Oliver Céleste

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, soo since many people here like to talk about famous and, well, not so famous artists besides Lana, I thought I'd introduce you to Oliver Céleste, a 22-year-old alt-pop singer from England who's pretty amazing.

In addition to his original music – that is written and produced by himself –, he uploads covers of (more or less) popular songs on his YouTube channel. In fact, I "discovered" him when I was checking YouTube for a potential video of Lana performing "The Blackest Day" (turns out she still has not performed it live till today), but instead I found this video of him covering it:

"The Blackest Day" – Lana Del Rey cover

(He also covered "Religion", "Ride", "High By The Beach", "Music To Watch Boys To", "Black Beauty", as well as songs by Beyoncé, Troye Sivan, Rihanna, Adele, Allie X and many more.)

Fascinated by his voice, I checked out his original music and became a fan immediately. His debut single "Bones" actually became one of my favorite songs of all time, I just love everything about it. His debut EP "Sunken Bodies" (2014) includes "Bones" and three other songs.

"Bones"

In 2015, he released his first album "XY". The single "Famous In LA" is quite a bop, "2 In The Morning" is one of those sad songs I love so much, and the video is stunning. Also, check out "Gasoline" on Spotify, unfortunately there's no music video for it. Or, even better, buy the whole album.  :kiss2:

"Famous In LA"

"2 in The Morning"

"Chasing Your Love"

Earlier this year, his EP "Lessons From California" came out. It has quite a different sound, but it's awesome nevertheless.

"Problems"

"Show Me"

In addition to that, he recently released another EP featuring acoustic versions of the songs from "Lessons From California".

HIS NEW ALBUM "ASYLUM" IS OUT NOW!

It is available digitally on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon etc. as well as physical copies on oliverceleste.com!

"Hotel"

"Chains"

Album Preview

So, let me know what you think. Do you like his music? If yes, make sure to subscribe to his YouTube channel and OliverCélesteVEVO.

Also, physical copies of "Sunken Bodies", "XY", "Lessons From California + Lessons From California Acoustic" and "Asylum" are available here.

:thankyou:

This is certainly weird... There's an artist I really love, who's not very known, called Asbjørn  who's debut album is called SUNKEN SHIPS and the main single from it is called Bad Bones...

Kinda like if Allie X and Troye Sivan had a child

I'm not a fan, but mostly because I don't like male voices, he has potential I guess  :P

Except he's actually two years older than Troye.  :giggle: No but you're right, when I first listened to him, he reminded me of Lana and Troye Sivan.

I just listened to him, they don't have much in common musically. But it really is a weird coincidence.

I like his overall sound but I don't really care for his lyrics

Yeah, obviously some songs have better lyrics than others.  :um3: But I still think it's pretty impressive that he writes, records and produces all his songs on his own.

By the way, he said on Twitter that he considers Hotel to be one of the weaker songs from the upcoming album. He sure knows how to get me hyped haha.

My favorite song from him would have to be "Bones"  :)

Mine too, TBH. :flutter:  2 In The Morning comes very close, though, and Gasoline, Problems, City Gold, Famous In LA and Hell are also among my favorites. I'm also really getting into his new song Hotel.
