As an example, this instrumental (produced by Jack Antonoff) sounds unmistakably like a Lana instrumental, it’s crafted around the lyrics:

Whereas this just sounds like a random melody, there’s no Lana atmosphere to it:

BUT, I’m hopeful to see what Drew brings to Tunnel. I hope he proves me wrong but I’m just not sold on him yet.

Choosing jacks best instrumental is dirty , I mean beautiful has nice melody and doesn’t lack much if you compare it to let’s say , love song .

rick gave lana her “signature/classic lana” sound, maybe she wanted a change from that? in any case i hope they work together again at some point because they’re really a match made in heaven. i feel like he makes her lyrics more concise and solid, plus he gave us her magnum opus honeymoon. i really miss his touches in lana’s music:crai:

Lana and Rick =match made in heaven .  Let’s see if ocean blvd reaches honeymoon 🔥

this is also her first album without production/lyrics by rick nowels so it really is a fresh slate, seems like she’s breaking away from typical archetypes in her lyrics and experimenting with her sound more.

I think the last time she properly worked with Rick was L4L.

And in my opinion she need to work with Rick Again.

Evanescence did that for their album back in 2020 and it ruined the experience of listening to the album on release. Like what's the point of an album if you only have like 3-4 new songs left.

Hearing the whole album without knowing what to expect is unmatched I guess. I guess I just can't wait.

As some other people have said , another single would be ok.

And about The Bitter Truth , what ruined it was the mixing and not following this vibe

100%. The demos are alot more raw & have clearer vocals/more life in them, Almost Good, Mushroom Punch, Sunday in Heaven, Am I Still Your Baby, & Last Time are especially better & clear. It’s probably a stylistic choice, (it works well for effect on Girls in particular) but I definitely get what you’re saying. I’m excited to hear how the vinyl sounds, maybe it’ll sound better! You can tell in the album versions she’s going for a more “mature” sound, but I love when she lets her upper register shine. It would be cool if she worked with Dan Auerbach again for the next project, he did amazing on the EP. The guy who did Man on the Moon is great too, I think he did some of the demos for a few tracks that didn’t make the album. Hopefully we get a deluxe or another EP within the year. April would be perfect time for an EP she could release on vinyl via Record Store Day again.

Where can I find the demo versions ? Especially golden ?

This is the "Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd?" album pre-release thread. Want to pick fights about Ultraviolence and how I "dared" to touch it? Here you go, but I won't be joining.

I do not wish to fight . I just wanted you to help me see how the lyrics have gotten better according your opinion . Anyway this whole thing was a  fuss about nothing . Didn’t want to startle you .

I don't have to enlighten you about anything with the way you're talking!

You stated that Lana , according to your opinion writes  better lyrics now . You even dared to touch UV ( which is my absolute favourite album ) and that intrigued me to my core . So I ask you again , kindly and in good spirit , how do you perceive better writing . ?

Clearly he wasn't here yesterday or he would know not to fuck with me unless he wishes that he was never born. :eartha:

    Mental … at least .

Lana writes better lyrics now overall (back half of UV and most of Lust for Life, hello?!), but her style has changed so much that it's useless to compare.

Define what you mean by better lyrics . Please enlighten me how songs like arcadia , love song and HIAB are better than pawn shop blues , blackest day  and get free .

Is that guy seriously trying to credit JACK for Lana's evolution  in music? I am about to lose my temper. I wish suffering to that man and his sweet Margaret.

I just can’t 😂 . How is it possible for someone to believe that right now , Lana writes better lyrics thanks to Jack ! ? I’m sorry people but you have to go and study all the unreleased and released songs Lana has wrote , up until NFR . Her storytelling has diminished significantly just like the orchestration of the  productions. Do not ignore the elephant in the room. Like it or not just don’t ignore it .

I said legitimized. I’m not implying he made Lana or anything.

but he did help her remove the gimmics (heavy reverb, lyrical tropes, overly cinematic production) to reveal her true genius as a songwriter. And for that I appreciate him.

You mean Lana actually writes better lyrics now ?
