...so while I'm re-organizing my library and doing the fanmade unreleased album and alt cover thing, I just realized that like.....a shitload of photoshoots and covers and stuff....either she's shot straight on, or she's always looking over her left shoulder, or we're always just positioned so that it's the left side of her face angled towards the camera???

See desktop for me showed NOTHING. Then suddenly it showed several seats open, and they were flipping between available and taken, back and forth rapidly, but whenever I'd try to claim, it just threw errors.

Switched to mobile, waited back in queue for a few minutes, then I refreshed once, saw two seats in the front, said "thank you ma'am" and it was smooth from there out.

Were you on your phone or desktop site? I had issues with the desktop site and it was a mess. I switched to phone app for Ticketmaster and it was smooth sailing.

The prices really are absurd though. I paid about that price for mine, and I'm gonna be eating skinny for awhile to make it back up. I'm fortunate enough to make it work, but it really is a fucking sham that it's that expensive. Not everyone has the money/resources/jobs to be able to fund shit like this.  

It's also the way Ticketmaster is garbage on their website. Couldn't get anything and kept getting errors on desktop. Ended up grabbing my phone and using the mobile app and got everything right on the first try.

Got the best seats I could muster (front row in 112). Now to find a +1 to drag with me (I know the boyfriend is too fucking old to vibe with Charlotte Exseaex)

Oh and I guess sell a kidney to recoup the cost of those tickets fuck.

Those prices are disgusting but I got Tickets.

I'll be going to Chicago. 

5k ahead of me in queue for Chicago because I was stuck dealing with fucking work.

If there's no good seats left I'm just skipping and praying everyone who got them gets diarrhea on concert day.

CRASH (still) slaps like crazy, but good ones is one of, if not the least enjoyable song on the album. Not in the sense that it’s a bad song, I’m just painfully indifferent towards it. It barely sounds like a Charli song except for the fact that she sings it. It sounds like Charli doing a Marina impression. I am aware that it was a song that was pitched to her, which I have no problem with, & there’s intention behind her picking it as the lead single for the era… but the song itself is not exciting/convincing to me. 

New shapes is a FAR more interesting pop song but really gets the shaft from the online fandom I feel and the SNL performance w/Caroline & Chris getting cancelled because covid was the biggest letdown for me of that era.

I don't think the folks in that thread don't really get who or what they're worshipping sometimes. I've noticed in general there's two camps of Angels. There's people who like Charli XCX, and then there's people who like Trapli XCX, and I've found that Reddit tends to culturally homogenize around the latter. Like anything that isn't Pop2/HIFN or anything that isn't remotely in the camp of hyperpop is just thrown right into the dumpster.

Like....y'all ever sit and wonder how ever did MJ and Madonna conquer the globe of pop stardom in the 80s and 90s? They weren't shelling out constant media and updates daily, and we still got there.

Edit: I think we as a society and culture have attributed "noise" = "doing the work". I think people sometimes go "oh look, person is posting this, promoting that, serving looks, putting out material. They must be doing good and successful!!!" - I think people sometimes see near-constant activity as something of merit and prescribe value to artists and bodies of work based on that factor, but also like....we're over here lobbying for 6 hours a day/4 day work weeks, no emails after 5PM, and a month of PTO time off as standard labor practice. Celebs and artists should get the same considerations, ya feel?

We will be okay with periods of silence. Our boredom is a sign that we, ourselves, are boring. It is time we touch grass and be patient.

I do understand the frustration on this though. I really do. However, something I've picked up in life, is that if I want to live it spoiler-free, usually a good 24-48 hours before someone is supposed to release content - I gotta avoid the internet. If I want to experience an album truly unspoiled, I don't visit the pages, because over the last several years, it's become increasingly normal for things to leak a few days prior. I don't go near the Drag Race Reddits or Twitter or IG pages, because elimination orders and screenshots leak all the time. Big huge TV shows/series - I gotta skip the forums and discussion posts because insiders leak everything early. For video games I'm excited about, I stop paying attention to all of the media around it, because people with pre-downloaded content or someone who got an early copy at Gamestop are already up on Twitch and streaming it.

You kinda gotta "go dark", and really stick to only private convos or DMs in trusted Discords if you really wanna dodge everything, I hate to say it. In the intersection between todays media economy and the way people define themselves by their interests and the fact that as a culture, people are getting more and more impatient overall - the strong desire to be "the first" and get ahead of others fuels participation in leak culture and makes it hard to avoid.

Also - with regards to Taylor specifically - there's a large portion of people who know how emotionally invested her fans are with respect to her music; they will be actively looking for ways to troll and sabotage on larger places like Twitter.

You kinda gotta roll with the way things go now and protect your own, ya know?

I'm about finding personal solutions to external problems and outcomes that we cannot control. If the cover is ugly to someone, then just find a DIY way to handle it. Go to a print shop and run off something and then glue it over the jacket. We're not helpless little beings here, adrift in the wind and at the whims of whatever life throws us. I've been telling people if they truly hate it so much, just wreck your vinyl jacket and bend it backwards and stick it in a sleeve. 

Then the inside picture becomes the cover and you get to decide which is worse: staring at the green square with sans serif font, or having a bent/rurnt jacket but getting Charli's face on the outside.

Easy low hanging fruit bonus points: print a custom jacket, print off your own cover and slip into the CD jewel case, or just give up on life altogether for a nihilistic feel.
