I don't know if it was Boz or Kintsugi who said that the album only makes sense listening completely from start to finish, in order.

I didn't feel that on Ocean Blvd, but I definitely understood what he meant when I heard A&W: it seems like the song starts after a lot has happened, and when it ends, it's abruptly, which makes it feel like there's going to be a lot more to come.

I can clearly see the previous track (Sweet) with the early A&W piano, as well as the next track, Judah's Interlude, with a similar beat from Jimmy's part. May all tracks have these smooth transitions. It will be so nice to hear.

I finished reading 'Play It As It Lays' by Joan Didion & I don't know how to feel. it reminded me of TS Eliots 'The Waste Land' - “I can connect nothing with nothing.”

& the final szn of Mad Men (which MUST'VE taken inspiration from it). Its a sad, lonely & desperate novel but stunning.. it's no wonder she is heralded as such a fantastic writer.

I'm looking fwd to watching the netflix docu on her soon / checking out more of her novels.

besides that, I'm in the middle of 'On The Road' by Jack Kerouac & Leonard Cohen's 'A Ballet of Lepers' rn & I will review those when finished:really:

lovelovelovelove her nonfiction works, have yet to read play it as it lays though but it's def on my list. 'Slouching Towards Betlehem' is one of my all time favs, would highly recommend

Even with the change in date of the album release, I feel like this is the smoothest era so far in recent history. I think we quickly forget how uniquely awful the waiting period for NFR! was (I wasn't on LB at the time, but I remember waiting in annoyance through most of late 2018 to mid 2019), the disaster that was the COTCC announcement (+ the White Hot Forever announcement) and the radio silence making us think the whole album had been scrapped post-QFTC, and the total ambiguity of the Rock Candy Sweet -> Blue Banisters release dates.

We really lucked out with Did You Know

ur right. let's be grateful and bow down to the queen
