    tbf I’d argue that award shows have always been a bit of a spectacle. I do think the impact of meaning of winning an Oscar or a Grammy though is not the same as it was. Not sure if it was always like this and I’m just old enough to realize, or if the standards of these award shows have changed. I used to think a Grammy was a serious award but it really is not considering some of its past winners and snubs..

     

    i mean personally i’m thinking way further back than the 90s. Try the 50s lol. these were definitely meaningful and classy events once upon a time

    honestly almost more depressing than the snubs is what a showcase these events are for how much basic decorum we lack as a society these days... it's hard to believe these shows were once high class... people would dress in their best to go & behave accordingly. when someone won, they usually kept it brief but sincere. no phoney or overzealous behaviors- just to the point, professional & natural. Lol between sza running to the stage like a drunk mess with her phone out, miley telling everyone she has no underwear on & the entire first minute of taylor's AOTY acceptance.... just bye. Bring back the finishing schools

    beyond midnights n the others just simply not holding a candle to tunnel, part of why the lana snubs are so devastating is because her music does celebrate the more vulnerable, flawed-yet-fearless side of womanhood that is desperate to be heard but is so often shunned & dismissed in our current zeitgeist. yes i know it's giving #qftc but like her main point there was just valid, sorry not sorry, n her losing only further cements it. to connect with lana’s songs & the stories within them is a gift & is often the only silver lining to otherwise painful memories. her music reminds us that it’s okay to find beauty in the non-ideal, something mainstream feminist “art” seems to be moving further n futher away from

     

    'Sweet' esp encapsulated this sort of dissident femininity, like literally WHO ELSE RN is writing a song that essentially starts off with "you broke my heart" & ends in "if you ever want me again, you can come find me, I'll even give you the map & welcome you back with open arms like nothing ever happened"

    I think I am more low vibrational than the rest of you cause i did not find that whole thing cute at all , dragging lana up there lowkey against her will... everyone running around like headless chickens for a good 10-20 seconds, idk what to think . sure I guess if no one else is gonna pay our queen her dues at least Taylor did like thx <3 !?  ... but yea idk its giving riding the coattails vibes which is so not the type of shit  lana would ever succumb to IDC she looked uncomfy :xgiggle:
