Me: bitching for three years that the NFR pre-release dragged on for a whole damn year. also me: Bitch! I wanna hear a damn single already even though you’re still recording !

Lana went to golf yesterday and locked her father in to finish the job seriously, it’s got to be well underway… or am I going delulu here?

When the instrumentals of LFL leaked, I was really surprised to love Coachella’s so much. There are a lot of interesting layers on that one. It’s the second verse that I find just very meh, in terms of lyrics. The rest of the song is good.

She is gorgeous in those.

My mind went exactly there

Thanks for the info, dear. I really hope the album sounds just like what you described. as for the skepticism, we’ve had our lot of insiders - real and fake and everything in between (the departed lustforlife), with their megalomaniac business - the years and for many who trusted those infos, they’ve been often let down. By the way, I love how you phrase your teasers ) I keep in my mind what you said: if it does come through, you could be elevated to the BoZ-Eclipse Pantheon.

2020 might have been the turning point to start talking about mental health issues without shame or saying it’s a « physical illness ». I’ve read into that 2014(?) interview that she could be suffering from anxiety / panic attacks that do manifest physically. But given that it was/ still is taboo to talk about those important issues publicly, it could have been written as a « physical illness ». Of course it’s not my business to « diagnose » anyone with health issues or anything else, but that’s my interpretation of the whole thing.

NFR was very Cali-Laurel Canyon and has that big « end of the world » feeling at the end of the record. the next two are about living in that end of the world and thinking about the past and your career. now imagine if LDR9 is really about Nor-Cal/ let’s live in this « new world » with a sorta « looming menace » over it
-
I find that it really negates the whole sad feeling of the song. I was sorta ok with it until I heard the demo (“Maybe you have to forget and I have to move on” ) anyways, I expect at least a weird line on the album.
-
Lana’s always had quirky / cringey lyrics that only her can get away with and that end up working in the end, even if at first you hate them (iPhone line, iPad, stranger than a stranger). the only line that I just can’t, is the fucking “isn’t life crazy now that I’m singing with Sean” She should have kept the lines of the demo.

I don’t know what to expect for this album. I thought that RCS would be more summery and well, it became the reflexive and beautiful BB. The last 3 albums were very much “singer-songwriter” and I wonder what is next in store. As for diversity or going in other directions, these days, it’s her collabs that often change the pace: I hope there’s a cute summer song coming that might not be part of the album.

It better be! Epic, to me, is Venice Bitch (okay, other things could be too, but production needs to be bigger than her last projects for sure, to deserve the term epic)
-
The only thing that “scares” me, with Rob’s posts, is that he thought Sweet Carolina was hypnotic and, well, I love the piano and her voice but am not that into the whole baby blues thing

Fuck I hope it’s coming soonish because the damn teasing recently…

Yeah, BOZ is our god for release dates but for the rest and soundscape… well…

Ranking: Fav, Best, Least Fav, Worst (Song + Album)
GeminiLanaFan replied to honey dew's topic in Lana Thoughts
Edit: @fl0r1dakil0s got all mean and stuff () and asked me to choose, so here it is: Song : fave: VENICE BITCH (close second: White Dress) best: close call between Mariners or hope or Arcadia or The Greatest (all her strong texts are amazing and critic’s darlings), but hope least fave: Don’t Call Me Angel (Lolita as second choice) worst: many unreleased but in the released department: TNC for the line “isn’t life crazy now that I’m singing with Sean” Album: fave: Norman best: Norman is her best though HM and UV are string contenders least fave: aka (Chemtrails for the three songs I don’t connect with is second) worst: LFL (it’s true that it’s all over the place even though I really like it) -
BOZ and I have way different tastes when it comes to her, most of the time (like, if it’s not sadcore, he doesn’t like as much). Not gonna take his take on the new songs as absolute truth.

Drew was the producer on If You Lie Down With Me, which gave us that beautiful brass outro… I’m in! by the way, lustforlife said she was working with Drew again… and which new “insider” said If we loved Buddy’s RV, we’d love LDR9? dragonwhore?
-
I’m not sure anymore than everybody would win… it’s tradition, on LB, to shit on the producer of the previous album. Emile and Dan didn’t get the treatment because they didn’t come back for the next one
-
I guess it means she is working on the album…

Really love this album as well. So dreamy, old Hollywood cinematic I like how Lana’s side projects are often reminiscent of passed eras, like this cover that sounds so HM: we get something new and yet, it’s familiar, while « quenching our thirst » for a HM 2.0 or UV 2.0, or whatever album we loved from her. Kiss Me (I Loved You) would have fitted Lana so well

Love the pose on the couch. She is 🔥 -
I warmed up a lot to Taylor’s music this year, with the reissue of Red (the 10-minute version of All Too Well is a career highlight). I’d be there for a collab of the two, but like you said, on a side project (which will probably be the case if it happens). That collab could be beneficial for her, in terms of numbers, while still letting her do her own thing for her albums, just like she did in the NFR era with the (very-meh) collab Don’t Call Me Angel.
