I'm just really interested in the sparseness of the production on this record so far. Based on the instruments used in each song, I don't expect full-on a cappella, but this is such a divergence from the production on all of her past records. I kinda feel like this is what UV would have sounded like had she not met Dan A.

I agree SOOOO much. Dan was awesome w his woozy guitar and his black keys influence but this sounds more like lana's organic growth from paradise.

"the blackest day" seems to be the most electro-driven -- its all synths, sound effects, etc. i'm hoping for a "behind closed doors" feel but with the bleakness that the song's title suggests.

also... how do things normally leak re: lana? how do people get a hold of the actual mp3s? it's fucking amazing to me. please -- enlighten me 

i honestly can't tell whether i like franco or not. 

I think that her cover's (DLMBM) gonna be the weak link on the album. The Other Woman had no soul/expression to it and I bet this one's gonna be similar. Lana may love her 50s jazz crooners, but her voice isn't at all like Nina Simone's.

everytime i think i got lana figured out, she does something like this. i thought she was kinda a poseur with all this lit stuff -- she never seemed that knowledgable about her so-called "inspirations" -- but i mean this isnt even a popular poem by Eliot. its a little tidbit. i guess she's just not a fan of exhibiting all her bookshness/knowledge to the public ya know?
