Taylor would never "accidentally" confirm Lana's engagement to People Magazine and then lie to Lana and say they made that up and she never said that...

SPEAK ON IT!!! Cause Nikki was so nasty for that shit. “they took it out of context” there is no other context for that…. And sorry to make the obligatory not a swiftie comment, I just mean I’m just not saying this defensively, it’s just obvious Taylor is not a birdbrained individual who would talk to the media about her “friend’s” love life. Making fun of another musician’s music publicly is low class too, also something Taylor or Lana wouldn’t do but that foul woman has no manners.

Lana saying Tessa DiPietro lifted her cough or whatever is the same thing as someone saying prayers healed them :oprah6: it’s really not that serious

well both are delusional and i’d make fun of someone who said prayers healed them too

This is the guy she got the Jergins Tunnel audio from! I was searching the videos on youtube to find it and then I stumbled on him postinf the link on reddit. He said she didn’t ask to use it but he’s flattered despite everyone else telling him she needs to pay up. (Which lowkey… probably. Or just a big old Beyonce bouquet of flowers.)

His whole channel I think is about Long Beach, CA’s history so I think he’s just gagged to see it be mainstream knowledge.

how come so many popular artists have been  releasing long albums in 2023-2024, and how do you feel about this trend? sza released SOS with 23 tracks, m*rgan w*lien released an album with 36 tracks, drake’s recent album was 23 tracks, beyoncé’s cowboy carter has 27 tracks, and now taylor has released an album with 31 tracks.

personally, i don’t really like this trend…i think it takes away from the artistry of an album being created with intention and clarity. it is overwhelming for the listener, and yeah you can listen to the whole album slowly, but i’d much rather have a clean-cut album to listen to on release day.

I have mixed feelings. For a lot of those artists I think it’s them trying to flood their streaming numbers. In the early digital era it was reliant on people buying singles, but with streaming you don’t have to buy anything and can listen to a full album (not that many people do) for free. So they just pump out what they can and aren’t as discerning with track choice. It can definitely indicate low artistic integrity. For SZA, she spent about 6 years inbetween CTRL and SOS and you can tell she put care into the song versus Morgan who…..

Cowboy Carter had 27 tracks BUT like 4 were interludes. And I think regardless the intention shines through on CC. So much attention was put into the production and songwriting. The music is GOOD so it’s not at all a chore to listen to.

I don’t think a long album is necessarily bad. But off the top of head (=i.e. your examples), the good ones reflect intention and precision in that they spent considerable time on the album, from mixing to production to track flow.

But that’s obviously a labor intensive feat and isn’t possible to achieve if you’re Drake or taylor and have been releasing project after project.

On the flipside, I think super short albums also make me doubt the artist’s passion and drive. I haven’t heard Ariana’s but I get your point in it being good cause there’s no filler as that’s generally my thoughts on Guts. Dua Lipa’s doing a 10 track album, the first in 3 years or so, and she’s already released 3. Waiting for a new album of 7 songs just feels like waiting for a collection of singles or something. That plus a 4 show tour it’s like… are you just not into making music anymore?

Overall if the music’s good it’s good. You shouldn’t go in aiming to be an album with 30 tracks or 15 or 10- you should do what’s natural. Quality should come over quantity, but if you’re only happy with 30-40 minutes from years of your potential studio time then :/

Something I want to learn more about is how music is consumed today and how streaming has affected not just like, marketing tactics and sales numbers but the actual music making itself.

  5. UMMM pop emergency. I have another yap session- I meant to bring this up last night! In without you, both her live vocals and the backing track routinely left out “if you wanna see me fall” and “your love is deadly,” at least this week.

Do we think she feels uncomfortable singing that now cause they are an unhealthy view of love/indicate abuse, a la “I won’t sing he hit me and it felt like a kiss anymore,” or was she merely trying to avoid controversy?

