maybe it depends on the kind of "wokeness", maybe it's not the kind of "wokeness" which is geniunely wanting the world to be a more inclusive & better place for everybody, but the kind of wokeness who gets offended over the way lana buttons her flannel or criticizing her for not talking about the gentrification of brooklyn in "brookyn baby", a song about brooklyn hipsters if that's what they meant by "wokeness neurosis"

lana's whisper is so powerful it actually sounds like a scream!

i'm still thinking about the very unprofessional review we discussed earlier and i just want to say, why do people think lana's vocals are "whisper" vocals? she literally doesn't have a whispering vocal style... even in her earlier albums, she used a variety of different ranges & singing styles, and i wouldn't consider any of it a "whisper", i feel like they say this because they haven't actually listened to any of her work and they just base it off of a select few songs, like video games (which isn't whisper-y, it's just very calm & low), they say it to dismiss her as a genuine artist & talented singer who can pull off a lot of ranges & styles, billie eilish is whisper-y, yet she hardly gets criticized for her whisper singing style!

depending on your timezone, yes! the album will officially be out for me at 11:00 pm, so technically it's a day early for me

i feel like some people like to automatically assume her friends aren't "real" friends or they're secretly shady and don't have the right intentions, and while it can be true that some people could become friends with celebrities for their own personal gain, it's not right to automatically suspect this of every friend lana has, also, lana's a grown adult who can handle personal relationships, she can make the choice to cut off a friendship if she believes it's the right thing to do, she doesn't need random people on the internet to decide that for her

exactly! we all know lana hasn't always had the best luck with friendships, nikki seems like a normal, geniune person, so why is there a problem? hating somebody or making crass jokes about somebody because you don't like their music is very childish

people do the exact same thing with nikki lane and honestly it's really gross, you may not like their collaborations together or her music personally but she hasn't done anything wrong, i've read some really rude things about her here

i don't think anybody's slandering nfr or saying that it's bad, we're just saying that it's more "easy to digest" compared to her other albums

lana's "tropes" really make her lyricism & music even more in-depth & artistic, roses, chateau marmont, diamonds, classic rock musicians, hollywood, palms, "daddy", trailer parks, tattoos, motorcycles, etc. would the lana del rey experience be the same if she didn't mention "blue" in every other song? i don't think so!

she says "too lana" like it's a bad thing what does that even mean? although nfr isn't quite filled with all of the "lana tropes" (which i personally love those "tropes") it's still made by the exact same woman who made born to die, paradise, etc. i don't even think lana's music is that "melodramatic" and honestly, this is a matter of personal taste but, i'd rather listen to lana's "melodramatic" music filled with "lana tropes" then something which is made for the critics or a wide audience, lana's music is polarizing, it's unique, it's not for everybody, but it's geniune, it's real, it's true art, especiall in a day & age where people seem to value money & commercial value over real artistry

yet, now it seems like everybody wants their chance at working with jack antonoff and creating their own beachy/folky bodies of work... even when she's more "likable" & "accessible" she's an influential trendsetter

it's honestly stupid to compare every album she's ever made/will eventually make to nfr, is she supposed to do the exact same thing for the rest of her career? are all of her past albums completely irrelevant garbage because she made a record which they think is valid enough? artists grow, shift, change, & experiment, it's such a foolish pedestal to put her on, especially since lana's hinted at the fact that she wasn't happy about people respecting her only when she made an album which was "happier" and more "gp friendly", they could only respect her artistry if it didn't push the boundaries and go beyond the comfort zones of the today's music landscapes, there will never be another lana del rey, or born to die, or ultraviolence, she created something truly unique & special, yet they only respect her vision if it's one they can be comfortable with

"premature evaluation" is correct, i'm starting to feel like i was too harsh on the album after i first listen, but i'm thinking that i'm going to warm up to it a lot more (even though i haven't listened to it since it first leaked) give it time, all of her albums will be considered classics in time

still vouching for every member to have a "favorite ldr song" section for their profile/member tags, i think it would be really cool to see everybody's favorite lana song(s) and to express our own @May kinda does have a point, like, i don't feel like anything we request gets implemented, of course some ideas may not work with the website itself, or just simply aren't the greatest ideas, but i feel like it's pointless to even suggest anything because nothing happens

oh, sorry for the misunderstanding! lol! i don't really care for charts/sales either, regardless of whoever else might release, lana's album will still likely be successful, and we can't always change the fact that another popular artist could release the same day that lana does, it's all about the music & the art at the end of the day

in 2024 lana will upload the homemade music video of blue banisters to her "uhauljoe" channel and it'll be clips of nikki lane & jenny jumping into lana's swimming pool, that's it, just nikki & jenny jumping into lana's swimming pool
