  1. Assuming we're not counting 14...

    Faves:

    1. You're the One

    2. Nuclear Seasons

    3. You (Ha Ha Ha)

    4. Set Me Free

    5. Breaking Up

    Least Faves:

    1. Die Tonight

    2. Boom Clap

    3. Hanging Around

    4. Red Balloon

    5. Gold Coins (this is according to Charli's song sorter but I think Break the Rules would be a better fit here - for some reason, that and the singles from Sucker appear twice)

  2. let's talk about this. do we REALLY know it was her and not Britney?

    The second verse though...  :flop:

Speaking of Myah Jean, Passenger came on shuffle today and it reminded me of how awful the vocal production is on the entire thing. I get that RCA wanted an album out for Vegas, but how could a major label have approved something that embarrassing?

  3. Her being 21 is more plausible than her being 15 :rip:

anyway I've determined I like her music and nothing else about her. I don't care for the aesthetic, I don't care for the persona and I don't care for her collaborators.

I never said that she was; I just posted that since it semi-confirms her real age seeing as we were placing her at around 23 when the thread opened. Also, I feel the opposite way about her: the persona/aesthetic is definitely a great draw factor into her musical output (as has been proven by the recent spike in views seen after the Night Mind video on her) and I do find it intriguing, but the music itself (aside from Money and Lowlife) is a bit of a letdown for me  :crossed:

  4. Even then she doesn't even have a writing credit on "Money" (her best song in my opinion)

She did co-write all of her material to date though; apparently she wasn't as involved with American Kids as her other songs (she only has an 18% split of the publishing rights) but that could just be an error on her publisher's part. Speaking of which, I forgot to post in here that her publishing company is named One One Nine Five Publishing, so she could actually be 21? I searched Twitter yesterday to verify her birthday and it turns out she actually was born on January 1st  :deadbanana:

  5. http://picosong.com/D4xF   :rip:

Her fans... they really try LMAOOOO. Like Call 911 and LTL would be on the album 6 years later  :toofloppy:

edit: OMFG STUPID BOY  :defeated:  :defeated:  :defeated:

I doubt any of the Xenomania tracks will make the album; the production team itself appears to have been wound down (their studio was put up for sale sometime last year) and in one of the interviews for Real Love, she doesn't even mention them by name and only talks about them briefly. I'm dying to know what exactly happened between them - if she grew tired of the songs and wanted to start over or if their working relationship ended on a sour note - but her social media profiles are extremely impersonal. All she seems to do is post pictures/videos of her driving/in the studio and maintain her Twitter relationship with Alfie Deyes  :flop:

  6. Why would she play a character that's 15? That's kinda weird  :dafuq:

From what I've watched/read, she never revealed her "actual" date of birth - in one interview, she states that she "does not identify with an age" - but in one of her videos she states that she was "created" on January 1st. I have no idea how people then gathered she was "born" in 2001, but basically that became her assumed age/DOB.

  7. She actually had a fairly successful music career before she changed her style. Her old merch from 2013 is still on District Lines, and they don't sell merch for just anyone.

I have an old song of her's called Doesn't Mean I'm Wrong.

If you try to view her Twitter or old YouTube channel on the web archive, you can't. Her people requested them to be removed; most likely to protect her new image. Although, not all of her tracks are covered if that is what's going on.

The name she uses for songwriting credit is Moriah Rose Pereira (I have reason to believe that that is her real name). I'd say she's at least 24-years-old. She's lived in Franklin, TN as an adult and went to middle school in Boston, MA.

I was actually going to post in here to ask if anyone found out how old she really is. I assumed she was around 23-24 too considering she befriended/appeared in multiple videos with Sam Pepper ( :flop:) in 2013 so she couldn't have been much younger than 18 plus the photos of her going back at least 4 years online, but I had no idea that you can't view her profiles on the Wayback Machine.

  8. never heard of her before and now i'm wondering how i haven't!

she strikes me as a more...listenable grimes? no hate for grimes but sometimes her music is too much at once.

    rainbow's aesthetic is wonderful :oprah:

the more i listen to her the more i love her voice :defeated:

I only heard of her through someone saying her vocals sounded like Annie's on Last (as in this Annie, not the musical) but I'm surprised too at how she's flown under the radar when her music is much easier to get into than Grimes'. Hopefully the album will get a few reviews once it comes out but I'm not getting my hopes up; it seems like most of the good Australian artists are being ignored tbh :poordat:

  9. Rainbow_Spacings_Banner.png

Rainbow Chan is a Sydney-based artist who self-writes and produces her own brand of innovative pop, infusing her Hong Kong background with left-of-centre beats and elements of Japanese electronic music and R&B. To date, she has released a number of standalone singles and 2013's Long Vacation EP, and is now preparing to release her debut album Spacings on 26th August. Three singles have been released so far from the project: Nest, Last and Work.

