I was literally just editing my post to include Raise Me Up . Yes, Velvet Crowbar would eat as well.
-
Lasso sounds very western (cowboys) not at all sad. Manifesting You know I just realized. I’m sitting here thinking because of the name of the album. Maybe my hope of her doing western soundtrack music is becoming real. If she goes for this sound (Raise Me Up in particular), it’ll be HUGE mefears.
-
People saying she’s always been country. Y’all need to clean your ears. Sirens is not even country. It only sounds the way it sounds because the budget is 2 dollars. It’s not a fully produced record. Guitar =/= country. And AKA is not “country”. Stop trying to make it country. She sang with a twang (that’s about it) but the music is very much alternative with a rocky edge even. It has many sounds. Bollywood, western, etc.
-
Ma’am, what you talking about? TikTok “streams” do not count towards any charts aside from the TikTok charts lol. No official chart in any country is counting TikTok streams. They count Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, etc. And I don’t want to defend TikTok, but you can’t play full songs on there like Spotify. It’s not a music streaming platform. I don’t know why UMG is asking them to pay like their Spotify or Apple Music when only 15 to 60 seconds of audio is playable . It’s unfortunate that this is happening right after she signed with UMG. The country album too lol. Back to being a flop she goes.

Just like how she added a ton with Chemtrails. And her cover of Take Me Home, Country Roads is currently sitting pretty at #1 on US Spotify. Oh wait.
-
Is anyone else a little disappointed by her statement? What? Like she’s always been a trailblazer/ trendsetter. She’s always doing something different and unique than what everyone else is doing. She’s not a “follower”. Why are you chasing trends now ? You’re not a trend chaser.

.

Chemtrails wasn’t enough ? Don’t care for country (I don’t listen to this genre AT ALL ). But “Lasso” EATS as a title . I am curious how this will do. It’s either going to flop horribly again Chemtrails style or be huge. There’s no inbetween mefears.

Blind ballot from Golderby: https://www.goldderby.com/forum/music/blind-ballot-2-grammys-2024/ Interesting . -
It’s cute, but it’s giving Arcadia/Blue Tankisters with the vocal mix. Just overly LOUD (and sharp, almost too clear) in spots for no reason. The original is more pleasant to listen to. I know it’s probably Florence’s vocal delivery as well, but it’s the producers/mixers job to be able to tune it for a pleasant listening experience or for the artistic vision. I only say “artistic vision” because some songs aren’t aiming for pleasant, but I don’t think this song is aiming for anything experimental. It’s aiming for pleasant. The production is great tho. That I agree.

Everyday, I’m happy that “Grandfather please” is a flop song. It’s good for humanity. The white woman line smh. You can not deprecate the white race like that. She’s offending most of her fanbase. Also, she should not be romanticizing deep sea fishing. Deep Sea Fishing is bad. It’s dangerous. It’s bad for the environment. It harms the animal. Her father should not be fishing for sharks as a “sport”. She should NOT be promoting that on her albums. The song flopping is vendication mefears. People agree with me.

So… I was initially very happy that she’s working with Lvke La!rd, but then I saw this: https://www.instagram.com/p/CzsSMjzOqFH/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CkyGY3Lue1W/ Naur, she needs to stay AWAY from that mvrderer. I’m sorry but no.

Lana Del Rey for the SKIMS Valentine’s Day Collection (Nadia Lee Cohen)
Delete NOW replied to Elle's topic in Latest News
Y’all love making fan fics. Where’s the Olivia, Billie, Madison collab if Lana loves them so much? The answer is none. She did a song with Taylor (technically two) and multiple with The Weeknd and Jack (Bleachers). They are her close “celeb” friends. I don’t see Lana praising Jack either. Does she not like Jack despite working with him for every album? The friendship here is probably way more genuine than the PR praises she gave to those other people (and vice versa with the response those people gave back to her. It’s mostly PR). Billie, for example, completely ignored Lana for her Grammys speech. Acknowledging Ariana instead. A mess. Despite saying how much she “loves” Lana beforehand. When the time comes, they switch. You don’t need to praise your friend everytime. They know already. Also, Lana wouldn’t feel the need to praise mega producer Grammy award winning Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift, and The Weenknd (all of them are established acts). She praised Billie, Olivia, etc because they are all upcoming artists. Taylor probably felt the same way about Lana. She obviously think that Lana deserves way more recognition. She’s trying to lift her up. And Lana is lifting Billie, Olivia up because they’re new artists. -

Most likely because of the Lolita connection, even though her style was old Hollywood glamour esp during Born To Die. Also, Lana’s music has a lot classical composition (baroque). She sings with a lot of poise which is from an older time. As much as some fans like to think Lana is a rock star. She has only 1 album with a rock sound . The most prominent genre Lana makes is baroque. And the coquette aesthetic actually borrows a lot from Lolita and the baroque/victorian period, which both things Lana has done/was inspired by . Those people (TikTok) basically assigned that aesthetic to her, even though Lana’s actual style is/was old Hollywood and bike rocker chick (UV). With OB, she styled herself with bows and that kinda sealed the deal.
-
Bfr. Fall 2023 (which was just a couple months ago) Not to mention the OB shoot has so many bows . The freaking cover she’s wearing bows. It’s just in black and white.

