Fingertips official ranking so far, love all of the tracks and they're all at least an 8, so nothing personal.

    Peppers leaked!? (👀)

Another thing I love about The Grants being the first track is that it’s almost like a “homecoming”, as Lana herself has said in interviews that she started singing in church choir as a child in Lake Placid, giving more to the theme of family and her past in Lake Placid. The gospel choir starting out the song is like a portal into her past world

The Grants doesn't even directly cover her family's issues, she doesn't mention anyone in her family (in Fingertips, for example, she mentions names)... The song is very cute and anyone could relate.

    Spoiler

Actually The Grants does directly cover her family. She’s singing about her Uncle Dave who died while rock climbing the Rocky Mountains, she references him again in Fingertips. I think The Grants serve as a mission statement. Personally I think it would make a better album closer

my bet is it's another album coming really soon after ocean blvd. here's my guesses for album titles

    Stars Align

    Psycho Lifeguard

    Pearl

Watch Me On Ring A Bell

The Revenge of Lana Del Rey

    AKA re-release

    Unreleased collection (Lizzy's Favorite Tunes)

The Revenge of A Complex Woman In A Culture She Formed

Her label would never let her release two albums during the same Grammy cycle. She’s never done that, never will. It’s uncommon. If she were to do that it would have to be at the end of the year like BB was, but she wouldn’t announce it this early either 😂

So true, the way I’ve related to her more homely and domestic lyrics like “washing my hair, doing the laundry”. Growing up with Lana is so cool. I’m so glad she’s able to resonate with people across all ages, and this new record seems like it encapsulates lana and lizzy at their cores.

For real. Now that I’m old enough, I’m finally revisiting childhood and working through my own “karmic lineage” (lol) and breaking generational trauma, which makes this new album veryyy fitting for the times

I mean we are the people that basically make sure she can afford making music for herself. 💀

She can at least feed us every now and then? If she doesn’t wanna make a new BTD/UV/HM/LFL she can always release that unreleased anthology set she previously talked about. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'd take that and shut up for a while.

Like I get that from an artistic standpoint she doesn’t owe shit to us but come on…she must know at this point that her current music isn’t clicking with as many people as her discography up to NFR. From a business standpoint that is a bit problematic.

Girl she can retire and live off of them BTD checks for the rest of her life 😭, she is already a legend. She don’t need you!! Look at how many new fans and streams she gets without lifting a single finger. Bffr 😭😭

Her current music? Yeah maybe not but I have her unreleased catalogue and previous album along with a few good songs every now and then to enjoy.

I just miss the days where I hit play and ended up loving each and every song on her albums. Now it’s hitting play and desperately hoping for a song that isn’t elevator music.

I know she still has it in her to surprise me. A&W was fucking amazing. Peppers sounds promising and Grandfather was much better on the second listen. I just don’t like the overall vibe and direction she has been pursuing for the past four albums. She stripped her music from nearly everything that made me a fan in the first place. I know there are a lot of people in her fan base who feel the same way. I’m just not afraid to say it. That’s the difference.

Either way, I'm very happy that she's finally being acknowledged as the talented and visionary artist she is and I will root for her if this album gets nominated for a Grammy even if I don’t end up liking it cause she deserves it so much. This album seems like it would be right up the Grammy committee's alley. So she might have a chance this time around!

I feel like you got LDR all wrong. She doesn’t make music for you or for the Grammys lol. I doubt she goes into studio thinking “ooo this will surprise them”. She’s just following wherever her muse takes her. She’s probably the only artist who has ever been able to completely not be a slave to their fanbase whims and wishes while still retaining relevance.

you’re gonna like some things, and you’re gonna not like certain things. And that’s ok! But she’s not making the music for us.

    The Grants intro

Lana has never been afraid to give us some behind the scenes type sounds in her songs, from vapes, to talking to Jack, etc. Other artists do this too like The 1975 on their most recent record. But the more I listen to the intro the more I enjoy it. The backup singers angelic voices and getting the word wrong, thereby telling the listener what the lyric is (mine not mind). Just really clever.

The funny part is that you can still hear some of them mess up the lyric 😭

  9. Honestly I feel like this album is gonna really be for people who care to know who Lana the person is, and her past rather than the “sound”. She’s never been as blunt (yet still poetic), as she’s been with these singles. BB was kinda scratching the surface, but this album seems to be completely open.

I’d even go as far to say that in A&W she might have even admitted to having been r*ped. But I think that went over peoples head since it’s hard to know where the persona starts and where it ends. But after singing that r*ped line, she follows it up by singing  with a sneer “on top of this, so many other things you can’t believe”. Seemingly confirming that the r*ped line is actually true, among other things people couldn’t believe due to her reputation.

I don’t know just some thoughts, I think a lot of things get interpreted wrong due to the persona, but I honestly think the persona has faded away gradually since NFR.
