I don't think Lana has ever been a very glamorous person (remember Chuck's comments on her style and her cute&tacky Lizzy days?). I think in her songs she sometimes likes having this glamour persona with big hair and red dresses - and after releasing Born To Die she tried to impersonate it for awhile, but even then she always had her 'street style' when not at events and stuff. Maybe by now she's more confident with her own style, or combining the two together. I don't know, I change my ideas of what would look pretty on me yearly or more often, I'm sure she does too.

I really think she just started styling herself recently, instead of relying on makeup+ Johnny Blue eyes.. plus it's possible she didn't want the whole retro thing to become her shtick. It's impossible for her to look ugly so idk who cares lol

I feel so sad that the BTD era is ending. I feel like with Lana's changing look and sound, she's lost something epic that she had in BTD. It's hard to pinpoint when this happened. I know I'm not expressing myself too well because I don't even think that I can word what I'm trying to say. I'm not saying she should never change, but she's lost something intangible. I can't describe what it is. I don't find myself too crazy about her recently. She possessed a quality that made me want to see every picture of her, and made me think even the not-so-great looks were amazing. I wanted to hear every song and see every live performance, and even when her voice was shaky, I loved it all the same. She lost whatever "that" quality is. 

Maybe she was just hiding out from the Grammys.  Who could blame her?  After writing well over 200 songs, a Grammy for "Summertime Sadness" is awarded to someone she has never even talked with or met.
