Yes especially with people going to sleep too. They are saying certain areas are already out of water apparently certain areas were also evacuated way too late by police so there is also soo much traffic I have had to evacuate for a storm & it’s so harrowing trying to find a way out. Cannot even imagine having to do it with flames on all sides :/ 1 Quote
fishtails Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I'm hoping everyone there can evacuate safely and the fires stop soon 6 Quote ♡ everything is still romantic, right? ♡
EstelsDream Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Do we know the cause of the fire? 0 Quote Taste's like 4th of julyy...
shadesofblue Posted January 8 Posted January 8 1 hour ago, EstelsDream said: Do we know the cause of the fire? Not an actual cause yet. there's been life threatening level wind warnings for a few days and pretty much no rain in LA in the past year so it might not have taken much. Embers can travel up to 5 miles away with high winds stay safe everyone <3 0 Quote ♡︎

ultrablvd Posted January 8 Posted January 8 i remember visiting yosemite/wider cali in early 2019 and seeing how lush it was then revisiting in 2023 and seeing how bad the 2019-22 fires devastated the area.. really sending love to everyone affected and hoping they listen to the fire experts advice and the injury toll is as minimal as possible 8 Quote resident sweeter 24/7/17 - 9/7/23 - 10/7/23

Quincy Posted January 8 Posted January 8 6 hours ago, blackenedrussianpoetry said: Genuinely asking, why are wildfires specifically, common, in California or LA? Recent decades have been very dry and the dying vegetation, trees, etc. become susceptible to ignition*. Geographically, when winds flow out of the northeast in this area, there’s a downslope effect off of the mountains. This brings dry air down toward the coast and downsloping also works to heat the surface, which acts to make the humidity drop even more (drying the air). 5 hours ago, EstelsDream said: Do we know the cause of the fire? I can’t speak to this specific fire. All it takes is one spark when conditions are ripe. *It could be a cigarette, a truck sparking a flame on a gravel road, a campfire that wasn’t fully put out, an errant lightning strike, or more nefarious reasons. When the wind is strong and the earth is dry, these fires can spread and get out of control very quickly. 1 hour ago, Divisive Princess said: This is so hard to watch. At this point how does it even stop? It looks so bad from what I can understand Large fires can’t easily be contained, so it usually comes down to atmospheric conditions easing, so the spread slows down and it can hopefully be put out. It looks like the dry conditions and downslope winds will continue through at least Thursday, but gradually fading into the weekend. Hoping that those in the area can stay safe and that destruction is limited ?? 4 Quote
