  1. just listened to album in hq it's not as bad as i thought it was. but for me it's her worst

faves: tunnel vision, evil, battle of the larynx, the contortionist

everything else I don't care about

P.S moon cycle isn't that bad only the lyrics are awful

  2. while k-12 is nothing next to crybaby i still like it just because of the fact that it came out when i was going into high school so it brings back memories and it's nostalgic to me

Back in the day Mel was my bitch! :judgingu3:

its funny how I’ve grown to be sceptical of her recent work when in the past I used to idolize everything she did and thought she was a genius :toofloppy:

crybaby still hits to this day like the production and lyrics were immaculate and every song was single material...it was kinda her btd

  4. i remember when k-12 came out i already knew all the lyrics to the songs since it leaked two weeks before release so i was only looking forward to the movie...im surprised this one hasn't leaked early since the original album did before we even knew about portals

well, maybe not fully acoustic but Deaths verses are quite stripped back and The Contortionist is quite slow also (maybe mid-tempo, idk I love it anyways)

maybe this is what they were referring to

yup and also i was mainly talking about the verses of the songs

I'm just confused by @dyktatuob saying half of the whole album has that sound and "there were times where I thought I was still on the same song"— it's only really Leeches and Light Shower with the acoustic/slow sounding vibe…

actually no. that's not the truth, ellen

they are… Light Shower, Leeches and Womb…

from those Leeches is probably the most interesting one :true:

Womb is cute too but maybe not as great as a closer should be? Idk

i agree. womb is okay but it's a horrible song to end the album with

The HQ hasn't even come out yet, let's all chill.

K-12 may have been CoHeSiVe and all, but I hardly liked a single song on the whole album after not even 2 weeks of it being out, and the extreme kidcore stuff was not it for me. It felt like a parody of Cry Baby. Even the movie was visually stunning, but so underbaked. I don't expect PORTALS to be perfect by any means, but I can already see that it's going to be objectively more enjoyable for most listeners than K-12.

melanie played it safe with k-12 and made a decent album imo but with this album we were promised a genre shift but the album ended up sounding lifeless and boring. like half the songs are acoustic and the songs that are upbeat are either a hit or a miss

I mean, DEATH has some iffy pieces, I'll give it that. But you really can't say these singles have been objectively bad, or worse than any of her more criticized music(K-12 mainly).

VOID is especially good for what she's been doing for the past 5+ years, and I'm happy to see her branching out and taking steps towards a more personal sound. Criticism is fine, but we have to remember this is for her, not us.

k-12 as a whole is better than portals tho :xgiggle:

  10. it's so funny how this forum were trashing k-12 just for portals to end up being way worse :oic2::oic2: k-12 was safe but at least the songs were somehow enjoyable (even the bad ones) but with this one it was a chore to get into most the songs
