Didn’t BoZ say that the cover she posted was one out of three possible?

don't remember about that tbh but what gives me hope is its design. nothing is easier than to change the text that isn't even on the picture itself

also arcadia in the meaning of innocence, simple and quiet pleasure suits the current cover so well:hdu:

Babe I love Lana and will defend this puta till I’m blue in the head, I just miss being excited being a stan for her, she is by far my favourite artist but it’s difficult connecting with her music the same way, like releases used to be so well thought out and her artistry commanded so much grandeur and escapism that really made things interesting but I can’t help but feel her releases these last few records have felt so much like she’s caved into trying to appeal to critics and like an older crowd as if her audience isn’t entirely made up of Generation Z listeners

Like I don’t want her depressed, some of unreleased happy Lizzy songs are some of her BEST and I don’t def wouldn’t want her to be singing songs about partying and drugs or whatever it is commonly associated with younger artists, but maturing definitely does not need to mean making more boring music

Laid back instrumentation DOES NOT imply better quality art and honestly with a few standout tracks Chemtrails was honestly a miss and whilst these last 3 singles are beautiful melodically it’s like...girl we’ve heard this a million times

She experimented so much as an artist in the past, and I can’t help but feel she’s stagnated as an artist like we’ve been stuck on like the same similar topics in different fonts for like so long, her writing has grown leaps and bounds which is great but at the end of the day it’s music and if it sounds sonically boring it’s boring like if I wanted to hear literature I’d listen to an audiobook

i understand what you mean and when i listen to previous albums i miss those kinds of songs too, the angry, hopeless ultraviolence, dreamy cinematic honeymoon. but i think what she's doing now isn't for critics or certain parts of audience, it really reflects how lana herself evolves. maybe it sounds naive but i see her as an almost independent singer songwriter expressing herself and her own experience through music, not a usual pop singer following trends.

i miss those eras, moods and sounds, her unreleased from 2010-2013 are amazing. but they just don't suit her anymore. we change, she changes too and it doesn't always go along. but i personally just accepted it and watch what road she takes next, and i'm almost sure it won't be just piano ballads forever:what:

sorry guys idk what thread this technically belongs in (ig updates? pre release? random convo? help :defeated:), but I just edited the selfie + hydrangeas from her most recent ig post like they could be for the BB album shoot, these are the vibes I'm trying to manifest and when I saw the pics that lyric immediately came to mind

this looks SO beautiful!!! like an LP cover straight from the 70s! i can't some of you guys really should work with lana :oprah:

Can someone throw ideas of what they think this album is gonna sound like, realistically? We know she doesn't like to repeat eras (is that even true tho or did i just pull that out of my ass?) so i'm not expecting this album to be too similar to Chemtrails :bebe:

Tangentially, what song(s) from NFR would u say Chemtrails grew from? And what song(s) on Chemtrails do we think BB will grow from/expand on (both sonically/thematically)? :what:

it will be slow and very personal, even more personal than COCC, it will start with piano songs, move to TB & more things like it, take a rockish break with thunder and return to piano in the end with a heartbreaking song. :flutter: and so far BB gives me white dress/LMLYLAW/DTWD vibes (the BRIDGE:trisha: I CRAVE for a whole song in that style)

now that jack's gone i hope she will find a new sound though, even if it stays very stripped-down. idk, even with WW and BB you can tell it's something a bit different. not to be a jack hater i'm just tired of him and kinda want her to move on

Text Book is still so good:krylie:

The atmosphere in it, the noises in the verses,  the tempo change,  when the background singers sing oooh it sounds so haunting,  the river noises in the outro :trisha:

They way we are about to get probably more songs by Zach & Gabe Simon..we won:angie::oprah:

it's still my favorite out of the three! partly just because it's not piano driven:bebe: i mean i love ww and bb but text book kinda stands out. almost reminds me of honeymoon with all those details. really hope there are more songs with such production on the album

We’re getting very much ahead of ourselves. Ben or Ed (can’t remember which one) said we’d get the album before end of year. Does it mean it’s a certainty? Not at all, but his caption makes me believe the album was talked about with Lana and it should be out before or in December.

