  1. WARNING !! MINOR SPOILERS

So I just saw the movie, and I'm having some mixed feelings about it. :teehee: First of all, Margot Robbie did a fantastic job, she brought such emotional weight to the story and she served, every single second that she was on screen. All the actors did good. Shout out to Michael Cera! I found his Alan so endearing, he's one of the gorls and I can see this movie reviving interest in the character (in terms of toy demand). The writing in the movie was very self-aware, even breaking the fourth wall to address that we're watching a movie starring Margot Robbie, and it was camp. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it was a little cringe. All-in-all it was a fun movie, instant classic.

The soundtrack worked a lot better than expected. The context of the Lizzo track is so goofy, it's basically played-straight narration to Barbie's morning routine, with very literal lyrics saying exactly what's happening on-screen. I don't think they actually used Ava Max or Dominic Fike? If they did, it was either instrumental backing music or end credit stuff I missed. But they played a huge chunk of Speed Drive twice in a row and it served. The two "Best Weekend Ever Edition" bonus tracks have a larger presence in the film than a majority of the standard tracks. Barbie World is an end credits song, so you don't have to hear it for long if you don't want to.

As someone who cares too much about random lore, I hate hate HATE what they did with the subjects of Midge and the inception of Barbie. They reduced Midge to a running gag, calling her the bad pregnant doll that was discontinued for being *weird*, which is untrue and also minimizes her role in Barbie history. She only appears for brief intervals so they can make fun of her existence, and they completely ignore that Alan's the father & husband despite his prominence in the film. I also HATE how they put Ruth Handler on a pedestal, praising her as the inventor of the first ever fashion doll. This isn't true. Ruth saw children in Germany playing with a doll known as Bild Lilli, and she stole the design with no authorization or credit in regards to the original inventor. Ruth did not invent fashion dolls, she just brought them to the US, and the film does revisionist history to pretend that's not the case.

We don't know lmao, thats whats so insane about you idiots. Legal discovery in the Kesha case showed she signed that deal in 2005, almost half a decade before Luke even had Kemosabe set up at RCA. Aaron was signed to Rx and was working with Luke as early as 2013 and was bringing Kim (a friend) around. :diva:

Aaron has publicly suggested that he met Kim for the first time at a Halloween party in 2014 (same month Kesha filed her lawsuit), and that they made STFU (a song posted to Soundcloud in mid Dec 2014) in their second session together. He's also said that he was the one to introduce Kim and Dr. Luke, and he said a few years ago that she isn't being forced to work w/ him. Afaik, there isn't proof that Kim worked with Dr. Luke at any point before 2016, and the start of 2016 is when everyone from Taylor Swift to Lady Gaga was showing support for Kesha.

That Apple Music interview was...interesting. The two big revelations I saw were the substance abuse problems around winter 21/spring 22 and the fact that she knows someone close to her was ultimately the one who leaked the album (and that she knows who it is) as it was made in an airbnb in quarantine with a limited number of people. So that pretty much makes me assume that Aaron was ultimately the one who leaked Problematique, given that they seem to have little to no relationship anymore and the only places he's credited on the album are the old songs that were brought over.

As far as the scrapped pre or post the album leaking thing, I think that really sits in the murky water of the difference between a shelved and a scrapped album. Technically Problematique in the version that Aaron posted the tracklist was probably "scrapped" in the sense that Republic wanted her to record more songs (and probably planned to rename the album & its "concept" as it hadn't been announced) but also were fumbling the rollout of said new songs (Coconuts). Kim said that around the time of Slut Pop (this would have been the time she was making that) she was having substance abuse problems and treating people close to her badly, and then shortly after, we know her and Aaron had a falling out and unfollowed each other on IG around April 2022. Aaron probably saw the writing on the wall that Problematique would not be released in the manner he and Kim created (and I do think a lot of that project was also "his" vision as he was allegedly executive producing it & Kim Petras as a project something he said in an old PAPER interview), realized that Kim was now rewriting the album at Republic's request, doing it without him since they were on bad terms, leaked the album in Summer 2022, and tried to cover when it was apparent it was him.

