  1. Is there any information that a video was shot for LFL? It seems logical but with Lana's management you never know. If there is a video than I think that it would be ok to come out today.
  2. We need live performances of the new songs. It would be hugely disappointing if at the upcoming shows she will not sing Love, LFL and maybe another single from the new album.
  3. I sense a lot of negativity around her in this era coming surprisingly from her fandom. People are impatient with her, she barely puts out a tune and people are demanding something different immediately. I think that her fandom matured a lot and she always had a considerable adult following (who put her in the guilty pleasure category). It’s obvious that she has a poor management around her because they didn’t take in account this natural change in an artist career. She gets older alongside her fandom, nostalgia can be a strong factor but people change and that can put a strain on any relationship. When you put an album out you must consider your potential audience at least from a commercial point of view. A more adult fandom is more demanding and they will not forgive missteps that plagued her past two releases (no performances, sloppy lyrics, embarrassing interviews). If she’ll choose to not perform her new music again a lot fans would be disappointed. The quality of the album will be essential because the guilty pleasure status was maintained with the quality tracks from UV, HM and BTD. So far, we have a decent track Love (which is rather boring) and LFL which outside the Entwistle story is just like an example of a song created with a Lana lyric generator. A lot of the more mature fans are not here to stan LFL type of songs and frankly I don’t see her regaining her appeal with the teenage GP. So, this release is shaping up to be the most important in her career, the BTD hype could only carry two disappointing eras
  4. This. She'll never have a hit if she will not perform before the GP. She's only followed by her fanbase and some music stans who are following the online music blogs and forums. This has nothing to do with the genre of the music, a lot of indie and alternative acts perform at late night shows to expand their fanbase and make their music known. She is not willing to perform outside her tour or festivals and we all know why but is sad anyway
  5. One thing crossed my mind regarding her success this era. I have to say that before this era started, I expected a promotion strategy similar with the HM era with little radio play and no tv performances. I thought that she'll continue her strategy of eschewing the GP and that she will come out with music that will continue the alternative trend of UV and HM aimed at her loyal audience. Love had a brighter sound but wasn't top40 pop, and than, unexpectedly, she put out LFL which is an unabashed pop tune. I expected that her collaboration with Abel will be more in the Stargirl interlude mold, so I was really surprised. In my book, LFL is more top40 pop than anything she put out so far including BTD. My point is that with that kind of music maximum publicity (television, radio, Spotify payola) is a must. These type songs are meant to energize the public for brief period and than fade away. It's one thing to sing WC or SoC type of songs only at festivals but LFL is meant to be on the radio and generate as much hype as it possible to sell the album. What I sense from the information we have is that LFL (the album) is a mix between typical Lana alternative sound and top40 pop (she said that she has more songs like LFL). So far I don't see anything happening in promoting LFL (there is still time) and I fear that a HM promotion strategy combined with a lighter, pop album could really backfire critically and commercially. As a fan I can contribute to her success by buying her music or promoting her to my friends but the rest it is Lana's and her team's business and I hope that they have a sound strategy this time around.
  6. I will ignore the critics entirely in this era. Everything, good or bad, was said before and there is nothing relevant that they can say anymore about her. Fantano hates her music or at least he needs to keep it that way for his audience. What you expect from a guy who thinks that the experimental noise of the Death Grips is great "music"?
  7. How is a song selected to feature on those lists? I don't use Spotify but I heard that you have to pay to be on those lists.
  8. Her personal life is definitely not my business but I'm not here for any drugs. I didn't liked it when she smoked and from what I know she gave up smoking. She is so involved lately with serious things like climate change, she seems more mature and I'm confident that she'll stay away from harm. I just want her to be happy. I woudn't bet my life on some UK tabloid info tho
  9. In all seriousness with songs like Love and LFL I cannot imagine that she"ll repeat the promo strategy from the HM era. I think that she"s ready to raise her public profile. Maybe we'll get some tv performances, in Europe at least. This era is so unpredictable, I didn"t expected a song like LFL tbh. The ideas are just flying around: brujeria, space surfing, preaching to the kids, getting naked on the H sign, eco-queen singing to the trees, literraly anything can happen. This era will be epic
  10. I really like LFL. Abel's voice meshes so well with Lana. I cannot imagine this song witnout Abel, he is capable of MJ type of wonders with his voice
  11. It's time for her to come out with the video for LFL. The single is losing steam and I hope to understand better the meaning of this song
  12. I saw that she dismissed the Entwistle story. In a way is a smart move because she is steering away from controversies. On the other hand, without the story the LFL lyrics make little sense, they feel like a collection of clichés. She said that she didn"t saw any ghosts in her apartment in the H sign but she depicted herself as a ghost in the trailer. I'm not convinced that she didn't know about the story. Her fixation with the H sig,n, climbing on it and living inside as a ghost, is just strange
  13. https://genius.com/a/how-lana-del-rey-s-lust-for-life-connects-to-an-infamous-hollywood-suicide I didn't payed attention to the story but after reading this I see the lyrics on LFL in a different light The way that she's a ghost in the trailer. That she's in color and everything else is in bw, including Abel. The retro dress and those strange gloves. "Climb up the H Of the Hollywood sign, yeah In these stolen moments The world is mine (do it, do it) There’s nobody here Just us together (shut up, shut up)" Chills... Then, we dance on the H Of the Hollywood sign, yeah ‘Til we run out of breath Gotta dance 'til we die Chills... 'Cause we're the masters of our own fate We're the captains of our own souls There's no way for us to come away Chills... They say only the good die young That just ain't right There are to many references to this story. That cannot be just coincidence. Someone call Pitchfork...
