lanasgirl Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 MTV VMAs 2014 Lana Del Rey's music video for her song "West Coast" is nominated for a VMA in the category "Best Cinematography". Source. 0 Quote
Thunder Revenant Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I like the song and the video has grown on me but ... don't think she stands a chance with that one. They should have taken SoC ^^ 0 Quote Just do it. Just do it - don't wait!

JBabes Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Oooo wonderful. I'm sure there is a thread on here somewhere about her public discussions about this topic? I'm still pretty new and don't know how to search to my full capacity! thanks On 7/17/2014 at 10:16 PM, West Coast said: Ultraviolence & Pretty When You Cry Although I think the latter might be a homemade video Oooo wonderful. uzzunov Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I hate MTV VMA Always the same... and this year - "the queen Beyonce" - WTF? Queen? And many of disgusting people like: Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer 2 Quote There's something I had never told you I'm not really from this world...

Wilde_child Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 West Coast is beautiful, very cinematic and full of references. But Mtv and the shitty Pop World is not prepared for Lana yet. If other singers are "queens", Lana Del Rey is Aphrodite herself. Ave Lana. 0 Quote

Thunder Revenant Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Well, WC is ... atmospheric. But that's it. Not that Beyonce's videos would be very special or anything .... The Blue Jeans video by Woodkid was also "just" atmospheric, however it had much more interesting shoots and scenes, even if it was just Lana swimming in a pool with some crocodiles and a tatooed guy. West Coast has some nice shots and it fits the music, but .. yeah, could have definitly been better and more diverse But if i had to judge about "good musicvideos", I would rather chose things in the style of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Sacrilege" ... It's really like some sort of short movie with some interesting cutting-technique. Without taking the focus away from the song, or featuring thousands of "music-less" scenes or monologues .... So I wouldn't say "Music world is not prepared for Lana's WEST COAST" video, since even if you are a huge fan of it, you can't deny it's not very spectacular or original. Shades Of Cool would have told a story without being super-straightforward and it's very cinematic. Shame they didn't nominated this one .... 2 Quote Just do it. Just do it - don't wait!