    #IStandWithAaron

(this is satire; he's potentially more insane than Kim is and he's the one that set her up with Dr Puke in the first place :toofunny: but I don't feel bad for Kim about him leaking her rejected album that he cowrote the entirety of... I am incapable of feeling sympathetic about this)

  6. so is Titanic credited on Knockoff, or is she gonna continue leeching credit like she did on I Disagree More (and hypocritically accused Grimes of doing) :w8ing:

  7. Has her label/PR been advising her to act like a victim about Problematique? it was already not-happening when it leaked, and she publicly endorsed listening to the leaks :toofunny:

She's taking a page out of Charli's XCX World playbook, truly

  8. Next Level Charli was an achievement in pop music

the song she's lyrically/melodically interpolating is hands-down one of the most unbearable songs I've ever heard, and Charli managed to make it slap

UPDATE: another source has confirmed that baby was sent to lil nas x for him to record on....i am reasonably sure that baby feat. lil nas x exists somewhere and i need it NOW

how many scrapped CRASH collabs are there

I'm glad the world didn't allow that album to become Charli 2.0 / Pop 2 3.0 in terms of how the tracklist looks

Like is that what does it for them? Is that what gets them to a fat juicy load? Dropping a file and then cranking it going "ahahahaha they think it's great but it's still not the o-o-OGGGGGG" [insert ahegao face]

as a former part of that community, that is a 100% accurate depiction and it's tragic :toofunny:

  11. it's so insane to see a fanbase that heavily praises Marina's earlier music (much of which being, in one way or another, about depression & over-exertion & stress) then go on to be dismissive when she's diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome :deadbanana:

  13. I'm tired of the arguments about how an I'm a Slave 4 U-esque sweaty sexual music video with athletic men needs to include overweight people

    it doesn't :ohno:

Hi gays, i need to know, What's everyone's favorite leak from each era? like Pre True Romance, True Romance, The Punk Album stuff, Sucker, XCX World, XCX World/Number 1 Angel, Pop 2, Self Titled, How I'm Feeling Now & Crash. like gimmie lists of your favorites!

I cannot break it down on an era-by-era basis, but her top 10 best unreleased songs (in alphabetical order) are

    • Angry All the Time — would've smashed at the time
    • Bel Air — definitely cried to this in recent years
    • Come to My Party — she should be arrested for not making this a droplet
    • Interior — banger, glad she didn't hyperpopize it for HIFN though
    • Jungle — should've been on True Romance
    • Not In Love — should've been on a soundtrack or something
    • Real Friends — Click was released and this wasn't???
    • Save You — lovely; same as Bel Air
    • Taxi — [gay slur]s were never the same after this
    • The One I Die 4 — Atlantic is going to hell

Anyone else remember "Banana Well" thing, or "Bluffington"? Feels so long ago now but I still remember how fast that shit spread around, lol.

Bluffington made sense cuz it was referring to a school in a 90s cartoon & she was obsessed with 90s cartoons and very obviously making a school-themed album

    Medieval Dynasty was just...???

  17. 3 minutes ago, ButterflyBones said:

If you were joking, ignore this because I'm a dumbass who can't read sarcasm through a screen. But Medieval Dynasty wasn't actually a thing FWIW. Just a fan-made name. Pretty sure she's has the PORTALS title planned for a while considering the use of portals in K-12.

I didn't say she was actually doing it, I'm asking why the Little Bows online were so sure she was doing a medieval concept

Saw this on YouTube and thought I'd share the link.

I still don't get why Medieval Dynasty was a thing

I know Melodyne flip-flops with her historical imagery, but why would Ms. Sobinfant die in midcentury environs and begin her next life in a completely different, past-tense era?

Is this true? Ashley is a famous Britney impersonator. I don't have threads so I can't verify if that's her official Threads account:

I saw a TikTok earlier showing video of Myah Marie talking YEARS ago about a Britney Jean reject w/ will.i.am that had "business" in the title, which was already worrying, and this certainly doesn't help things :toofunny:
