I voted. But Lana isn't dominating anything, not even her own release.
-
After watching her Instagram story in which appeared with her manger Ed, I have to say that I got an uneasy feeling that something is off. He looked annoyed and I think that the lack of news is not something that follows a script. I thought that we didn't get the proper video a week after the release of LFL because they had to come out earlier with the song because of the leak. But now I think that's probable that there is no video for LFL.

Lana Attending Gucci's 'In Bloom' Fragrance Launch in NYC - May 2, 2017

This talk about her lips and cheeks . People just seeing things that simply aren't there. She had a slight correction on her nose and she inflated her upper lip that's all. To think that she gets injections every two weeks you have to be completely out of touch with these procedures. And something just doesn't add up: look at her hair, nails, make-up, she did almost nothing, her outfit was as unsexy as possible. So why would she do a painful procedure, repeatedly, when she clearly doesn't care how she looks. I will fuck up my face every month and I will choose the ugliest pair of shoes to my usual blue jeans white shirt outfit. Get a grip -
Lana Attending Gucci's 'In Bloom' Fragrance Launch in NYC - May 2, 2017

This would be the nicest explanation why she's ignoring this era -
They say that you should never judge people just from their appearance but my expectation from the Sean collab just dropped 75%. So i set myself for a good surprise The last two eras had title tracks without a proper video. I wonder if that's the case with LFL

Lana Attending Gucci's 'In Bloom' Fragrance Launch in NYC - May 2, 2017

I thought that she quit smoking The outfit is bland but somewhat charming, she changed my ass, she's just as messy as ever was. I'm glad that she's out partying but promotion wise this event is 0. -
I hope you're right

Where is the LFL video? Where is the tracklist? Wtf is Lana doing? I made this album for the fans...
-
When you're at 31 and you came out with your 5'th album you don't just "borrow" from your idols. She borrowed in Love lyrics form the Beach Boys but it was ok. LFL is just lazy
-
You're gold... Lana fans...
-
I said that I don't want to make a drama out of it but it let a bad taste in my mouth. I'm a little baffled at how some people are fine with plagiarism here
-
That's the point. Iggy Pop has a title track and album called LFL just as Lana. I don't want to make drama out of it but I think that it was a lazy decision that will backfire later. If the track would have been a lyrical masterpiece with a personal twist on the idea than maybe it would be forgivable. But we know the quality of the LFL lyrics. Maybe Iggy Pop is not that known on this forum but imagine if she would called her album Lemonade, Blonde or the Dark Side of the Moon. Anyway, where is the video for LFL?
-
I'm not angry at you. It's all fine by me
-
Yeah that's true but it's still lame
-
I know that these things were said before but still some people have meltdowns because she's not charting and they are annoying. I supported her more than you ever did so please don't lecture me how to be a fan. We cannot put LFL "aside", as you put it, because is the title track of the album and she copied that fckin title from Iggy Pop which is not a sign of maturity. I don't know her personally, I just expressed an opinion but maybe you do know her and she really "changed". I don't care about her commercial success (I never did) I just said that she has bigger problems this era than charting, like comming out with a cohesive album and perform her damn songs live and try to keep her fanbase alive.

