i dont see why everyone is so definitive about this song being about lorde, it could be about many people

my skips are the alchemy (sorry), thank you aimee, peter, the bolter, robin and the manuscript

the amount of ppl emerging from the shadows to say theyre fans because of this post is very telling; i really disliked 90% of portals but maybe the album wouldve been a success if she wasnt using that fugly costume the whole time

speaking of albums that would benefit from editing -- lover. i was thinking about how the reception of the whole era would be completely different if the album was 12 tracks long. in a perfect world my tracklist for lover is:
Spoiler
- cruel summer (lead single)
- i think he knows (3rd single)
- paper rings
- lover (2nd single)
- the archer (promo single)
- miss americana
- cornelia street (promo single)
- death by a thousand cuts
- it's nice to have a friend
- false god
- afterglow
- daylight (4th and final single)
(although soon you'll get better is a beautiful song, it is so personal and so depressing i feel like i'm invading something i shouldn't be hearing when i listen to that song. also it has nothing to do with the rest of the album. i hate her attempts to be ""political"" with the man and yntcd and i think the more subtle approach of miss americana is much better. also i'd release a deluxe version including need, all of the girls, london boy.
the miss americana documentary in hindsight feels like a joke since she ditched the whole "taking the tape off my mouth" as soon as she realised she still had time to be just as popular as the peak of her career at that point (1989 era). the best parts of it to me is getting to know more vunerable parts of taylor in her personal life, so i think it should've been about that, especially since she released it in the lover era.

i think this album suffers from the lack of editing, not only in terms of what tracks were going to be released but also in the songwriting. some of the songs in it do sound like what taylor sounds like to people who dont like her music - the title track for exemple. but i do love it and i see the vision, i just think the mixed reviews she's getting are going to push her into a more focused writing, and also i think she's switching producers in the next album

Why is The Black Dog the opener? Why is The Albatross, one of the most folky songs on the record, right after imgonnagetyouback, which is a spacey vibey pop song? It only makes it worse that the standard TTPD has literally her best tracklist.
omg yes i completetly agree, feels like theres no cohesion in this tracklisting

i think it's good this album is not getting universal acclaim like midnights, although i love it i recognize it has many flaws and taylor always makes a better record when she is receives criticism (rep/lover not winning grammies > folklore/evermore, red not being cohesive > 1989)

i saw one dazed review that was just talking shit about her as a person and then made fun of some off context lines on the songs.. like how can you call yourself a journalist with this type of work ethic.. this is a news outlet not yout twitter account

and it's not like if the critics decline this album then it's the end for Taylor, she can just release another one next year and wins again lmao
no but really i would love if the delulu fans went away, i lowkey kiss the fandom as it was back in the original red era

it's weird because i always thought b sides were just a collection of songs that were scrapped from the main album, but this one just looks like a whole new thing cause shes been working on it for so long

so high school is actually great and so funny, it's a bummer so many people don't have any literacu or sense of humor when it comes to taylor's writing and take everything so seriously
-
red is on my top 3, but i never listen to the more pop leaning songs in it. it would be perfect as a country album. when i listen to red my tracklist excludes: trouble, 22, wanegbt and stay stay stay

i think debut is going to be great, i'm taking fearless as an example since it is the most similar to debut in sound and (imo) the best re-recording. also taylor didn't really know how to sing on half of the songs on debut so i'm super excited to hear those songs with her older voice. since she announced the re-recordings this was the album i was most excited to hear and she decided to release it last

idk about that because we knew why it ended, it was all on midnights - so long london just feels like revamped youre losing me. i think she sounds exausted because she was exausted
