You gotta understand: seeing this guy go from the biggest LDR hater on the planet during BTD and UV to the biggest fan on Earth, crying to Happiness is a Butterfly and giving NFR and OB the biggest praise, was extremely satisfying. Let him pray at the altar of Lana Del Rey and serve as an example to everyone who isn't (yet).

". the album cover is the same aesthetic if the picsart edit and the henry cover with creams and beiges" No way. Lana doesn't fuck with her album covers, and we know she's done with Neil K. so we good. For me, it's just a matter of whether it'll be wedding/swamp themed, or country, or Americana themed. She hasn't done American flag colors in a while so I'm leaning towards that, Trump or not.

It's the acoustic guitar, the register she's singing in, the country vibe, and the general uplifting mood. It's not on-the-nose similarity. But if Tough was the next song on the album right after Henry, it would flow super smoothly. Like, same DNA. Only Henry is the Mariner's of the album, and Tough is the Doin' Time.

Ah, man, they give such high praise so rarely. They only gave it to NFR and OB. Most other artists like Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus don't have a single Best New Music. Not even Billie Eilish. The highest she's got is 7.6. But then, the album has been two years in the making so who knows.

So true. I cannot believe this is her tenth record in a relatively short amount of time, and then she still has the inspiration and drive to create something so beautiful. And, again, not pandering to the masses, not shaking her ass, not chasing charts or the trend. Just producing MUSIC to the best of her abilities. Honestly, I feel like I'm already fed in this era. I got Henry, I got Tough. I'm done! My Best of Lana playlist is topped up, like it was with OB and A&W. If I get Prettiest Girl in Country Music or Fenway or both, I will be sorted for life. She doesn't even need to make another record. Not to mention that thematically she's resonating with me again. People leaving, some staying, getting married. This is my vibe this year. (My wedding's in 3 months)

Same. So many other questions on my mind: 1. How many has Jack produced? 2. Will Pitchfork flag Henry as 'Best New Track'/ They weren't keen on Ocean Boulevard, maybe because it was a bit forlorn. In fact, only Video Games, A&W, Venice Bitch the Greatest and Love got Best New Track. Given that Henry is more upbeat like most of these songs, maybe they'll give it to him. 3. Will Fantano like Henry? I reckon he will. 4. Will Tough be on the record? It would fit so well with Henry. 5. Will we get Prettiest Girl in Country Music. That song is so fire, please, Lana. 6. When the fuck is the album actually coming out.
-
Obviously, it was more country than this, but she said 'nah'. Like Tough, I think it's just the right amount of country. Country by way of Lana Del Rey. Aka take what's good about country, and throw away the rest. That being said, I hope we get a few songs like Prettiest Girl in Country Music that go all-in.

Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost x Young & Beautiful or Buddy's Rendezvous x Did You Know That There's a Tunnel... Or Video Games x Wild at Heart

You mean 6 months between the first single and the rest of the album? I don't think this album is coming out in May. I mean, May is like 20 days away, and we just got the first single. Maybe it's not 6+ months away, but it's not dropping before June/July,I should think.
-
Completely with you on Drew. He does nothing for me. But I think his strings here sound fantastic, and they sure did on OB. Are they on Craig Armstrong level (Young and Beautiful)? Nope. But that's a very high bar to reach. Henry is great.
-
Puh-lease. Henry (8/10, maybe even higher) >>>>>> Let Me Love You (5/10)
-
Honestly, this might be in the top 20 LDR songs for me. Ranking just for fun: 1. Venice Bitch 2. Ride 3. Video Games 4. West Coast 5. Young & Beautiful 6. Born to Die 7. Summertime Sadness 8. Blue Jeans 9. Did You Know that there's a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard 10. Henry, Come On 11. The greatest 12. Norman Fucking Rockwell 13. White Dress 14. Mariner's Apartment Complex 15. Chemtrails Over the Country Club etc.

