A thing that confuses me a lot is when people insist that Lana had a persona in the start of her career. I think that she never had a persona to begin with. She was always herself and she chose clothing , certain aesthetics and hairstyles to just perfect her vision. All of these aspects are part of being a visionary and an artist. Her ability to combine her craft with visuals so masterfully is what made her stand out among other artists of her generation. Admitting she had a persona is like doubting a part of her artistic vision imo.

 

CN'S mv made me think of that even more. She was always true to herself even when people believed the opposite, even when people called her superficial for just choosing a specific way to portray her art.

yeah i cant tell if she says ‘wed in’ or ‘born in’. knowing lana… shes not the type to live her entire life in the same place she was born so i wanna believe its ‘wed’ especially bc i wanna believe they wouldve been happily married with a children right now

I find it curious that Sean Larkin still likes all of Lana’s friends posts, specially the ones she is in. It gives me the impression that they have different perspectives about the breakup, as if she holds a grudge and he doesn’t. Just look at The billboard in Tulsa, all the songs about him, and the “got a cop who turned down the back beat…” snippet. Also, that would be very classic man behavior, to think that whatever bad thing he did was not that bad, to underestimate a woman’s feelings.

Genius says it is: "who turned on the backbeat"

In the context of the lyrics:

who turned on the backbeat
Puts the shower on while he calls me

it is "on" instead of "down" because trying to drown out the conversation.
