Haven’t listened to the speech, but she did mention before that when she started working with Jack, critics finally understood what she was saying and were not trying to misinterpret her message. Could be because he is involved or it could simply be luck: Lana Del Rey is an odd ball in the musical landscape for sure and critics finally « got there » and it coincided with her work with him.

Like @ultrabanisters said, to go with the UK shows announcement. Also, probably to clarify that the album is done and give us some kind of update on the new timeline of it: she knows she said two singles would be out by the end of the year and I don’t see that happening.

Yeah I understand what you mean: a bit like LMLYLAW being the first single of COCC. I’m mostly curious what the final track sounds like, if there’s more production to it compared to the snippet we got. ans I must say that I’m almost shocked that the first single will be the first track she teased with a snippet of.

I see Henry as a winter single, almost like a standalone thing, even though I know it’s the lead to the new album. The melody of Henry and her voice are so nice from what we’ve heard, so great for the dark winter days.

Since we know Zach Dawes is on board, one thing I do wish for is that Zach doesn’t produce the opening track. I love the work she’s done with him, but both the Grants and Textbook are a bit lacklustre as opening tracks NGL

Im gonna say this and will probably get rocks thrown at me, but hey fuck it. As much as I’d love it, we need to be realistic : I think we collectively need to forget she said the album would be southern gothic, especially if southern gothic means Ethel Cain to you. Given her track record at describing the genre of her songs, based on the Henry snippet (which is probably just a demo, but still), based on the album title and supposed cover, this album will have, at best, some arrangements that will be a bit southern gothic. again, it’s not what I wish for, but I’m telling myself it’s what we’ll get.

I think you’re sadly right. Its place was on Ocean Blvd We need this song like right now, it’s just too good not be heard. Seriously, why didn’t she ditch the damn Pastor interlude for Zodiac, placed between A&W and Candy Necklace? This track run would have been unmatched. And Zodiac is even a bit shorter than the pastor’s speech, I mean…

Each album has its own way of releasing singles, but since Henry is the first single, I think it could come out way before March, like in December or January (let’s face it: this song will never chart and everyone knows it: so there is no need for a « strategic » release date ). Unless something else, none album-related is scheduled to be released before the album singles. im expecting now something that will be familiar to what Cigarettes After Sex did for their X’s album: a single every two months, with the first coming five months prior to release.

It’s the US Thanksgiving: I’m surprised she even announced the album just before this holiday. Nothing happens in the US during those days. I must say that this album is confusing, if only for the sound: « it’s country » « I feel like a pause needs to be taken, I don’t want half-baked songs » « it’s Southern Gothic » « I might have been wrongly translated » and now this picture with that title… doesn’t give much southern gothic vibes at all. anyways, I don’t feel like Zodiac will be part of this album so where is the HQ leak? I want to properly close the Ocean Blvd era by listening to it between A&W and Candy Necklace

About the Wednesday release, I don’t think it will happen on the 21st, because labels usually don’t release albums on days other than Friday. Usually. The National surprised dropped Laugh Track on a Sunday night. Ethel Cain will release Perverts on a Wednesday (I think it’s because it is released through her independent label and everybody knows this project has zero chances of doing well in the charts, even if it seems like an artistic tour de force from what we’ve heard). as for Lana, unless her label and her are sure that there is no fat chance of a possible good spot in terms of charting, The right person will stay will be released on a Friday.

I think it’s simply classic Jack behaviour of talking almost nothing of an album until the artist started doing so. But then again, maybe there is some drama behind the scenes
