  1. 90s shoegaze icons they don’t play… this is so random though. Having followed them on social media for a while, they don’t tend to do click bait teasing (plus they have no reason to mention Lana, they make such different music) which makes me think this is something legit?

But they also haven’t mentioned anything about releasing a deluxe for their recent album (their first album since like 1992, listen to their song Winona if you want some American slacker sunshine shoegaze it’s so dreamy) so idk what this is even about

They posted the snippet to their Spotify profile with the caption “…just days until…” so?????? Whatever it is we’re not waiting long to find out

Lana has always been an outsider in her industry (even while also majorly inside it, which is part of what makes her career so interesting). She will prob remain an outsider which ultimately will mean having an incredibly fruitful, exciting career where she gets to challenge all kinds of norms and write perfect melodies and document her life as she experiences idk.

honesty zone i am very stoned:blush3:but i am in my feelings about it!!!

Agree! As much as I wanted her to win just for the sake of it, I much prefer her NOT being internalised by the industry… they’ve committed so many sins against her, they cannot sanitise their reputation by awarding her AOTY once. She can continue to live on the outskirts, challenging the industry instead of doing her best to remain in its graces (like so many other artists do). They’ll never get her

If I had it my way, the next album would have the sound of Candy Necklace, Judah Smith Interlude, Jon Batiste Interlude, and the parts we’ve heard of Zodiac. I’d love a really dark, psychedelic feel throughout like those tracks have. I love the vibes and instrumentals. I’d love like a gospel choir moment too. On top of that, I’d love sexy electronic vibes like Devil’s Paradise which Mike Dean produced for The Idol. With lyrics like Fishtail and Peppers, and Stargirl Interlude. Oh and of course I’d kill to have more songs with the vibe of A&W, both parts of that song are incredible. And I’d want very long songs, like each song have an average length of like 6-7 minutes.

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

    So… ocean boulevard?

Lfl was a transitional record:bebe: then we got NFR/Chemtrails/bb which even though have their own distinct sounds, are very similar in a lot of ways (like btd, uv, honeymoon) and now Ocean Blvd seems to be a transitional record moving into a new sonic landscape/headspace… it’s not hard to understand:awkney:

It’s very easy to understand… when people are dissatisfied with an album they call it transitional in the hopes that Lana will offer something they actually enjoy for the next album. Both COCC and BB were called transitional albums too - is it so hard to accept that each album is a fully formed statement?

and “moving into a new sonic landscape” is not unique to any particular album… every album is transitional then in this sense because the nature of making new songs means that she’ll be exploring new sonic territory?? Ocean blvd isn’t any more transitional than any of her other albums, there’s nothing to suggest this is an in-between spot between two distinct epochs of her career. And even if it were, that’s only an analysis that could make sense in retrospect

  5. She’s become a washed out red scare trad fash mess without an interesting project to distract from it. Just wallowing in internet basements reeking of vocal fry and doritos

  6. There is such catharsis in having VB at the end of the record. Like slipping into an end credits layer of reality, a mindless haze after the hero’s arc of the rest of the album. It feels like an altered state, which the album plays with a lot - at the end of A&W and peppers with the sort of drugged up transitions, Candy necklaces as the bad trip, both interludes. And that notion of the altered state hits harder when you consider the last words spoken in the transition from Taco Truck to VB are Lana trying and failing to recount a dream… and then she just gives way to it. It’s either an ultimate escape or something more sinister (the same way the second half of A&W could be)
