    That's not for copyright but for trademarks I think. Like McDonald's suing when ppl reee to smth as a mcwhatever when it's not theirs or smth

    Having slept on this, I think that of course no-one, even lana, isn't above not being sued - ever; but Lana was gracious enough to give  up to 40% which is above being generous and they still didn't respect her goodwill. But I do think, and hope, this is a case of Lawyers being Lawyers. I read somewhere that copyright laws in the US are structured in a way that if you don't defend your property at all times, no matter how inconsequential, then you lose the rights to defend it when the owner finds it fit to do so (or maybe you just weaken your case, I'm not knowledgeable about cr laws, ..). So maybe after all it's only RH's label who is behind it and not the band itself, and RH decided to just let them do and control the situation. 

     

    So I do hope we can tone down the RH vs Lana stan war, not because it reflects badly on us but because Lana doesn't need to receive hate from another fanbase, thankfully it seems minimal for now. 

     

    EDIT: I'm happy Lana still retains her resolutions/sentiments about the song :) It was a noble gesture to let the fans know, she knows we care

    this pop star for the selfie generation  :crossed:  :crossed:  I hate stuff like this, it sounds disrespectful and judgmental like they can't make an objective professional review without finding sneaky ways to look down at her, despite the high rating. This is why I got into Lana, people are weirdly ashamed of liking a record so they try to find other ways to tell people they are self aware.

    I don't understand what grounds are Radiohead calling for them to claim 100% of a song and refuse all settlement even though it means going to court. Because like other people said in this thread they don't have much going for them, they even got sued for the same song and lost. I understand that there's a similarity in the chord progression but I thought that Lana and her team being American (and from a major label) had it covered somehow. 

     

    I know RH comes off bad and greedy in this narrative but I'm really not looking forward having hateful old men and prissy hipsters comment on lana videos, and I don't think Lana has taken it lightly. Even if RH gets a small percentage of credit they will benefit from the increase in stream and interest which is bothersome theoretically but what is worse they have managed to attach bitterness to a song that was about looking for an alternative to darkness and dared to be hopeful.

    I’m also worried about Mexico. Our legislators are highly stupid and will copy things that the US has done for the sake of being “progressive” (at least they legalized same sex marriage :party:) We also have laws that don’t allow this to happen but it’s not that hard to change the laws. Mess :rip:

     

    We have problems over here because internet providers complain about not making enough money and spending too much on renovating our networks (optic fiber, 4g+/5g/lte) to the point the model becomes unsustainable, some are failing and some businesses manage by selling other products and it worries the central governments (and some gov even own dividends of said companies...) so it's not impossible to imagine them lobbying for this to happen tbh, especially if there's a big precedent in another western country

    How do I get external gifs to work in posts? I know how to use the little square ones on this site but how do I import a gift from Google images into a post, for example? It never works with the normal image tool

     

    What I do is: 

     

    1. Choose an Image or a Gif I want to post from Google 

    2. Right Click and choose "copy the address of the image" (i see it in french so i don't know how it's translated in english) 

    3. Go back to LB and click on the Image tool (looks like a polaroid underneath the Text Color tool) 

    4. Paste the link and you have the image/gif on a post

    For me it works with all gifs and images I can find on different websites. But if it's a gif/img I have on my laptop I either upload it on tumblr and do the same thing I do above or I upload it on imgur and select the BBCode.

    i see that some people continue to comment on this thread only to say nothing at all

    she should probably try to give her OWN proof or give the story from HER perspective like.....

    half of the fans that did "research" were wrong about things too. this is another stupid statement just like her first one.

     

    Exactly. The statement would make a bit more sense if Melanie had said that she never had any sexual relations with Tim and that she doesn't know what she's talking about,  but like said before that's not even the case. In the wake of people coming out and talking more freely about sexual assault in the media (and actually being listened for once); false accusations are a huge step back and a moral no-no, you'd think Melanie would be outraged about it, condemn people who do this because they do a great disservice to actual victims and would state her case telling what really happened. It's been almost a week and this is the best she could come up with as a defense? It's like she's not taking it seriously. I hate to repeat myself but she admitted she was there, her fans were not and don't even know her and she thinks their ramblings towards building an ""alibi"" are enough for her. And cherry on top Timothy needs a healer in her books. 

     

    Even if there's a chance Melanie is innocent in this case she just comes across as being so fucking dense. She's crossed the limit where stupidity and aloofness becomes annoying and dangerously inappropriate. I'm curious to know if she's consulted with a lawyer and/or a publicist.  And Timothy also comes off as emotionally immature and she seriously needs therapy. People use it and her mental illness to justify their reasoning on how she could be lying, while it can be possible it also makes someone more vulnerable to toxic abusive relationships forgetting that those grounds actually aren't enough to invalid someone's claims.
