, where she is the one to blame… We already (finally?) got glimpses of that on folklore and mostly on evermore, and I’m glad she continues with that POV.

I’M SO FUCKING GLAD I DIDNT LISTEN TO LEAKS! In hq / Dolby Atmos, it’s honestly surprisingly wow. The synths are what dreams and nightmares made of. I am not even through my first listen and really enjoy it (of all of her pop albums, 1989 is the one I love the best, so I guess it’s not that surprisingly I love Midnights). didn’t think it would be pure pop based on the covers and the theme, but the theme comes through beautifully.

Ok finally listened… and not only the song is lovely but Lana is there for a great deal of the song?! Ok she doesn’t have a verse, but both their voices sound beautiful together. Lana sounds like an echo on the shore, at night…
-
I didn’t hear the album yet (im on the NYC time zone), but… 1- disappointed that the visuals don’t match the sound apparently ; 2- the lyrics sound… something else. Is it because of the “sleepless” concept, where nothing makes sense?! 3- I still hope that the Lana backvocals song is good despite Lana doing not much on it (is it possible it’s a God Save Our Young Blood where we thought she didn’t sing much but it’s a mixing problem ?)

I get why some of us want an « absolution », by listening to leaks that we are sure that won’t ever belong to an album… And yet, @111 is right. No leak is a legal one, and with Lana, we know her creative process isn’t linear at all: just like she decided, with BB, to include leaked tracks, we can’t be absolutely sure that what is the future of any track / hook or even demo. I do wonder though how come that site still up and running most of the time for the vast majority of you… How many artists got the site down for a while because of their latest release having leaked there and yet, it’s still up a week later…
-
I’m still gutted about her book having vanished. This is just so horrible. as for leaks, I don’t know anymore how I should feel when new songs from her will pop up, knowing what we do today. I’ve been a bit on the fence since she put songs on BB we never thought she’d include on an album, and those songs leaked not so long before BB… So, I don’t know. gotta applause her bravery to be able to keep a straight face, move on and talk about it. That woman is the definition of resilience.
-
Not from what I understood. From the laptop they got through her phone, where the songs were.
-
yeah, I do wonder too how she couldn’t get a copy of her book through cloud…
-
So… it’s very safe to say that BoZ was indeed talking about Lana… It’s nice to know the album is good / excellent, but I do wonder if he got to hear it because of the robbery…

I can’t believe this The script being lost is heartbreaking. Sure , she can transcript the poems that had been turned into audio tracks, but it’s not the whole thing. poor her. Gives me a lot of thinking about future leaks.
