IMPORTANT: LanaBoards Site Update Complete! Read for more info!

Hello everyone! I am pleased to announce that LanaBoards' migration to a new upgrated server and its new site updates are now complete.

I want to first deeply apologise for the amount of time this took where the site had to be offline. This whole process took much longer than I had originally anticipated as we kept running into problems along the way, many of which were beyond my control. However, all was eventually completed successfully. I greatly appreciate your patience!

 

Before anything else, you all should have been prompted with a page to agree to our site rules upon signing in. If for some reason they did not appear or you simply clicked agree without actually reading them, please go back and read them here. With this update, I also included a rewrite of our rules. While none of our rules have necessarily changed, I did expand on our written version of them for clarity. I want everyone to be on the same page and have a complete understanding of what is and what is not allowed on LanaBoards. If you struggled with having LanaBoards offline for the past days, keep in mind that this could be a permanent possibility for you if you do not abide by our rules! I appreciate you all taking the time to read these!

Also, since we are about to hit some heavy traffic as we near closer to release time, our former moderator @Rust Dress has decided to rejoin our moderator team. We're very happy to have him return, so please give him a warm welcome back!

 

 

Now onto our updates! As you browse LanaBoards, you will notice some new features and overall tune-ups for a smoother and more enjoyable experience. However, I will highlight the 3 most noticable changes:

 

1. The like/follow/etc plague has finally been fixed. Through this update process, I was able to identify and fix the root of the issue and things should be running smoothly now. If you continue to face this issue though, please let me know. All is working on my end, but I will continue to look into this if for some reason anyone is still experiencing this.

 

2. I've included a summary/statistics panel on threads that will give members an overview of the thread. This panel will include the thread's top posters, most popular days, and most popular posts. On desktop, the panel will appear on the righthand side. On mobile, the panel will appear as a fold-out that can be expanded upon clicking on it under the first post of every page. I hope you all like this as I feel like this could be useful; however, if you don't like this it can be removed. Open to feedback!

 

3. LanaBoards will soon be getting a web app! This means you will be able to add LanaBoards as an application to your phone if you use iOS. The application will be able to be added through your browser and will function just as an application downloaded from the app store, including giving you push notifications. This is something I'm extra jazzed about, as it will things to the next level in terms of having our members always staying up to date on the latest and greatest. There are still a few kinks I am still working out before I launch this, but I will continue working on it this weekend and make a post when everything is finalised!

 

 

I hope you all enjoy this updated version of LanaBoards! Please let me know of any questions, comments, or concerns you may have following our updates. Keep in mind that the website is still indexing following these updates, so if certain things aren't loading, you should see a notice that they are still being indexed. Please allow this time to complete, and it may continue to take a few hours since our website is quite large. If you otherwise encounter any issues following the updates, please let me know, especially with certain themes. The themes did not transfer over smoothly, so I had to recode each one in, which took some additional time. They should look a bit nicer on mobile now though 

 

I'd also shamelessly like to take this time to once again state that if you have ever considered donating to LanaBoards, now is a great time. Server upgrades are never cheap, which we had to do in order to bring you all these updates and solve some problems, and going forward our monthly server bill has increased since we are now on an upgraded server. If you would like to do so, please reach out to @admin, and it would be very greatly appreciated!

 

I'm going to stick around for a bit to continue to ensure that everything is working properly, and then I'm off to sleep for a bit - and boy am I excited to sleep. I have not had a full night's sleep since before this entire process began on Monday evening, I've only been taking sporadic naps here and there while waiting for processes to complete that I knew would take time. So, I am very sleep-deprived, but I wanted to make sure I could bring the site back online for everyone ASAP. This entire process has been immensley time-consuming and stressful, but I'm happy that it's finally complete and I hope you enjoy! Xx

Me when the people from my hosting server company who were supposed to be helping me were taking 3-5 hours at a time to respond to me

 

Anyway, I once again am so sorry for all of the downtime, I hated having the site offline for so long and truly didn’t expect that to happen, but so many things kept happening that truly were beyond my control.
