Maybe I'm an idiot but I'm no closer to understanding what Candy Necklaces represent in the song. Obviously in the video, they're being depicted as real necklaces and I can get the imagery. But still don't understand in the context of the lyrics.

Just think about the song and the video as describing her turbulent relationship with being a Hollywood star.

the candy necklaces represent the glamour of stardom but also is seen as a “golden handcuff” here.

I think people’s default for Lana sometimes is to assume in her songs that she’s always singing about men but that’s only partially. A lot of the time she’s singing about her struggles with fame and critics.

The star Lana Del Rey is not killed at the end. She saves herself from the trap and become succesful as we see from the Hollywood Walk of Fame scene which implies that death scene is only from the movie. This is unlike the actors she's portraying in the music video, who fell into this trap and ended up with tragic deaths.

It’s the death of her persona, Lana Del Rey IS Lizzy and Lizzy IS Lana Del Rey

Wow, im stunned. At first i was confused where the music video was going, then it immediately clicked when she started talking about her vision for the video. Shes portraying all of these women who were let down by society that were expected to be 100% star power all the time. The bts footage puts you in the place of this star whos lived multiple lives and its just such an interesting concept. I think her at the end with the hollywood star represents her being an angel, she has no candy necklace on. Its a lot to digest still but im in love. ALSO OMG THE HAIR THE LOOKS????????? I WAS SCREAMING i hope we get more footage or pictures!

I think the end of her with no candy necklace on was her saying that she will always remain true to herself and that she has broken free from the burden of “candy necklaces” that the women that proceeded her unfortunately dealt with.

  4. If I remember correctly, Lucy unfollowed Lana during QFTC era 🥸. I honestly get the vibe that when Lana complains about female alt singers not liking her, Phoebe and that whole crowd is included

I’ve read every spoiler tag and I still have zero clue what I’m in for with this album

    Spoiler

Gorgeous & diverse piano/orchestral arrangements with very personal introspective lyrics for the first two-thirds of the album with a few chaotic moments sonically. While the final third deviates and is a tad more light hearted and more “fun” lyrically and sonically with less piano.

  6. I actually can’t wait for Candy Necklace if it’s as chaotic as @Kintsugi says…

    Spoiler

It will really tie together the first third of the album with the last thirds more upbeat songs. Cause right now the two-thirds of the record is mainly piano besides A&W, making the last few songs of the record very shocking and come across incohesive.

(without hearing CN) the tracklist could use some rearranging for a better flow

    Okay honestly
My verdict is that essentially this album to Lana is what Folklore is to Taylor. And it is reinforced by the fact that some songs sound exactly like those on Folklore and Evermore instrumentally (Margaret for instance). No wonder they had a collab this year lol. Well last year technically.

    …..delete this lol
