  1. 5 from each! well I don't consider BTD and paradise two different units. they sound the same, the lyrics are similar, the aesthetics are identical, they were released as a tie -in so... BORN TO DIE - PARADISE Born To Die Video Games Million Dollar Man Yayo (although lizzy grant version was better...still live the song) Gods And Monsters ULTRAVIOLENCE West Coast Cruel World Pretty When You Cry Old Money Brooklyn Baby
  2. Guys chill. Making comparisons is totally normal. I think it's healthy for newcoming artists to examine the trends of their era and letting some of them influence their vision. No one's vision is a brick wall. It's extremely rare for artists to create a trend of their own. It sort of happened with Lana mainly because popstars of the time (Gaga, Katy) had reached eccentricity and provocation to the extent where there was no way back. Lana and other alternative pop artists brought simplicity and vulnerability back to the market. It was fresh and appealing back then. Now... I'm angry at people that think Halsey, for instance, owes her life to Lana. No she doesn't. She's got a talent of her own. On the other hand, I'm angry at those who act like they don't see the slighest similarity, It's like they're closing their eyes to the whole picture. Give credits to the one that should be given and then enjoy the music. That's all. Welcome Melanie and Halsey to the Family. They're the 3rd generation if I'm not mistaken. Lana and Marina being the first. Sky and Charli being the second.
  3. I feel like I'm moving back in 2012... I am getting a Born-To-Die-like Badlands and an Electra-Heart-like Cry Baby all at once in the same month
  4. so....next possible day for the single release? i know it's not gonna be this one either but i want to soothe my pain somehow SO GIMME FAKE HOPES PEOPLE
  5. I am mostly into sad/sappy music to be honest but idk I want her to go different on HM...I'm here for the Florida Kilos/Diet Mountain Dew type of feel even though they're like...my least favorites... I'm weird
  6. goooosh stop. 8 1/2? La Strada? La Dolce Vita? Life couldn't get much sweeter?? Sorry I got carried away
  7. 50s vibe, jazzy with a soft grunge influence, noirish, more colorful, inspired by Mark Ryden, Picasso, Fellini, more similar to Born To Die, future-retro etc etc
  8. HOW THE FUCK CAN U TELL THE SONG IS FILLER MATERIAL JUST BY LISTENING TO A LIVE ACAPELA SNIPPET??? I mean honestly...a live acapela snippet!? Think of your favorite song as a live acapela snippet! Can you even judge? Gosh... The way she described this record makes it feel as if she has put special effort to it and I don't know...this time I have the feeling it's going to be different. We'll see though!
  9. As if everything else in this messy thread is on topic I wasn't comparing. I like both obviously. Flo is just really multitalented
  10. Typical Florence fucking Welch offering lessons on songwriting, lyrics, performance and aesthetics once more...that woman's talent aahh
  11. Yeah I thought more people would make that connection... For me, Froot was the first thing that came to mind when I read "futureretro"! Maybe cause it's recent
  12. that sounds like froot to be honest... it would be interesting though
  13. yeah David lynch pleaseeee...he should definitely be involved in some way he said he likes Lana make it happen...
  14. what I want her to keep from the born to die era is the way she unfolded her story...I mean obviously there are flaws in the album but there was something to it that made it feel like a world of its own, a journey...the whole mood felt more defined, the videos were more ambitious (ride?) and nothing on UV can top born to die/video games/ blue jeans as songs... UV was more like a non-conceptual mix tape of songs with interesting production. I don't want the same in Honeymoon. But I want similar virtues to it...
  15. ultraviolence had its weaknesses but it was flawlessly produced honey that's for sure...I mean the whole blues, jazz, surf, psychedelic crossover was genius... Plus polished production is not necessarily a good thing...
  16. can I finally get some stripped down guitar druggy songs like Yayo and Disco this time or am I asking for too much?
  17. I need some change...that's for sure. I love born to die's aesthetics and the production in ultraviolence but I want something more inspired in honeymoon (lyrically and visually). I want her to keep the whole vintage feel of course but in a colorful, sort of surreal way...I believe a frida kahlo/salvador dali style would work for her...
  18. i think she can release a single even today. but she won't. she won't until at least june... i have this crazy stupid theory that one of the many reasons she won't release new music in April/May is because she is waiting for Froot to fade out. i mean she shares a common fanbase with marina and maybe she doesn't want to have their albums paired together all the time like in 2012...fair enough maybe i'm veeery wrong though
