really hoping we're getting glitch pop because
Spoilerwe've had more than enough piano whisper vocals since NFR

Spoilerskimmed thru all of the songs and only peppers and grandfather sound good. first impression is flop album 2bh. ill take a nap then come back to it
-
also the grants really sounds like it was going to transition into beautiful people, beautiful problems at many moments
-
she should've released grandfather instead cause the grants is lame and really kills the momentum she had with AW
-
the new song is not good............ and it rightfully feels like the incomplete intro song it is meant to be

tbh she can make anyone's voice sound good paired with hers, for me it's more about how they're mixed & if the production makes them sound good together, so i do have some faith in the male vocals on the album... thinking about for free though but that feels more like a composition issue and less like a mixing issue
LMAO at that guy's vocals

i'm ready for paris, texas cause that's actually a great film and very lana-like. the whole story seems like something from AKA

probably but if not she likely had friends that did that kind of work and deeply empathized with it

This was my #1 complaint with COCC and BB: very few songs on those albums get that balance right, at least in my (probably unpopular) opinion. One exception is BBS
For me, TUOB is in similar vein to songs like Textbook, Arcadia and Wildfire. They just all give me the sense that they are poems with musical accompaniment, rather than songs. IMO a song marries the two qualities seamlessly and these songs (including TUOB) just don't.
And this opinion has nothing to do with the meaning of the song - I grasp that as well as the next person, I think, and the meaning is very impactful - it's more the composition that I don't like.
So you know, for me, it's just okay. It's interesting because of the lyrics but do I want to sit and listen to it on repeat? No.
I love the final third of the song but I think I understand what you mean because to me it sounds heroic, hopeful, a little bittersweet, yet optimistic. And that runs contrary to "don't forget me"/"love me until I love myself"/"when's it gonna be my turn"

the grants will set the record straight about daddy's money
or maybe some shit about colonizers and pilgrims (karmic lineage, arcadia)

the x VB part
sounds like she brought in apollo/saifdelrey into the studio. ITS LAZY
wild at heart's sample works better and AW's two songs in one concept was executed just right
