I've seen Charli tan. I'm sure she's capable of tanning pretty dark. She just seems to avoid the sun. Her mother is not native Ugandan as in being sub-Saharan African. Her mother is a descendant of Indians/Pakistanis who immigrated to Uganda about 100 years ago. She may or may not have a little African blood, but yeah, her mother is still pretty dark.

I just watched to video. Good: Charli needs a tan, but she looked hot. She definitely looked hotter than she did on Boom Clap with the puffy eyes and bloated face. The video doesn't look too cheap like almost all of her other videos. Bad: I didn't like the video's concept. It got kind of stupid at the end. Charli has her mouth open 75% of the time just like in her Instagram photos. I'm sure she's caught many flies. I still don't like the song. If I watch the video again, it'll be on mute.

I still don't see the resemblance. I was rooting for Charli, but Sam Smith is damn good.

He was nominated, and the award is based on people's votes. I guess a lot of tween girls voted. Sam Smith was by far the best nominee, but anyone would have been better than them.

It looks like Charli finally got a video budget. MTV Awards

You're wrong. Xanax is a prescription drug many people choose to abuse and illegally obtain. As far as music, yes Charli's new music sucks. I liked Heartbreaks and Earthquakes, Super Ultra, and True Romance. That is probably where it's going to end.

It is a poison in liquid form and a drug.

I'm agnostic and have a bottle of whisky in my house, but it's probably going to sit there for years. I'm just a person who has seen too many people ruin their lives over something as unnecessary as drugs. It's a scientific fact that alcohol is a poison; it has nothing to do with religion. If people knew anything about how alcohol acts in the body, they would know it's a poison; but, they don't.

As far as Charli trying to be "cool" or "punk," I am talking more than just about drug references. The whole drinking and getting high thing with Tinashe was just an example of another artist trying too hard to be "hard" or "edgy" kind of like Drake being a studio gangster rapper. I already knew that Charli liked to fry her brain and it seems to be affecting her song writing. Like I said, I like True Romance, so my opinion of her music has little to do with drug references. I mostly listen to hip hop. If I avoided songs with references to drugs and liquid poison (alcohol), I wouldn't have anything to listen to.

True, but the punk attitude seems forced. Honestly, Charli always came off as a dork trying to act cool, but it was more tolerable in True Romance. She even said she was too focused on trying to be cool on that album, but I think it's even worse now. I like "Take My Hand" even though I don't engage in self-poisoning. I also regularly bump "2 on." "Break the Rules" just sucks, and the lyric about school is just stupid.

I think there is a difference between attracting young fans unintentionally while being a bad role model and intentionally attracting young fans while being a bad role model. Charli's target audience is teenage girls. The "getting high, getting wrecked" line is just more of Charli trying too hard to be a badass. I'm not convinced. I feel the same about Tinashe and "2 On" after seeing her old videos being a good girl and talking about how she dislikes alcohol. Now all of a sudden, she likes to get drunk and high at the same time.
-
"Break the Rules" blows. I can't even imagine it being a radio hit, but mainstream music isn't at its best right now, so who knows. If she's going to be morally bankrupt promoting substance abuse over education to 14 year old girls, she could at least make the music sound good. I don't think I'll be buying this album. I'd rather listen to Avril Lavigne.

If her panic attacks are being caused by a natural chemical imbalance, taking ecstasy would only exacerbate the problem. Ecstasy depletes the brain of norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. It would be like someone with Type 1 diabetes drinking sugary sodas.

People ask stupid questions like, "How do you always look so flawless in your pictures?" Or, "Do you believe in aliens?" She chooses to answer them. I bet she received better questions than that. She didn't answer any of mine. Kids, this is why you don't do drugs. http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/jul/24/charli-xcx-interview-boom-clap-panic-attacks

Okay, but she's also been having panic attacks and is sad a lot. These are side effects of heavy MDMA (ecstasy) use. She's free to do what she wants to do, obviously, but I still don't get it. I don't get drug use at all.

If she's tired of using "loads of drugs," then why don't she just stop or seek help? I don't get it.

That's annoying. They sound nothing alike. They have completely different voices, and their musical styles are different. They also don't look alike.

I'd rather have an album full of DJ Mustard ripoff beats than an album full of half-assed punk or Boom Claps, but I don't think that's direction Charli is going. It would be cool though. I like the juxtaposition of pop vocals over hard hitting hip hop or r&b beats, but even more people would accuse her of being a Gwen Stefani clone. I'll be honest and say that my favorite Charli tracks are the ones that are hip hop and r&b influenced. Oh, and she needs to make up her damn mind. Is the album she's releasing the pop one or the punk one? Saying that the punk album lives doesn't tell us if it's the next album that's going to be released. She's playing with my emotions.

Pop with live instruments and a punk edge is a better description than colors. I don't even know what purple and red are supposed to sound like. It's different for everyone. In one interview, she said that True Romance was gold and something else, so she can't even decide.

Her hook and bridge in Fancy are dope. I never bought I Love It, but I thought it was interesting when it came out. I could deal with shouty, but I'd prefer it to be over rhythmic music. Superlove and Boom Clap are a little too bubblegum for my taste.

Flashing panties and wearing no bra. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WKhJowxeMw

I kind of feel the same way. I was hoping that she would incorporate some Indian/Gujarati sounds like she said she might. I like world music and urban/pop music that incorporates Indian, Arabic, East Asian, and Caribbean music.

You're entitled to disagree with me, even though you could have done it with more tact, but a lot of people had to be thinking the same thing as I was.

My dreams have come true. I'm glad the faux punk album was scrapped. That shit was terrible. It's not that I can't get into punk music; she's just not a punk artist. I hope all of those songs get lost in a digital black hole.

I read the rules. I don't see anything about posting fan videos, so I hope this is okay. I noticed that Charli doesn't have any slideshow, tribute videos on YouTube. I'm not the best at these things, but I made one because I think every hot celebrity should have one.
