A jazzy (or jazz fusion) concept album called Divorce would actually slay tbh. Lana dressing like a 50s lounge singer with pearls, black dresses, and curls for the visuals.

I’d like for her to stay in the psychedelic rock sphere, but I’d be so here for full-on jazz. Like the outro of St Vincent’s Pills meets Nina Simone

Cooing is Lana’s thing - same with Mazzy Star. She did it on Born to Die too. But she does bring out vocals every now and then - especially her almost operatic head voice. Glad to hear it return on the title track.

Y’all are confusing auto tune with filters and layering. A couple of BTD songs used it stylistically, though.

The way this album perfectly melds together psychedelic folk/rock, surf rock, and 60s-inspired piano ballads. We have to stan a classic.

California tugs at my heartstrings at a crazy level when it hits the chorus. Actually, so much of this album has incredibly raw emotion.

That blogger is kind of a known conspiracy theorist with regard to Pitchfork, though. I can't find it now, but there was a reddit thread featuring some who had written for the site and said the score was chosen by the writer. I've always believed it was an average, though.

That's what I always thought as well, but I read recently that the score comes from the reviewer alone.