ben posted bb cover and captured it "2 albums in a year" so technically yes... but  i don't really trust anyone after everything we've been through:toofloppy:

i'm looking forward to transitions in this album! she should've had a full transition album for a long time ago, i could see ultraviolence, honeymoon and NFR! having seamless transitions that would really make sense

    4 versions of the album, explicit w/ transitions, explicit w/o transitions, non-explicit w/ transitions and non-explicit w/o transitions :thumb3:

i love transition from freak to art deco but i also hate the fact you can't even hear it on vinyl cause they're on different records:toofunny: so yeah manifesting more on BB

wouldn’t be mad if lana swapped out nikki lane for him on her upcoming country collabs… :usrs:

now that's the country collab we all really need:icant:

I just got conflicting feelings of her releasing unreleased stuff that we’ve heard before, I feel like in the past for me it’s usually a hit or miss. Like I love Architecture but I don’t vibe that much with the Best American Record. I too quickly get attached to the demo and then feel weird about the new version

Does anyone else feel that way?

like I’m excited for Thunder but if it’s changed a lot I wonder what it could be like

same. it's not even just instrumentals or lyrics that bother me about BAR, the whole emotion is different from the demo. i love thunder and i hope it won't happen with it but i still can't really imagine how it would fit with the singles the way it is, maybe it'll be the next HBTB/TJF... i just hope that electric guitar isn't going anywhere:icant:

  10. i NEEDED to get my thoughts out somewhere ever since march so! i actually loved the album, i wish there were more songs but it still feels compact and complete. it never seemed to me like a continuation of NFR, there are certain similarities, but all in all it's a standalone body of work. in particular because of how personal it is - probably the most personal album of lana's, i guess. BB might take that title tho, judging by the singles.

    Spoiler

her raw vocals in white dress still break my heart. so deeply nostalgic and sincere. the bridge!!! but i would still go back if i could do it all again, i thought, because it made me feel, made me feel like a god... :lange: i wanna go back too!!! music video was a bit of a bummer to me tbh cause i expected something more after the COCC one which was a cinematic masterpiece. god i remember searching for it on some sketchy russian website like an hour or two before its official release because i couldn't wait any longer lmao

COCC is so beautiful. starts as a piano ballad but turns out to be one of the most multi-layered songs along with TJF. it sounds dreamy and almost... anxious at the same? the way she sings the chorus and those sounds of a plane engine and wolf howling (i guess? i'm talking about effects during "suburbia, the brentwood market" and "it's never too late baby so don't give up") give me that vibe. i wish album version had outro vocals from the music video cause they somehow remind me of UV. and i loved the single cover with the wolf so much, if only it could be the album cover...

i have to confess i was a bit worried about autotune in TJF snippet but it came out to suit the whole song perfectly! those background vocals during "we'll be white hot forever", it truly sounds like something else. TJF feels to be to COCC what HBTB was to honeymoon.

LMLYLAW somehow turned out to be my most-streamed song by lana last year? i don't listen to it as much as i did when it was released as a single but the lyrics still hit right at home:xcry:

dark but just a game was the first song on the album that got stuck on repeat for quite a long time. i really love the story behind it and its message. so i'm not gonna change, i'll stay the same:illumilana2:

finally listening to yosemite after all those years was so relieving. it has that sound effect from btd that makes me nostalgic and i actually like the simplicity of lyrics, and i think it fits COCC much better than LFL.

the dance til we die bridge.... I NEED MORE!!!

and the best one, wild at heart:trisha: it remains my favorite from the start. i don't even care it uses instrumental of HTD, i actually think it fits WAH even better but i like to think of it as background vocals UV and FMWUTT share. pre-chorus is so heartbreaking i don't think i'll ever recover from it (but the polka dots line always sends me tho). chorus is BEAUTIFUL. the outro? one of THE BEST along with text book

and i haven't yet listened to those left out that much but there's always time to re-discover them, even though i still wish BUS and for free weren't collabs:eek: i really hope to get my hands on the vinyl someday. it's always a bit different listening to albums that way and just the right way to get into songs you missed.