So many songs from many artists are about love/sex/relationships. Ocean Blvd covers such a wide variety of topics and thematic elements that isn’t just love. I hope that trend continues and stay consistent regardless of how the next album will sound. I hope she continues to write songs about different topics. I’m just realizing looking back her discography that most of the songs on her albums are about relationships and love songs . With maybe one or two songs per album that aren’t about love. To be fair, most artists are like that as well. Taylor is also all love songs . A lot artists and rappers sing about sex and love/relationships and that’s it. Ocean Blvd buck this trend actually with a majority of the album containing other topics and the love songs being the smaller part of the album. Interesting.
-
Twitter rumors . But then Lana started talking about moons on Instagram and put Abel’s song on her insta story. And The Weeknd randomly changed his profile pic to a moon.

I don’t want to be writing an essay. I’m going to type words and you piece it yourself. Lana has said some these words herself about the album and her intention: - Automatic singing - Kintsugi (a metaphor for embracing your flaws and imperfections) - Imperfections - Should we structured this? - Candy Necklace video with random cuts of BTS - Multiple long songs (that is so far from the norm esp in the ringtone TikTok era) The album itself also has random background noises and blips and blops that weren’t cut out (vape sounds, Lana discussing with Jack, Peppers). Jack said so himself. They wanted to keep the atmosphere of the recording sessions in. This is a personal rough around the edges album. The album has imperfections on purpose. It is intentionally artistically done. There’s a metaphor somewhere of how the album sound and Lana as an artist. Her journey and her evolution. She also clearly wanted to do something different and something not the norm and more challenging sonically. By challenging, she’s challenging herself and challenging the listener. She wanted to buck the trend and put her whole foot down. This is an album of bravery. No one is putting out multiple 6 minutes songs in an album with massively long interludes like that. The long songs here also feed into the whole streams of consciousness, automatic writing, structuredless, unedited, unpolished, rawness of it all which is part of the imperfections. There’s a line somewhere in here that you can grasp at. BTW, the “rough” sound here is still more listenable than the ear piercing Blue Tankisters. Blue Tankisters sound isn’t even rough. It’s actually very polished but mistakes were made. Her vocals are so clear and loud to the point of making it unlistenable. And the piano hits your ear drums in a way that is just painful to listen to. I don’t know the technical terms, but there’s gotta be some wave length of sound that is unchecked or something. Ocean Blvd is rough in away that is still pleasant. Like eating Spicy foods. The levels are correct. It’s abravesive at points but not unpleasantly so. The mixing is wonderful. There’s a fuzzy coziness to the album. Very wintery. There’s just a texture to this album interestingly similarly to Neil’s photography. The texture here is also very similar to Ultraviolence. I’m talking about the sound texture. The album itself is very different, of course.
-
It’s really not the mixing when the song is intentionally done so that way. Just like the industrial sound (vocal chop “MIIIIINNNNE”) at the back end of A&W. It’s rough like that because Lana clearly wanted to sound that way. They could have gone for a muted limp trap song like Tulsa but instead they cranked it up. They made the right choice. There’s so much more texture and life.
-
How do you listen to UV if you think that’s muffled? And what do you think of Honeymoon or LFL? Ocean Blvd is mastered to perfection. We should be thanking and kissing her feet. Every single “muffled sound” or “rough sound” is intentional and artistically done. Unlike Blue Tankisters which sounds like technical errors. That was just really unprofessional and amateurly done. For me, I can listen to any song on Ocean Blvd. I can’t finish a song on Blue Tankisters. It physically hurts my ears. Arcadia esp is an assault with the title track following right behind it.

My dream is for Lana to make a heist western album (Off To The Races, Kinda Outta Luck, You Can Be The Boss, Queen Of The Gas Station, Raise Me Up, Driving In Cars With Boys, The Trio interlude). Or a space themed album. Aesthetically and sonically. Not unlistenable dance garbage like ChromatiTANK. But beautiful orchestrated songs, ambient electronica, and glitchy sounds (Parts of Tropico, Parts of NFR video, Venice Bitch bridge, West Coast ending, Parts of Fuck It I Love You). She already dabbled in that. A whole album with space sound would be so good. Also, heavy reverbed vocals would work very well with a space album. Would love a return of that as well.