If you're a fan of the likes of Grimes, Jessy Lanza and Shura you'll probably like Rainbow as well (she's closer to the former two sonically but is fairly accessible too).

  10. Soundcloud. Those damn traders only hoard the good stuff, I swear lmaoooo. I linked one of them a few posts above

I'm pretty sure the "studio version" is the remix as there's a few other songs on that person's list that have already leaked :usrs:

  11. When she performs it live, isn't only the first half the Fred Falke remix? The intro is different too

Yeah I have that version too but it's still a remix. The original was never released.

The Fred Falke remix basically is the original; most of her earlier tracks (the likes of Fascinate Me, You Wanna Start Something, Panic Attack) were produced by him and subsequently released with him credited only as remixing the songs. Where did you see the live version circulating though?

  12. She's had sooo many "finished albums" over the past 5 years it's so sad. Sky Ferreira realness tbh.

I've seen the studio version of the live Call 911 is circulating... who wants to hmu with a link :flutter:

I doubt she's ever reached the stage of putting together a "tracklist" for an album to be honest. I do know, however, that she has a habit of constantly reworking songs (at least when she still worked with Xenomania) so that might be one of the reasons why she's been trapped in the studio since 2010 :poordat:

Do you mean the Fred Falke remix? She's only been performing variants of that and never the elusive "final" version we were promised 5 years ago (!) from what I've seen.

  13. I know this is kind of a reach but maybe that February date is just for the DE/CH/AT region? I say this because another artist I'm a fan of, Norma Jean Martine - who happens to be on the same label as Dua but worldwide (Vertigo/Capitol) - was supposed to have released a new instant grat track today ahead of her album in September (the 9th to be exact). However, I couldn't find anything on Spotify so checked my local iTunes and the German one where I found that the release date was moved back to January 20th (I already despise that date) but for some reason, the UK gets the track today and the album in October. Maybe the January date is still what Warner is aiming for and it's actually Universal that's screwing everything up idk  :creep:

  14. Basically echoing Andrew's sentiment above but...

Ellie [...] They're great managers, hopefully they can help her [...] the last era was a mess

...were you paying attention to the Delirium era by any chance?  :deadbanana:

It's good to see that she has the support of such a reputed company but as long as her current label is still in the mix, the delays are inevitable (if we even hear the next album).

  15. The iTunes preorder was just updated... with the release date pushed back by another three weeks to February 10th. I can't wait to see Trash Magic's (warranted) meltdown because she's well and truly OVER now :poordat:

  16.  her debut album "A Moment of Madness" is out on May 27th (although considering she's on Sony it'll probably be released in 2017)

Close enough - it's finally being released on September 2nd; final tracklisting and cover art below:

There's also a White Tiger EP being released at some stage with the songs dropped from the album (Open to You, Floating Lamps and Sweet Like Honey).

  17. yay so glad to find another fan!!! sad to hear that the DDG stuff didn't hit you well. i still need to give it a shot soon. I just want more from her, she's so good!

It's not that the songs themselves are bad, it's just that she seems to be lost in the mix behind the instrumental at times, so it's quite a switch up from the Kristin album where her vocals are front and center. If you do want to get into the DDG stuff though, Too True is definitely the best place to start as it's the closest album sonically to X-Communicate.

  18. Definitely in my top 5 albums of the year, and glad to see that she finally has a thread - I've tried to get into her DDG discography after loving this album so much, but semi-failed because of the excessive reverb on most of the songs :noparty:

  19. Well, the album's out...

    tumblr_nt3wf5SkIF1shaaz3o1_500.gif

She shouldn't have admitted she freestyled most of the songs because you can really notice the lack of afterthought/effort put into some songs. It's by no means a bad album but I expected more from her, so I'm kind of disappointed that this is the debut we've waited 6 years for.  :crossed:

On a sidenote, she also said in the same interview she may release Eleuthero in the future as her second album so there's hope yet I guess?

  20. I really tried, but it seems people do not dig her much on this forum :( The new album is amazing. I love it.

Personally I don't get the criticism of it being "weirder" than HT since the first 5 tracks and Romantic Comedy are easily more "accessible" than the majority of her last album IMO. With that being said, the last two songs are a bit too experimental just for the sake of being so, but on the whole I prefer it to HT.

What I can't get over though is her doing a proper photoshoot after revealing the cover art - these could have easily made better covers:
