WilshireBoulevard 5,420 Posted May 24, 2020 Interesting thinking about it with the context of her poem today. I thought it was a very idyllic "should we go to the lake or the sea?" when it first came out. And all the connotations of "lake" too. Should we go home to lake placid or to the sea. Hm. 5 Quote locals only
helloheaven 532 Posted August 15 https://ibb.co/D4z28Bz i like how this poem plays with language a lot. it could sound like she’s asking someone “should we go to the lake or the sea” upon first read, or she could be her asking the sea her only question directly, like “my only question is to the sea”. it’s a clever use of word play and has a lot of carefree imagery to play with, or more than i can identify in the other haikus.