OR is she taking away the strictly romantic aspect of the song to highlight her using to song to say the fame and money mean nothing without love from family, friends and even the fans and her artistic vision? I lean towards this one frankly, but also think she’s acknowledging love doesn’t involve breaking yourself and that family and friends generally don’t ask for that the way a romantic partner might. I think including the china doll line but not “if you want to see me fall” is saying, yes I can be a fragile, vulnerable person but I won’t let that be taken advantage of. Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness.

orrrr am i overthinking and it’s a fluke?

(psa: i don’t think those lines glamorize abuse. they’re also some of my favorite lyrics)

    crazy

her entire demeanor was better. she was so confident, she knew she was THE bitch. everything was better than last week, even the livestream itself.

also it looked like the audience had more true fans this time, people were screaming and chanting her name, singing along

they sang along loud as hell to ARCADIA like people were right when they said weekend 2 has less influencers

I think that the black outfit looked good on her (very Lasso!) but I loved the blue dresses more because they were so fairytale-y + the glamorous hair

I keep having to remind myself they couldn’t do much with the hair because otherwise those gorgeous veils wouldn’t have worked and the veils are an obvious must have.

Ok in get free she says “out of the black into the blue” like it’s a positive thing. Like she’s becoming happier. But during Coachella she literally goes from blue to black in outfit changes meaning a return to her darker mindset. The intro song (My My, Hey Hey-Neil Diamond) also says “out of the blue into the black” and talks about basically going hard instead of fizzling out. The hologram cage interlude talked about women being mothers or virgins and how those are the only acceptable choices in society. But then goes on to talk about sensuality and creativity and not being caged by just the two choices of virgin or mother. She’s mused a lot about motherhood especially in Ocean Blvd and I think this could all point to her giving up having kids and just focusing on her career, her art. Also the ending where she’s carried out felt like a funeral instead of the usual psych ward vibe, then she’s almost reborn into a new era that is just for her. Of course this could all just me being tired af and unhinged.

Someone else that’s better an analyzing this stuff chime in! Lol

my sleep deprived addition: Neil Young’s song is essentially about musicians fearing fading away and having to fight that, and how fame can come and go so easily. It references so many artists who lived fast and died young, and burn out/fade way was quoted in Kurt’s suicide note. It’s very much a sister song to Did you know… I think it definitely corresponds with the hope ending looking like a funeral.

https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/neil-young-song-about-johnny-rotten/ this is an article i like about it and there’s more reading you can do on the meaning. it’s not as cunt as jealous girl but understanding the message to this song is integral to her whole setlist i think. I’m too sleep deprived to really get into it but like!!!

  9. I can only make out one of the books (thanks to reubengotto posting it on his story) from hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have but i have it.

The Proud Highway: Saga of a Desperate Southern Gentleman by Hunter S. Thompson

    - He was a major figure in the counterculture movement and created Gonzo journalism, in which the journalist becomes the central figure in the story and essentially blurs fact and fiction. Thompson is known for his substance abuse and other destructive behaviors. He also sexually assaulted at least one woman.

    Spoiler

“Here, for the first time, is the private and most intimate correspondence of one of America’s most influential and incisive journalists–Hunter S. Thompson. In letters to a Who’s Who of luminaries from Norman Mailer to Charles Kuralt, Tom Wolfe to Lyndon Johnson, William Styron to Joan Baez–not to mention his mother, the NRA, and a chain of newspaper editors–Thompson vividly catches the tenor of the times in 1960s America and channels it all through his own razor-sharp perspective. Passionate in their admiration, merciless in their scorn, and never anything less than fascinating, the dispatches of The Proud Highway offer an unprecedented and penetrating gaze into the evolution of the most outrageous raconteur/provocateur ever to assault a typewriter.”

i’m doing this little analysis but watch it turn out that it was just a random book they had packed to read on the trip down.

I think that second looks must be from that custom western wear guy in Nashville she posted last year. So many people thought it would be her grammy outfit

edit: manuelcouture on instagram but it looks like he mainly does shirts and not like. leather dresses :/ but molly dickinson follows him so!

Ohh radioheads guitarist is named jonny thats interesting. On twitter someone suggested John Janick who works at her label although I think she’s always had nice things to say about him. FJM also goes by Josh irl not John/Johnny
