  1. Btw, this thread reminded me that I don't think Lana has any relationship with her parents anymore. We haven't seen Lana interact with Rob since 2015 and even unfollowed him. He continues posting about Lana being in the cover of magazines or releasing singles, videos or albums; but never recent pictures with Lana. And neither does Lana.

I've got to the conclusion that Lana said she's in a better place now and that change is reflected in LFL because she needed to cut relationships with some people in her personal life and maybe she's talking about her parents, I don't know. Or maybe it's not of my fucking business and I have plenty of time to jump into these conclusions. Bye

Aw no, I don’t think so. I think she loves her parents and has a decent relationship with them, just likes to keep her relationships private. Rob is very supportive of her (I think Pat just takes a low profile when it comes to the public) and seems like a great dad.

  2. Wow I didn’t realize how old this thread is. Anyway. About the whole “why did she live in a trailer park her parents/mother must have mistreated her or something” Lana moved into a trailer park after she got a $10,000 advance from a record label. She wasn’t destitute, it was a choice she had the liberty to make. Just a young artist wanting to experience a different sort of life in my opinion, remember she grew up wealthy and she probably yearned to see “the other side”. She elaborates quite a lot and makes up stories so it’s not really helpful to take her at her word or make assumptions of her based on her lyrics.

About the whole “why was she an alcoholic at 14”...I agree with the poster who says Lana was probably just dabbling in alcohol and partying like many young teen girls and began neglecting her school work, so her parents sent her to the more strict, regulated boarding school environment.

I think she’s closer to her father than her mother (based not on lyrics but on his public presence concerning her, his Instagram and Twitter accounts, congratulating her, times in public he’s called her a “genius” and commended her work, etc). I don’t think there’s anything to be concerned with there, most children are closer to one parent.

  3. There's an interview where Lana says her dad thought the opening line of Cola was hilarious whereas her mom didn't approve. I get the feeling maybe her mom was more concerned with seeming proper, preserving decorum and whatnot. The line in Old Money "my father's love was always strong, my mother's glamour lives on and on" is interesting. I mean, she's comparing her father's love to her mother being glamorous, kind of a downgrade. The fact that she mentions her father a lot ("I pledge allegiance to my dad for teaching me everything he knows," "that's the way my father made his life an art," "I heard the streets were paved with gold, that's what my father said") whereas her mom is rarely mentioned in her music (the unflattering "My Momma" and that line in "Old Money") makes me think her father was simply more influential and important in her life. If the Cola quote is anything to go by, her mother seems to disapprove of weird, off-beat stuff like saying your pussy tastes like Cola, and Lana is a weird, off-beat person, so that may have been a point on contention in Lana's family life. Moreover, My Momma shows her disapproving of a boyfriend. Dear Elliott also refers to a boyfriend who was "not approved." Now, My Momma also suggests her mother had a thing for her boyfriend, which is where the song gets weird. And despite Lana claiming her songs are 100% autobiographical, we can't take them at face value.

Personally, I don't think her mother didn't love her or whatever. They didn't jibe in some senses; maybe Mom wanted Lana to fit into society more whereas Dad was cool with it. That's what I get from her music and the rare times she's mentioned her. We know so little about her that I don't think it's fair to draw any conclusions about their relationship.

I doubt “My Momma” is about Lana’s mother. I highly doubt Lana calls her mom “momma”. Lana has played around with southern American dialect and stereotypes in her music and I think that song is more of a reflection of that.

  4. What type of negativity? This thread is full of theories and speculations (which is truly the fun of it). We also discussed her hearing about the story and just being inspired by it. If you don't believe in it (which I don't even really believe in it) that's fine, but you sound like nobody's allowed to post shit on here any more without hacking into her personal data. This thread already dry enough, let people have fun with it.

Aw haha, I don’t mean to sound negative. I’m sorry. Was just sharing my thoughts.

  5. Babe it's not that I don't like you because I don't know you personally but this forum has rules and structures that only need a little bit of discovering before opening 2 topics in 2 days that could've been a status update and/or exist as parts of other threads already

Much love to you it's just that I'm a little too keen on rules :hooker:

You’re right, I’m new here. Although I like my second post, haven’t seen another asking the particular question I asked.

  6. Everything that you imagine, dream or think of, exists in a parallel universe. It doesn't matter if it's the craziest idea. It's always there and will always be.

So, based on that belief, I would say all versions of Lana are real.

