My only critique would be the Britney Spears lyric… don’t make much sense to me in the context of the song. Guess she was trying a more modern take 

she's been in her " literal " lyric phase since post HBHBHB; idk i'm also kinda over the pop culture references in songs, like that's one of my gripes with ocean, the gimmicks have run their course

Halsey’s UMPG deal was also discontinued. When the artist and label are no longer on the same page and collaboration is at a dead end, those unrecouped monies leave a decidedly bitter taste—and render labels inclined to write the whole thing off and move on rather than throw more money at the problem. These are simply more unintended consequences of the new ecosystem, combined with the rise of social media as a means to publicly air one’s dirty laundry. “It’s been an incredible eight years,” read a statement from Halsey issued when the news of her exit broke. “We wish everyone the best.”

 

It seems that it was Capitol records who decided to not renew Halsey's contract. They lost 25 millions dollars on If I Can't Have Love I Want Power album.  

 

 

 

 

 

No wonder Sky is pissed and doesn't want to release her album. She wants a 25 million dollar budget too. 

not capitol trying to sabotage halsey as well and saying that no one will sign her... like at least we have confirmation that they are petty enough to never release sky. she will probably be signed to capitol until she dies

Basically, she's had the green light to release Masochism for years but she refused to because Capitol didn't want to do a big roll out for it. 

 

At least we have confirmation about that theory now. 

 

i'm just going to say this, so many things happen to her that are allegedly other peoples malicious doings that either makes her incredibly unlucky, tragically even, or a really unlikeable person.

The 80s influences were before their time but done much differently in comparison to say Dua Lipa. 
 

I’d argue her biggest influence came from her hyper pop era and sucker(more than TR).In suckers case you can see she revived female driven pop rock and it seems Olivia Rodrigo was atleast mildly inspired by her use of mixing film influences and pop rock from 00s/90s.There was also a wave of “90s” nostalgia music videos after sucker came out.

 

I think she’s trying to get at that people like Billie Eilish were inspired by her sonic template but I honestly do not hear it all despite TR being my favourite record it’s a cult classic that would be too difficult for most to replicate.

i thought lorde explicitly said she was inspired by grins though ribs is a better known song. 

i just remember when her and sky were releasing and it was like the battle of the tumblr gays as to who would have the better record and sky won by a landslide. 

i love true romance and it was released two weeks after a breakup for me, and i was 17 so it was incredible but it was horribly received back then even for stans.
