Works for me, but I have to go through a VPN to hit it. Can't upload anything though, but I can search things.

Idk if we’ll be getting the instrumental track on streaming.

but I can see the VD remix getting released with the rumored “Von Dutch extended version” like most of the pop artists have been doing lately

I mean, I did want the return of extended and club mixes, and we are getting them, except it feels hallow when the "normal/radio edit" is 2 minutes and the "extended" is 3-4.

My party ass is over here looking for 3:53 radio edits and 6:15 extended edits with dance breaks, a double long bridge, a super long intro AND outro to take you on a

     little roller coaster....

  6. ...there's still album cover discourse going on?

Maybe it's because I woke up spicy today but jfc the topic is more stale than that one box of cereal in the back of my grandmother's cabinet.

    Spoiler

kids are getting bombed in certain parts of the world, meanwhile forums and stan twitter and wannabe Jony Ive's are having a war over green square with sans-serif text like it's not that fucking serious just printout a picture of Charli and glue-stick it onto the cover that we all know you're not even going to take out of the protective sleeve if you're that gd mad about it like this is truly first world hysterics :diva:

Also supes disappointed that Spring Breakers isn't the "?????" track, apparently?

Guess she is going to become the new Taxi/Bounce.

ok eternal sunshine (song) was a bit too generic for me, but i'm glad that the tracks haven't been dance genre like 'yes, and' so far

I would have liked *1* more track in addition to Y,A that was uptempo dancey. Just one though, because without any others, it REALLLY makes Y,A stand out so, so hard.

I came online as a secret Arianator (I have to hide it all from my friends and family; they will abandon me and I will be disinherited from millions) really only in the last couple of years, so it's exciting to like, actually be paying attention to the rollout and the drama and the gossip in real time. :diva:

basically all what Coloringbooks said but to answer the last question if the song is an mp3 then unfortunately encoding data is the best way to figure out a timeframe for a song, m4a and wav (others too) keep their export data but rarely mp3s once they’ve been sent from place to place.

and then, if we’re being pedantic, export data still isn’t 100%. songs can be created but not actually exported until a later date if Charli reconsiders the song. all we can ever really have is a rough estimate.

metadata2go is a really good site if you want to try running some mp3s through, but try and find the original files and not ones you’ve edited.

You're right, because that alone is far from a guarantee and should not be used to "prove" the songs were created in 2018. It only confirms that the files were exported during or after that year.

I know many music producers that still use older versions of Logic Pro, iTunes, etc. I'm not a music producer so IDK if this is a good example but I always slack on updating my own apps and devices lel

I was gonna say - I've heard of producers and folks in certain areas of A/V using older versions of software because of plugin compatibility, or they are "stuck" on a particular version of software due to it being a really reliable and "stable" version, and if they'd upgrade there's risk of bugs or known compatibility issues with their hardware or other tools/plugins. Sometimes the stuff they are using is air-gapped and not connected to anything online for security reasons, so things are outdated, or some folks just don't want to shell out the money for new software or new licenses, or they used a friend's home studio that wasn't entirely up to date, etc. etc. Plenty of reasons.

The version definitely sets a line in the sand that says "this totally wasn't exported/created BEFORE this minimum date". I think the version of the software taken with an export date is really the key.

That being said, I also wouldn't put it past people to fuck around. People upload shit all over the internet and re-encode it to lower quality, tag the fucking hell out of it, etc. etc. I wouldn't put it past people to edit metadata to fuck around with people either.

Idk. Someone with more knowledge and insight feel free to correct me.

because everything she's done the decade that she says is happening has not. like, why is she even doing a tour? she's released NOTHING in 10 years. what is she promoting? what is she even doing? she'll probably put in like one or two new songs that are demos from like 7 years ago and that'll be it. she's serving nothing and taking money from y'all.

    Lauryn Hill realness.

Dropped an album and then followed up with everything but more music.

charli sessions, they are encoded with a logic build from 2018

Just curious - is that *always* a guarantee though? Couldn't some people and producers be using old versions (I know I myself am using a 5 year old copy of Ableton)? Is there an export date hidden in the metadata that might be more reliable?

I think you should temper this expectation now or this album will disappoint you. She keeps telling us this is a club album. Club music is by nature minimal and repetitive. There might be 2-3 "bridges" on the entire album. Most songs will probably only have 1 verse... This is not a pop album, which means she is not even attempting to make fleshed out pop songs. The sooner everyone gets on board with the new song structures (or the lack thereof) the sooner you'll start appreciating the songs for what they are.

Correct. And if we really wanna dig and get referential, there's plenty of songs I can scrape up from the 90s and 2000's where it's really just 1 lyric, 1 chorus, maybe a little ad-lib vocal moment during a dance break, repeat 2x, end. Quite a few of those songs in the 2-minute range as well.

1 hour ago, Lipgloss Twink said:

I just ran the numbers and I fucking hate how short the songs are going to be... If there were to be 1 4 minute song, the others would need to be 2 minutes and 40 seconds long on average, and I don't expect her to put a single 4 minute song on a record full of short 2.5 minute songs, but the math gets worse when you account for multiple songs of 3.5 minutes or longer. 3 minutes 20 might be the longest song on there and that hurts... :deadbanana:

Yeah. I *would* like there to be some fully fleshed out "Charli" material on the album, but if she's sticking to her inspiration, it's gonna be short and repetitive, which I'm fine with. It's just a mindset thing, which really shouldn't be anything new for us.

We have emotional Charli, and we have throwaway pop-trash Charli. We're just used to having both on the same record, and this time it may not be the case.
