Is anyone here familiar with Shirley Jackson or her literary works? She is my favourite author and has reminded me of Lana a lot. Her life is somewhat similar to Sylvia Plath and we know Lana is a big fan of hers. I could definitely see Lana gaining inspiration from Shirley and was just wondering if anyone else thinks this.

I think it’s entirely possible that Candace is someone Lana met at AA, maybe even her sponsor. She seems to have come into Lana’s life around the same time her current group of friends did. I believe I remember reading something someone posted here about members of this current friend group also being in AA. If Patty is truly toxic, I have no doubt in my mind that this contributed to Lana’s alcoholism/possible drug use. She’s been more vocal of her hatred for Patty lately so I’m speculating maybe she has finally accepted that she is toxic and this is why she doesn’t even acknowledge her anymore and cut her out of her life. Maybe she sees Candace as her mother now bc she helped her get sober if she had relapsed within the last few years. Having a toxic mother is one of the most detrimental aspects of adult life and I don’t think society paints an accurate picture of how horrible and scary it can be. In my opinion, it should be considered a trauma and has the same sort of effects. Anyways all this makes sense to me but I’m just speculating.

Patty is definitely not dead. When I was looking for info about Joanna I found all kinds of obituaries. Patty was not one of them. Like others, I think Joanna is probably a close cousin. Possibly on her moms side bc if she truly has cut the mom off, then it makes sense to me that she would still want to explore and be okay with the other family members on the mom’s side. To me, Lana seems to be really in touch with who she is and where she comes from and her roots- that sort of thing.

Her dad liked everything she posted on Instagram yesterday except the post about Candace.

Also I feel super creepy for finding all of that, I was literally just looking up her dad and mom and even Candace and Joanna and somehow found her dad’s entire family history.

Super old. Cynthia Grant. Her husband died in 2014 at the age of 89. I found his public obituary.

The M tattoo is after her grandmother on her mom’s side so it’s definitely not a hatred for all of Patty’s side of the family, just Patty.

Is Charlie and chuck’s official middle name hill? That’s patty’s surname. If so, I wonder why Lana wasn’t born Elizabeth Hill Grant like the others.

He wished her a happy birthday on December 23rd and he was wearing a wedding band in October so if they are divorced it has to be super recent.

Whatever happened between Lana and her mom seems like it’s between patty and Lana/chuck/Charlie. They never mention her or talk about her. They all act like she doesn’t exist, not just Lana. She’s just the most vocal about it lately.