I't is so tiring to hear arguments like she's not interested in her sales. BS! She cried when fans told her that WC is smashing. She bragged about her being on the radio. Her promo game is a mess because she's afraid to perform live outside her tours and her team, with Lana's "contribution" of course, fucked up her relationship with the press and now she's avoiding any real publicity. She will never happen in the US unfortunately because she still has a negative image in the GP after SNL which was reinforced by the negative publicity she garnered during the UV era: I wish I was dead, I don't want the RS interview, I don't want my music to be heard, I fucked my way to the top - in short she managed to create a second PR disaster after the autencity drama and SNL fiasco at the begining oft BTD era. She had a much better image in Europe but she's not interested to make it there and she played dust for years to major markets like the UK, Germany and France (she managed to anger her fans there with that grotesque cancelation of her Virgin Radio show). People in general are not obsessed with her like we are, they just moved on. She's not on the radio in the US because her team isn’t doing anything to put her songs on air but an another factor is that she and her music is not liked that much by the DJs in the US. In UK she was played on the radio and people tried to make her happen again this era but simply there is no more demand for her music as it was in the BTD or even in the UV era. And this is, unfortunately, her new reality: after being one of the biggest streaming artist in the world (at least on Spotify) she is showing tragic numbers for a while now. She has lost completley her commercial potential because she vanished from the mainstream media for more than 4 years, she downplayed her crossover appeal and her style icon status and she forced an alternative route but she simply doesn't have the lyrical consistency to achive that (Love is good - LFL is a dud). Her problems this era started with the announcement of LFL, which in my opinion, is an awful choice for a title because she copied one of the greatest albums of Iggy Pop's career who is arguably an icon in music. I wonder why she didn't tweaked the title Lust for Love? Critics will not forgive her for this, especially after the lyrical content of the LFL title track which is a vapid cliché fest. Secondly I'm baffled at the hodgepodge of ideas that she's flouting around this era and I'm still not convinced that she's genuinly in a happy place, everything seems forced this era like the grin on her cover. But I would not care about any of this if she would serve some good live performances again of her new songs that I could enjoy. With BTD and UV she managed to put out albums with 3-4 great tracks with great replay value which not happenned with HM and it's not happening yet with LFL
-
I'm still hoping that this release will turn around in the upcoming weeks. She said that this album is for her fans. She cannot disappoint her fans after the HM era because she'll find herself fighting not for the top charting positions but for keeping her dwindling fandom alive
-
20-22 tracks?! LOL! I don’t care for the release date because I have to think about the meltdowns of the emo fans over how she sold out to the mainstream and about the laments of the chart chasers on how boring are the acoustic songs and the rest of the collabs. Instead I’m waiting patiently for the LFL video and for her first professionally recorded live performance of any single from LFL
-
The trailer was cute and that"s it, she didn't preview any of the songs as she did in the HM era. Personally I don't care that much about her photoshoots and interviews tbh. I know that she can be gorgeous but lately I didn't see anything interesting form her regarding her style and frankly I'm here for the singer not for the model. Regarding the interviews, she got smart enough to not say anything controversial but unfortunately, as her interview with Courtney proves it, she doesn't say anything interesting anymore either. Her shows are not even live streamed, so, for me, as a fan who canmot atend her shows, they are mostly useless. We didn't get a televised performance for more than 4 years! I don't care about the charts but I exepect from her to put flesh and bones on her songs through live performances. She didn't sing the majority of her songs live from UV and HM. Do you think that is normal? I don't know any major artist who does that and still have a fanbase. I said that the HM era was a low point in her career promotion wise but it had a certain charm and the expectations were far lower because there were no collabs with Abel or pop tunes like LFL.
-
Frankly, I don’t know what she"s thinking. I had high hopes when Love was released, which I'm not very fond of, but Love is a good song by any objective measure. It received a good video and was one of the most critically acclaimed songs of hers besides VG (Pitchfork named Love BNT). It seems to me an easy song for Lana to sing and despite that she didn't performed it besides that obscure SXSW show. She practically abandoned her lead single, letting the song die and the positive message fade away. Than she came out with an album title appropriated from Iggy Pop's discography and after watching that grinning cover it is imposiible for me to not think that she was aware of Iggy's album and she just blatantly coppied the title. She borrowed lyrics for Love but there was forgivable because everyone interpreted the song as an arc in time between the past and the future. LFL on the other hand, the title track, has completley unrelated lyrics with the Love theme which is in line with the announced more socially aware album. LFL's lyrics seem like they were made in 20 minutes, full of vapid clichés and frankly there is much plagiarism in it. Sonnically, the final result is mediocre, repetitive, I didn't understand the fuss about Max Martin tbh, the only good moments are Abel's vocals and the fact that they mesh well together. Overall LFL is a missed oportunity to define the album's vibe and it seems like an anticlimactic affair because of the hype surrounding Abel's involvement. The video is not out yet and maybe a stellar video could change somewhat this lukewarm feeling that I have about LFL. I don't believe that I'm gonna say it but so far this release is worse than the HM era which was her lowest point regarding promotion and hype. I hope that in the coming weeks something will change because what happened after the release of the Love video is just boring and disappointing
-
I read somewhere, I don't know if it is true, that Lana owns the rights of her music and Interscope and the other labels are just distributing the music. If that's the case, the labels are not that much interested in the promotion because their cut is limited. On the other hand, Lana doesn't have the team. the resources and the will to do a proper promotional campaign.
-
Lana and her family are staunch democrats. Just look at the people she's following on twitter: a bunch of left leaning pundits and politicians. I think that the confusion arises from her retro style and love for Americana which some people mistakenly equated with a conservative political view
-
From no collabs to at least three. Hm...This new album for sure will be more diverse than HM but with these collabs and the multitude of themes that she presented so far it seems that the album will be more like a collage of ideas. The problem is that she has to put life in these songs, we need Lana performing. She as a ghost in the H sign will not cut it anymore for her. So far she completely ignored Love and LFL
-
When her voice was compared with another singer I always run to see if the other one has the same magic as Lana. I cannot wait for this to come out
-
Of course that it's over. I don't understand this discussion about Lana's charting. She was over commercially the day when she decided to not perform before the GP. She'll chart moderately a week or two and than disappear because no one is listening besides her remaining fans. LFL did a little bit better than Love because of Abel. I expect that she'll the put out the LFL video and another single with the track list and after that we'll get the album.
