    This album arrived at a period of time where I was having a spiritual crisis and coming to terms with the inevitability of death. At first I was intimidated and even scared of Lana, with the evocative title ‘Born To Die’ and her almost looking down at you on the cover (it really freaked out my 11/12 year old self lol). I would think to myself ‘No! We weren’t born to die! We were born to live and experience new things' blah blah blah

     

    However I ended up revisiting Lana's discography back in 2015/2016. With that I was able to fully embrace the 'darkness' per se and feel more comfortable and in tune with my own sadness. She is one (and will always be) of my favourite musical artists of all time
