People getting mad about the rina situation again is wild 💀 (In the context of what was said in the interview)

I mean.....Charli's disagreement with Rina is not justified, and Rina has every right to be frustrated that her music's owned by an alleged racist. Picking the record label's side in the masters discussion is weirdo behavior, and idk how much of that is genuine, or bitter projection because of Charli's boyfriend being tight with Matty.

And then in the same breath, it talks about her returning to her shitty label... because of her masters. Which she immediately gets defensive over, because she knows it's hypocritical and that it's also pathetic to see her make that choice after years of dissing that label.

    :eyes:

  3. I haven't been paying attention to this era.. has she been delivering a 2010-13 Tumblr throwback to justify the True Romance aesthetics, or is she doing same-old 'I'm a bad girl' 2-minute hyperpop songs with new packaging? :crossed:

  4. it's giving when people raised concerns that the Cry Baby era spent a little too much time sexualizing its preschool-aged characters and being inappropriate with its subject matter (which is even more true after K-12 and songs like "Wheels on the Bus"), and Melanie's response was a salty post like "you just don't GET it"

    "art with substance"

    > nearly plot-less K-12 film
    > NFTs of "edgy" versions of old toys
    > stolen artwork merch
    > awful green-screened "M&G" photos
    > tacky half-baked songs like Moon Cycle coming out while decent songs like Needle & Thread fall to the wayside

I honestly think if she had released "Is It Over Now?" in 2014 the 1D fans would've ripped her to shreds. I don't know if everyone here remembers how downright brutal the Directioners were in that era. I wonder if that had a roll in it being vaulted.

Maybe, seeing as how Slut! is literally (in part) about Directioners bashing her :deadbanana: But she did say that she always wanted Is It Over Now? to be the closing track on 1989, describing it as a "tough choice" to scrap it

  7. to reiterate and better explain my thoughts with Sam Smith yesterday...

people should be entitled to their opinions! 99% of the "hate" Charli was on the verge of tears over was essentially "can we have a solo version too?" lmfao. It's not that serious. Anyone going "oh you guys should be embarrassed" reeks of hypocrisy and idol worship, cus I'm damn sure you've also wished for a solo version of a song or written publicly about an aspect of a song you didn't like. just because Charli's upset does not mean that negative takes are invalid, or that they warrant embarrassment. stop ass-kissing :toofunny:

take it up with miss charli!

if a better version didn't exist, we wouldn't have literally heard it in that dj set

I swear you guys are trying to pull some sort of elaborate gaslighting

the angels are so nasty and rude! they didn't even say thanks to the leaker gods for barbie gurl!

it's a concept demo without so much as a verse or even the post-chorus section, bffr

I fell down the Unsolved Hole again and God what a mess that was  did we ever get the Alexandra final version? Cuz I'm going full Mandela effect right now; every page hints that we only got a snippet of the final version, but I could 100% swear we had it in full.

the supposed final version was just the original version, promoted alongside the original OHDH. the version she released came later.

And her fans still wonder why she doesn’t release ARTPOP act II …girl is traumatised

tbf she's the one who kept talking about Act II; ARTPOP was clearly something she was passionate about, and she kept trying to make it work, to the point she was somewhat consistently referring to an Act II plan from 2012 to 2014 (albeit less optimistic about it coming out as the years progressed). She made the album to heal from trauma, and she commented "my soul" or something like that on a TikTok about it either this year or last year.

She even still cares about the deep cuts to some extent; her 2017 Coachella set had Venus and Sexxx Dreams + an intro with bits of Donatella and (for some reason) Partynauseous. She played Aura every date of the Enigma residency. She was jamming to MANiCURE at the Haus Labs launch party. That Vogue "Life in Looks" video was primarily ARTPOP-themed and there was a segment of her 2020 interview with Zane Lowe where they talk about ARTPOP and the implications of Chromatica being a spiritual successor to it. I don't think she hates it as much as people want her to :toofunny:

i‘ll try… so you might have heard of matty going on that podcast w/ adam friedland and they mocked asian people/were racist. rina is signed with dirty hit, 1975s label, when she played glastonbury she called him out for it publicly.. and charli remains good friends w/ matty sooo i‘d guess rina is pissed at charli for associating/being friends with matty???

don't forget that matty owns rina's masters; it goes farther than them sharing a label

no i agree that its good she's shedding light on this issue and hopefully it does change things for smaller artists. its like with her streaming boycott, it didn't matter how much money she made from streams but it did help smaller artists who were losing money when streaming took over. and i might be pessimistic but i feel like this time its actually leas likely for things to change for the better from this. i feel like labels are gonna make stricter contracta now that prevent rerecordings altogether and anyone who wants to get signed will have to deal with being screwed over. what taylor really needs to do is start her own label and sign new acts and give them contracta that actually benefit them.

imagine if musicians were able to unionize and Taylor was elected president of it ala Fran Drescher currently leading SAG-AFTRA :teehee: musicians definitely deserve more protections, especially since they have one of the most creative jobs in entertainment, yet they seem to be among the very most fucked-over when it comes to their craft

Why do you feel the need to mention Melanie on every thread here for no reason? mind you most of the people coming for Elita aren't even fans. Especially strange in this scenario considering they're friends IRL and Melanie's the one who got Elita into making music + acting again… but go off I guess!

Melanie was never involved with DDLG, Elita was. They became friends years after she stopped. Anyways, I couldn't care less about Elita's Tumblr past considering she was a barely legal mentally ill addict, desperate for money and catering to the same creepy men she was camming for.

There's nuisance to everything and she's clearly in a better place now. Reminds me of Nicole Dollanganger's whole situation… not into either of their music, but they're both pretty girls!

My post was just pointing out the hypocrisy. The people that started digging into Elita's past and making those posts were Melanie fans, which I thought was funny, considering the image Melanie had at that time + the fact she was wearing dresses from DDLG shops on tour. This has nothing to do with my opinions of Melanie, I just thought it was weird!

Side note, Melanie isn't responsible for Elita's career choices. Her boyfriend and bandmate Timothy is the one who got her into music. The band formed because Elita and Tim were trying to write a film treatment, it wasn't going anywhere, and that somehow led to them writing "I Hate Everyone But You" instead. Come on SUCKER vibes…. we won

SUCKER deserves better than to be linked to this half-assed effort, even in a passing LanaBoards post

Love Elita! how did she not have a thread yet

they're a great band, but a lot of people tend to overlook the band because Elita Harkov had Tumblr posts about DDLG during her cokewhore camgirl phase... even though the people in question stan Melanie Martinez and this piece of information was uncovered right in between the Cry Baby and K-12 eras