not a chance in hell for me lmao. 10,000 streams in the coming week alone loading.. I will overplay the heck out of this, especially since I'll be in the States next week, and this is so Americana-coded.
-
Hmmm. A lot of OB was pretty dark and forlorn. Fuck me to death, American whore, I'll take x and x with me when I die... The string orchestra is the only resemblance really, and similar in production. But she's used strings during Born to Die, Paradise, Gatsby, too, so I wouldn't call OB her 'string era'. Especially since strings only feature on a handful of songs. More importantly, Henry is a much lighter, uplifting song. It's more in the vein of Chemtrails due to its acoustic guitar/folksy vibes or even Love/LFL era. Maybe we're getting the Chemtrails/LFL combo I was dreaming about. If Tough and/or Mirror are on there, that'll be the confirmation I need. Bring on the tracklist, Lana!
-
For sure. I'm still not expecting this song to end up on Billboard 100 or anything. We just had Tough and the Abyss on there anyways, and SYTH not long before that. So we don't need a commercial success.

Where did these Brooklyn Baby comparisons come from? Super random. Songs it actually sounds similar to: Not All Those Who Wander, Ride, Chemtrails, How to Disappear, Young and Beautiful, Wild at Heart. It's like a mix up of all of those. With a hint of Video Games because of the harp, and Ocean Boulevard (the single) because of the violins. I bet whoever plays the violin here also played it on Ocean Boulevard.
-
Nope. Nothing to do with BB. It starts off low-key like a Chemtrails cut (Not All Those Who Wander are Lost, for example.) with an acoustic guitar and Lana's voice only... But then it ads a piano, a violin, some soft drum, and then more strings, a harp... And then it turns into a sorta country-infused Young and Beautiful orchestral production like on Ocean Boulevard (the single). I think I hear a wind ensemble too, but def lots of strings, a jazz piano, and who knows what else. It's lush

OMG YES 100% THIS. All those girlies you mentioned might be resurrected once this album drops, I swear.

Hahahaaha. I posted already, babes. "Okay, I'm over the fucking Moon. We won. - Henry far exceeded my expectations. - Not All Those Who Wander meets Young & Beautiful. I did not see that coming. - Clearly the snippet we heard last year was an early demo with just the guitar and Lana's voice. - Full orchestral Lana is my favorite ballad-mode Lana. I am fed. - The production is soo Americana, lush, and expansive, I'm gagged. - The violins, MY GAWD. - I definitely hear a bit of Ride, a bit of How to Disappear, a bit of Chemtrails, a bit of Ocean Boulevard... But this is also clearly a new era. - Just the right amount of country, and the right amount of (classic) Lana. - Y'all would hate me for saying this, but Tough would fit really well near this track. It's just as dense and country-infused. Kinda like Doin' Time following on from Mariner's. - The instrumental before the bridge is gorgeous AF. - Definitely first single-worthy. - Henry ---> Blue Banisters, Let Me Love You Like a Woman, and it's not even close. - And we thought it was going to bomb. Lana really had the last laugh. What I'm not a fan of: - The annoying sound of vocal reverb sneaking up right before she starts singing. I will never NOT hear it. - The first time I listened to the song, I could not understand any of the lyrics in the chorus due to the high register she's singing in. Could be a very obvious sound recording, engineering or mixing issue because my Airpod Max are great. - In that sense, I think it's a far cry Young and Beautiful in terms of hook/catchiness. Not that it needed to be, but it's just odd not being able to understand what she's singing in the chorus at all when everything else is clear. It's a first for me with Lana. 8/10. As far as first singles go, personal ranking: Ride West Coast Video Games Henry, Come On / Did You Know that that there's a Tunnel Ocean Boulevard Mariner's Apartment Complex Love High by the Beach Let Me Love You Like a Woman / Blue Banisters (The last two tracks on this list. )"
-
It has the potential to be the most classic. Just because of the Americana/country genre itself. It's kind of like her home turf, so my expectations are now high. If we get a Chemtrails Volume 2 with languid songs, beautiful melodies, lush production, plenty of violins and cowboy/Americana/moonshine/diner references, I will legit DIE. Are we in for Lana's Cowyboy Carter era and a Grammy?
-
They probably heard an early demo with just the acoustic guitar pluck and Lana's voice. But to be honest the song-writing is so good and the melody is so good that I wouldn't mind that low-key version. Henry beats all of her singles and collabs since Ocean Boulevard and AW. So: Grants, Candy Necklace, Lost at Sea, Tough, The Abyss, etc.
-
Haha. Would love that since I loved Fenway so much. But I can't see that. I can see Tough on the record though.