    :pls:

  7. Well, here goes nothing  I've had this theory for years..

So I have gathered similiar lyrics but did consider the "drive by sunday night" reference and the timing is also a bit earlier (making it line up with the release of Sirens). The difference though is that this crime took place in South LA. (We all know she travelled through the USA as mentioned in several songs and videos, I believe this was during her gap year. Tropico proves the LA theory as well)

The double homocide took place on April 6th 2004 (Sunday to Monday night"drive by sunday night" - For K)

at 2AM ("I was shot at 2AM" - Jump -> as in that's when Lana died, too, because she lost him forever because of the crime)

over a drug dispute (I'm not gonna quote obvious themes in her music :toofunny:)

Lana was 18 at the time (gap year)

Two men shot a man and three women (witnesses) in the Nickerson Gardens housing project, two of the women survived and one of them was brave enough to testify (She died September the same year, and her funeral took place in St. Paul's Baptist Chruch ("Swinging in and out of Old Paul's" - Video Games)

Sidenote: This could be a stretch but there's a Willowbrook street and a Willowbrook Park right next to the housing project ("See the willow bowing" - Out With A Bang)

In July 2004 one of the men (K) involved in the shooting was convicted to murder charge (the articles don't say the amount of years but I guess 30 could be it) The jury split about the question of death penalty and the 'phase of the case should be retried'. (Not important but the other man involved had a different trial as he didn't confess)

A piece of information that is missing is when they decided to put him on death row because in 2009 a judge denied to reduce his death sentence that's all I could find.

K was 28/27 in 2004, so he does kinda fall into the older man type. I mean 10 years apart for an 18 year old is a lot imo.

Now, his name is the most mind-blowing piece of information: Kai Harris (as in fucking K, Kai, KAY..)

ITS JUST A THEORY THOUGH :hooker:

PS: He's a lightskin black man ("golden skin" - several songs) with long dark hair (again) and a slender, muscular figure.

No proof that Lana lived in L.A. during her gap year. In fact it’s understood that she moved in with her uncle and aunt in Long Island and worked as a waitress at that time. I wouldn’t believe this even if Lana came out tomorrow and said she lived in L.A. when she was 18 (I wouldn’t put it past her to try to add this mythology to her repertoire). Why wouldn’t I believe it? I need proof to believe things, not theories, not loose connections to her lyrics. This is kind of like musing who “Diet Mountain Dew” is about and looking up guys who drove white Pontiacs in the New York area and randomly tying the song to one of them. Of course we know DMD is about Arthur Lynn because of his repeated references to that drink on his social media(s), but you see what I mean. Not a reliable theory, and in fact it goes against Lana’s documented time with her aunt and uncle. My thoughts? K is a figure dreamt up from books, movies, etc, like much of Lana’s themes. We’d be better off looking for criminals in literature or film whose names start with K, tbh. But I’m of the mind that he’s just a fantasy she made up.

  8. I hate to use this as an example but it WAS one of the first times i realised that 'extreme' lyrics are usually just metaphores or exaggeration which just tell a story better.

When Halsey was talking about her hfk album she said that she turned the real life even of arguing with someone in a taxi to fist fight in a limousine.

So if Lana Del Rey is real, to me, she is exactly how Lana/lizzy feels inside. Of course Lana has never been totally about the money, but songs like National Anthem, Money Power Glory and FMWUTTT are probably just fleeting little jokes she's made for herself (we know that's the truth with MPG so. ) based on what she sometimes fantasised about, but we all know she could never REALLY be that person.

If Lana Del Rey were real, I think we would question her so much more, because she really would be the problematic, crazy, messed-up-relationship-driven person in her songs, rather than it being a momentary phase or feeling she had

    Yes.

  9. her daddy bouGHT HA CAREER !

Can’t tell if this is sarcasm or your honest thoughts, but I can say that I don’t think he bought her career. I don’t even think it’s possible to do that, even for someone richer than him. Anyway, none of that old gossip is really relevant to my question.

  10. I am of the mind that Lana Del Rey is a character created by Lizzy Grant. Old news, I know. Now I don't mean to offend anyone by saying she's not real. I'm not implying she's "fake". She's allowed to create. But something crossed my mind the other day.

I don't doubt that Lana sometimes sings about situations relevant to her real life. But I would say that's probably 15% of her catalogue. Most of the time I think she has an internal world filled with the books, movies, and music she loves and takes from when it's time to write.

So, my question. If you knew Lana Del Rey was purely an autobiographical singer, how would your opinion of her change? Would you be more interested in her as a person? Less? Would her music carry greater meaning for you? What would be your opinion of her?

    Curious to hear everyone's thoughts.

  11. there's speculation that K was a boyfriend who went to jail for murder, which is based upon a lot of her lyrics (in particular, sirens/drive by/for k part 1)

Oh okay. I know about K. Thought it was someone else. Like I said, I don't consider lyrics as proof of anything other than her gorgeous imagination. Thank you!

  12. true. so true.

Sorry, first time posting here, I screwed up my post and didn't write anything. Read it now if you're interested!

  13. I saw a thread where somebody mentioned:

"a thread about finding her boyfriend that supposedly murdered people and was sent for a death pentalty (the fact people have even found his NAME is scary.)"

Where can I find this thread? OR if nobody remembers that thread but is familiar with this story, what's the deal? Did Lana have a boyfriend who supposedly murdered people and was sentenced to death?
