  1. It's a mess tbh. It's like she's sabotaging her own success. Love is free falling as we speak.

Her team is a disaster. Nobody of lana's caliber should be tweeting about recruiting their fans to join some witch cult. It's crazy lol. Lana can do whatever she wants but to put it on full blast is just very risky and I hope it doesn't hurt her in the long run. This could turn off a LOT of people

    Eh.

I don't think anyone except hardcore Trumpkins care about her witch thing. I'm not even sure they care about it.

Love is free falling because it's Lana Del Rey, someone who has never particularly put much effort into promoting what she does. Her team is a disaster, but not because of the witch thing. Her team is a disaster because they just let her not do anything wrt promotion.

  2. I find that Sirens, Young Like Me, and From The End are probably the worst things Lana has ever done and I still can't actually listen to them all the way through.

I think that Love is good for what it is, but I was hoping for a more upbeat sound in the vein of Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight, or even Boarding School.

  3. yall hating on SoC just mad because your baby calls for me, and not for you :smokes3:

but seriously, who's mans is this. shades of cool is beyond belief beautiful

PWYC is brilliant but absolutely skippable. would've been better as an unreleased track

still don't get the hate for HM. the videos were admittedly lackluster but i think the tracks sound exactly like what lana was going for and it's a perfect rainy day/bathtime album. but guess you can't save everyone :bye2:

I like about a majority of the songs on Honeymoon individually, but listened to as a cohesive project...the entire album feels monotonous (except for High By The Beach, which just feels out of place)

  4. Radio is not as conservative as you say it is lmao...Pumped Up Kicks is about a guy shooting his classmates and it got massive airplay. You have a :) ton of songs by male and female artists alike with rather obvious double-entendres. S&M by Rihanna, several Nicki Minaj songs, Mike Posner's I Took a Pill in Ibiza.

...Cola is harmless. Replace :) with "my lips they" and you're fine. Brooklyn Baby could have replaced the hydroponic weed line with the line from the first chorus.

Pumped Up Kicks wasn't the best example, since they eventually did pull that song from rotation after some school shooting happened.

  5. Honey, no. My :) tastes like Pepsi Cola is a line that you will never hear on the radio. No airplay, no hits. And Idk why ppl keep mentioning FK. Have y'all not listened to the lyrics? Which station would play that?

Put a rapper on a Florida Kilos remix (say A$AP Rocky), and the song could have gotten radio play on big hip-hop radio stations which would have zero problem with the lyrical content.

    -------------------

High By The Beach, West Coast,  and Florida Kilos all could have been hits. She just didn't put in the effort for that.

  6. I have days where I really think "Flipside" may be the best song she's ever done. But then, I kinda snap out of it.

    But it happens very often.

Also, the only Lana song I've outright hated from her official releases was "Lolita", but since it's a bonus track, it fortunately doesn't devalue that impeccable album. That song is a serious headache - loud and obnoxious without any bop to it. Sounds like an imitation sausage version of "Toxic".

I don't think you're listening to the right song.

  7. What's with all this 24 hate? Yeah, the lyrics are pretty repetitive and boring, but the melodies are just so jazzy and 'Bond-esque', along with the sultry yet dramatic instrumentation. And Lana's voice is just amazing, how she slides so effortlessly from a D#3 all the way to an A#5. I really do not think it's a bad song, I don't think it's the best on Honeymoon, yet it's still amazing.

It's because it's Bond-esque that it's an awful song. The lyrics aren't repetitive or boring, they're outright cringeworthy. The instrumentation itself is great, the lyrics are terrible.

  8. OK, I'll bite. Unless you say what the (obvious) weak songs are, it's impossible to know the sense in which you think she is possibly declining. Not counting BN and DLMBM (which are extras), I would consider AD and GKIT as weaker than other songs on the album, but I can still listen to both with some enjoyment.

I think 24 and Honeymoon were the weakest original songs on HM, and DLMBM is probably a good example of why she should leave other peoples' songs alone. I think the quality of her writing is declining.

  9. Depends on what you mean when you say "declining". It's inarguable that in terms of albums sales, budgeting, relevance, etc., she's in decline. That's partially her own fault and partially beyond her control.

Artistically (outside of budget limitations)? I don't know. I think that there's a sharpness between her best and worst songs on Honeymoon. On Born to Die and Ultraviolence, there may have been questionable quality songs, but they weren't bad or anything. However, the songs on Honeymoon it was obvious - to me - which songs were terrible and which were good, even from the recordings of the event she had. That's all subjective, so still. I don't know if - objectively - her art is in decline.

  10. Lana remixes are really enjoyable? People ride them off because "Lana's music wasn't meant to be remixed!!!11!1!!!" but I love it. It's boring to hear only dance-pop songs be remixed. Lana's genre is very different, so it's very interesting to hear.

ngl, my only problem with Lana remixes is that it seems like - even with big name producers - it seems like they make little effort to make mixes that actually match the vocals. The most illustrative example being Cedric Gervais' remix of Young and Beautiful. It was like he slapped an EDM beat over the original and made no effort to really mix it.

this is my favorite, and the best imo, Lana remix:
