Ok no one take this the wrong way, but how are y’all getting your tiktok feeds filled with unhinged people/content? Like isn’t the algorithm based off what you feed it (aka what you like, watch a lot, interact with)? My tiktok feed is just cute animals, homoerotic/hot guys, funny videos, creative video edits, and life advice. The comments can be messy sometimes on some videos, but I’ve never gotten stuff like eating disorders, weird stan content, abusive content, etc. Even the Lana tiktoks I’ve gotten are very light-hearted and unproblematic.

this is just tumblr but 2022, probably a bit better because TikTok has actual age restriction/filters, I remember seeing Dark Paradise lyrics alongside self harm scars on tumblr at least TikTok has a not interested function

also the fact that it’s highly, highly addictive, i mean, all social media apps are, but it seems like tiktok is on another level, it’s especially bad for younger people in general

I don't think it's that sumple. the first time I downloaded tiktok I was on it for about 30 minutes and I saw like 8 different girls making jokes about masturbating in the shower. I'm gonna show up at tiktoks HQ and demand they explain how their algorithm works

That's so true actually like I'm not actively looking for these kind of content but it gets on my fyp because they always use the lana del ray# and Lizzy grant # so tik Tok puts it on my fyp thinking its lana related content when its a bunch of thinspo with a lana song

I feel like tik tok is a mixed bag, some of the Lana content out there is good. I haven't really seen anything too concerning besides the Lolita edits(But that's a whole other conversation.)

honestly i find the large majority of the lana fandom outside of lanaboards to be annoying & embarrassing

 

i’ll never forget the music video that @Alison by Slowdive found for thunder which used clips from the lolita movie… WHAT is the correlation? ? at least using the movie for music videos for put me in a movie/off to the races makes a little more sense (even though i don’t think it’s right to use that movie for those songs either because the movie tells the story in a very romanticized way compared to the book & some of lana’s “lolita songs” are a lot more dark & complex, people should probably stop using that movie for their fan-made music videos altogether)
