I listened for the first time properly to BAR. I think that it is about Barrie. It fits nicely minus the “he did it all for fame” part. Poor Barry, I cannot imagine a guy more disinterested about fame but I can envision his obsession with writing the best whatever record. The song has its moments, I like the lyrics overall, the bridge is great but drags to long and I don’t like her whispery style of singing. I don’t think that BAR was made for LFL, it sounds more like an outtake from previous eras. I don’t see the point for BAR to be on LFL, the song doesn’t fit with the announced direction of LFL and I hope that LFL it’s more energetic than this. I’m not here for HM 2.0

The nails will not come back...

Please stop bashing her loving family. She looks fab on the Dazed cover!

There is no need to argue anymore about her commercial choices. Lana bet her career on her fandom and that will not change in the future. It's obvious that she will drop information bit by bit about the album, on her social media, until the release. She will do some interviews with friendly outlets (she'll be very tactful) and photoshoots in magazines that have no impact whatsoever on her sales. After the release she will probably do again a festival tour with little media coverage as possible. So probably 80% of the people who bought BTD will not know that her album is out (same as the HM era). Lana has no interest in her commercial success and it seems to me that no one (label, managers) have any leverage on her. It's her way or the highway and I respect that

From the beginning, I was intrigued by Lana’s voice, awkward performances and her strange musical choices which had very little in common with top40 pop or the alternative trends. Her uncanniness attracted me as well as her anti-popstar status: Lana is a far cry from the confident, “in your face personality” of most popstars. I always felt that she’s the D. Lynch of pop, one of the Mulholland Drive girls, being supremely divisive in the business just as Lynch is. So, I’m a little nervous before this new album because I don’t know how a more earnest and political/social lyrical content will suit her style or where is she heading musically. She can move towards a Cat Power type of vulnerability but I’m not sure that her audience or the critics will accept it. I don’t expect either any Beyonce or Solange type of pop social/political statements. If we analyze Lynch’s work, at a superficial level it seems that there is little political or social commentary in his movies, but in masterpieces like Blue Velvet it’s clear that he’s depicting the dark side of the American dream, the hypocrisy of the American way of life. I would be enthralled if Lana would do something like that and if she could put it in some beautiful musical form preserving her uncanniness. Love it’s a good song but it lacks the punchiness and the menace that I would like to hear from her so I hope that the rest of the album it’s different

It's a beautiful and transfixing cover, her smile is everything

The silence is deafening. The only explanation I have is that the whole era got stretched by the premature release of Love. They had booked things in advance (photoshoots, interviews) and the only thing that was available for release was the album trailer. It can be that she’s still working on the album because usually she disappears completely when she’s in the studio. The presence in LA of the singers from her last tour can hint at some live tv performance or a surprise show. It’s a small chance that will happen but nonetheless is a little bit early to start to rehearse for her summer “tour”.

I'm not concerned with her mainstream success because it’s not my business. She had a shot at pop fame with BTD and she simply refuse it: she couldn’t handle the media scrutiny and she didn’t want to compromise her artistic vision with the taste and expectances of the general public. After all, it's her private decision what kind of a career she wants. I'm more concerned with her legacy and the way that she's ignored in the US. Caramanica said, in his review of BTD after her SNL performance, that “Her cultural stamp has already been affixed, her biography written in concrete”. Many music fans and people from the music business (fellow artists, journalists) changed their heart regarding Lana (even Caramanica) for the better but many remained stuck in that post SNL evaluation of Lana. Well, SNL and the controversies that surrounded her in 2012 didn’t ended her career, as many predicted, but explain why she retreated in her shell so heavily. Maybe she’s over it and she will promote more this time but I’m highly skeptic of that. So if she will do a low promo, low sales number era again we have to except it because that’s what she is comfortable with. The only thing that matters is the quality of the music, the rest is just a bonus. PS. I never listened to a song or watched a video because it had big streaming numbers. NA is one of her upbeat songs from BTD with an arguably great video and has only 50 mil views on YT.

I really wish Lana the best in the world because she’s such a good soul. I admire her for preserving her artistic integrity and always searching to better herself. If she’ll keep giving us more music I will take it happily. But I don’t care anymore about how she’s dressed or what interviews she’s giving. I will watch the photos and admire her beauty and I will listen to what she has to say but with everything that is happening around us the way that an album is released is just … not that important. The music will come anyway and I have a feeling that it will be uplifting

I’m really looking forward to this album. I think that those who are expecting, based on Love, a more pop friendly, radio singles collection type of album from her will be disappointed. Lana stopped chasing the charts starting with Paradise and she never looked back since then. I expect a big change in the lyrical department which was confirmed by her and her manager. A more socially aware album could bring her highest critical acclaim yet. Sonically, I think that they learned a lesson from HM and LFL will be a more diverse and energetic album (that is the point of those predicted collaborations after all). About the collaborations. Besides the Weeknd, I don’t expect any high profile artist to be featured on LFL. She always yearned the friendship of people who she thinks that are truly artists not just mere pop stars. I hope that her collaboration with Sean will happen. About the promo. I’m surprised to see so many Lana fans demanding high profile promo from her. It will not happen, get over it. The rollout, besides the leak, is pretty good so far: we got one of her best videos to date, a cute album trailer and the Snapchat filter was a clever move. I expect some interviews, photoshoots and the usual Lana stuff on social media but nothing fancy. It’s all just a nice dressing, the only thing that I really care about and what truly matters in the end is the music and I have a feeling that it will be good.

Hello everybody, I'm a fan since early 2013. I just wanted to say that Lana is an angel, Love is a beautiful song and she is so adorable in the album trailer.