  14. I wanted to listen to LFL on Spotify and I had to go to her artist page to find it. I couldn't find LFL on any relevant lists. That Mendes bro is everywhere. I don"t think that she has any chance to score a hit tbh
  15. This is so true. I remember the times when I listened to music and I didn't have a clue about YT views, Spotify streams or Itunes positions and I didn't read any critic's piece. Poor Lana, she is divisive no matter what she does: if she's coming out with an easy pop tune then she's vapid (Pitchfork) if she has complex feelings on world matters than she's pretentious. This woman can't do anything right. I just hope that she doesn't care anymore about these things and she'll do whatever pleases her: like siting with Starboy on the Hollywood H sign
  16. The song has the potential to be a hit but she needs to promote it. Her sales at this point are irrelevant because 80% of the GP doesen't know that she has a tune out. The problem is with the overall vibe and quality of the album. The Pitchfork review of LFL was rather negative and I agree that the lyrics are just subpar for an album defining title track.
  17. I see two problems with the LFL type of pop songs: she needs to promote them (these songs will breathe as much as the hype exists) and she needs to find a way quickly to perform them live (without the Weeknd). I cannot envision her upcoming performances without LFL Regarding the lyrics: as inconsistent as they are I like LFL more than Love's preachy style. I'm more concerned about the consistency of the album tbh because Love and LFL are miles away from each other
  18. So, Lana will come out with a pop album. Listen to it, enjoy it on a hot summer night...
  19. Oh, the pretentiousness in some people here. I'm a Bach fan first but I can appreciate a song for what it is. This is a good pop song and the secret is to not overplay it (it's hard I know). Lana and the Weekend mesh well vocally, it's a passionate dialogue between the two. Everybody wanted faster songs, bops from her and now some of you are frowning upon this pop gem. This is the popiest song ever (officially) released by Lana and is showing her versatility. Some people are afraid that she might have some success with it....
  20. I'm not into pop but this is a gorgeous pop song. The Weeknd is the next MJ period. She is free...I'm happy for her
  21. I'm not a fan of the Weeknd but it's absurd to say that he'll ruin the song. Lana clearly wants to rekindle her crossover appeal after two niche releases and the Weeknd is there to help. She never disappointed me yet with her first single btw.
  22. It was a comfortable interview. Just in a couple of years Lana clearly mature a lot, she wouldn't risk any stupid controversies anymore like in the UV era and she would not let some journalist disrespect her again (remember the MAXIM interview?). I'm convinced that she's in total charge of her career now. The praises that they threw each other was unnecessary but there was some interesting bits of information like the Liz Taylor anecdote. I really liked her candid rebuke of her "cringey" interview form the prefame era and I think that she's ready to move on from all the negativity that surrounded her. I hope that she realizes that hiding it's not the answer to the haters but ignoring and confronting them and occasionally acknowledging your mistakes helps to
  23. She is talking about Love (the song): "I was just feeling like I wanted a song that made me feel a little more positive when I sang it. And there’s an album that’s gonna come out in the spring called Lust for Life." It sounds to me that Love has little in common with LFL, maybe it was just a buzz single with a video.

She matured a lot since I started following her. Very proud of her
  25. @terusama I have high hopes for LFL and therefore I’m not even thinking about music appealing to the teen gp. VG was a rare example of great lyrics and melody with a wide appeal (at least in the UK) that struck a cord with a large demographic. But the most successful teen music type is the generic top40 pop and I don’t want Lana doing that. From a commercial point of view, I think that it would be a risky strategy because she would need a massive promo and even if she would miraculously do that her success isn’t granted because she’s over 30 now and there are many newcomers more naturally appealing to the teens (Lorde, Halsey, Dua etc.). I estimate that, after the HM era, Lana can rely on 500k interested buyers worldwide for her next release who will check out her album without to much promo. These people are a diverse demographic and I wouldn’t be surprised if most of them are over 20 y.o. I think that most of them would be disappointed if she would come out with some generic pop. So, she’s in a tough place commercially but so is every female artist over 30 not called Beyonce.
