Bye. Sounds like she's releasing it as an "art piece" first because she knows if she releases singles now, almost no one will want this ugly ass 1FT bottle. The design is literally just a grey pot with an uncanny valley creature head on top like one of those cartoon character apple juice bottles at the grocery store checkout. She could have done so much better.. just look at the Cry Baby perfume.

I've defended her a lot in the past, but I can't act like this one is just an "artistic career choice" or whatever- it's just dumb.

That's basically been this whole era in a nutshell. Could've, should've, would've been great, had so much potential, but here we are. 

The perfumes are especially weird. The expense of them with the inability to buy bottles separately is a stupid idea to begin with, but to throw such a boring and ugly design on it, then make it a fucking FOOT TALL is actually ridiculous. I'm over this era and the constant defending of her bad decisions. I feel like she knows she could do better, but just decided not to.

This bottle is fucking atrocious.   

And this whole era is just the ugliest missed opportunity compared to what she could've done with all of this. Like.. what the fuck?

The "blinking eyes" CGI for that teaser was so bad, too, holy shit. This era is just too ugly for the budget it must be demanding.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth when celebrities post shit like that and then the next slide is a promotion for their new album/movie/fucking perfume.

Like, I'm glad people are spreading awareness and all, but it really reads as "ONLY WE CAN STOP THIS GENOCIDE, THE TIME IS NOW! Also, buy my new perfumes available soon in my shop, thanks!"

There's going to be a Portals perfume. Not sure how I feel about this announcement, though. I think I'd be excited if I wasn't disappointed that the announcement wasn't for something more interesting, lol..

My most played are Pluto, Powder, Void, and Womb in that order, but I'd play most of the other tracks more if the lyrics were tweaked a little(some are too repetitive or corny for me) and the production was better.

A full studio version of K+OLs Faerie Soiree and Tunnel Vision would've made Portals a 10/10 though!

I love her weirdness, the costume was cute at first, but there's not enough going right in this era yet to make up for its flaws. Her wearing that mask for every show feels like it's defeating the purpose of watching her sing live, too. Her whole appeal is her vivid expressions, emotional performances, and the sense of connection the audience felt with her..

When all you can see is her lower jaw, all of that is gone and it all feels lifeless. I don't care to keep up with the tours at this point- and that's pretty much all this era has been, so it's basically Dead to Me.

I wish she'd at least post more of the photoshoots for Portals, it'd feel a lot less dead by now. And some pictures have been coming out that are clearly part of the shoots she started the era with, so it's not like she has to get into full costume and take a bunch of new ones.

Also, after seeing almost every single mask and outfit made for her so far get shown off on IG, I'm a little sad we haven't gotten to see more of the wigs up close! The big, fluffy white one that she wore in that Void TikTok has me so curious. Never seen a wig move like that.

If it wasn't literally just a messy copy of the exact same design down to the markings on the wings, I'd say the same!  The dishonesty disappoints me though, coming from people that did not seem like the type to lie over stupid shit.

In the end, Verde didn't create the design and should've credited the original artist.

Eventually, Ash's team finally backtracked, admitted they "took inspiration" from V, and publicly gave her credit- but not until Ash lost a ton of followers and got a ton of hate.

What bothers me about these incidents is the lack of transparency and acknowledgement from the plagiarizing party. If it was an accident, say something. If you got permission, say something. And in Verde's case, if he got permission to use that design but didn't create it himself, he still lied. If he stole it outright and tried to call it his own, that's just wrong. I guess I'm just confused at such weird shit coming out from otherwise good artists.

Random, but remember that awful merch shirt that Melanie's boyfriend said he designed? Well it's actually copied from a guy named Mitch O'connell. Pretty sure Verde traced it as shittily as possible in Crayola marker and called it "artsy", lmao

He and Mel were already off-brand with the NFTs, scammy Depop sales, etc., but I hope we're not adding (shitty)art theft to the list. I unfollowed some other artists recently for this same thing too(Ashnikko's team stole cover art and took forever to give credit to the OG artist), so it seems to be a trend this year, lol! It's funny when it's coming from the same people that freak out when their own shit gets leaked and stolen though.

I love her visuals, but she's really sacrificing quality for quantity. Some of the last few could've been left on the chopping block, IMO.

For instance, I could've done without the videos for Death and Void, knowing what they ended up like, and a lot of K-12. On the other hand, I can't imagine not having MVs for Cry Baby, outside of maybe a few that could've used a bigger budget. Even the scrapped hotel bathtub video for Soap is better than what we've gotten from Portals so far.

I'll have mixed feelings if Void wins best VFX at the VMAs tonight. On one hand, she deserves an award and I'll be happy for her if she gets it. On the other hand, I wish her first major award wasn't for one of her worst music videos, while MVs like Mrs. Potato Head, Mad Hatter, etc. got paid dust.

If she does win though, I wonder if she'll do an acceptance speech in the alien suit with the chipmunk voice, lol..

I'm pretty sure she's talking from her spirits POV after the Creature dies, in the space between death and rebirth. Her spirit is experiencing visions of her next life as Melanie Martinez(who has a younger brother IRL), and is talking about having conversations with his spirit and spending time together before they're eventually born. It's sweet, and also possibly an opening to start writing more personal music in the future.

The AI shit is scary when so many people just believe whatever they hear on social media as long as it's not super obviously fake. Celebrities are about to start having to sue random online accounts for using their voices to say seriously messed up shit, confessing to crimes they didn't commit, etc. It's fucking weird

Good for her, but also, why a Portals documentary when there's so much better material from her career to talk about? On top of the movie that no one really wants, it's just too much.

Planning her albums up to 40+ years old is a lot, too. She's better off just keeping her sights on the present otherwise we'll get a repeat of K-12 where she plans an album, starts making it, and then gets tired of it as soon as it's released, lol.
